1 month results

To be completely honest. Apart from the swelling that fluctuates up and down. I couldn’t be happier with the results so far.
My scar management has been:
Bio Oil - massaged 2 times a day for 3 mins
Silicone Gel applied night and morning to help keep the moisture in the scar.
I still have a ways to go. I tried to got for a 5 k walk. I did it and it didn’t hurt. But the swelling made me look pregnant. Lol.
Here are some photos of the results.

8 Days Post Op - 10 May

Well, I've had all 4 drains out one week post op. I saw the doctor again, and he was happy, he said that normally, he likes to keep the drains in for the first 2 weeks.
This time last week, I was just resting in the hospital on pain medication, this week, I feel like I've cheated somehow or I've been cheated. I read everyone's experiences of pain, and struggling to do anything,
I've been lucky that since being home, I've stopped taking all pain medications, and only on anti inflammories, and apart from the boredom of not doing anything, the sore lower back from being hunched over all the time and the tighness of my LBL, I am really not having any issues.

I asked the nurse, and she seems to think that due to my fitness and healthy lifestyle, I've come out good, but thinks that when I start to go back to working out, is when I will struggle. All that stretching and tensions on muscles I guess. Something for me to look into.

I'll post some progress photos next week.

Post Op Day 5 to 6 7 & 8 May ’19 (photo update)

Ok, reentry day was hard, not in terms of pain wise, but just simple things like walk to and from the toilet, you are hunched over carrying all your drain bags with you. Like one of those little old ladies on her way to buy milk for the week at the corner store. Your lower back hurts, and you have to get used to it,

Everything was tight. Every little turn (while not hurting) made me feel like I was going to bust a stitch or undo the amazing work of the surgeon.

Going to the bathroom is now a two-person job, showering is a two person job, I can’t cook, clean, dress myself, I’ve been completely reliant on my boyfriend Micheal.

Can I just take a moment to say, how amazing it has been to have my boyfriend go through this with me, he has been super supportive, and has gone above and beyond in caring for me, and ensuring that I had everything I needed to recover. He took a week of work, and has cooked, cleaned, helped me at the bathroom, helped to shower me, Put my shoes on… just everything. I think I found another side to Michael, I’ve not seen this super attentive side of him before, and it just makes me love him more then I could possibly have before. I now know what my 80s are going to look like.

Pain is non-existent now, unless I do something stupid, like laugh like a hyena at a joke the Michael has made…. DON’T LAUGH. I’ve taken my self off of all pain meds except for Panadol Osteo and anti-inflammatories.

Day 8,

I saw Dr Goh for a check up, and he was pleased to see how far I had come. I was able to get out 3 of the 4 drains.

Drain removal…. Not as bad as I had thought. It felt like something that sliding under my skin. I think that the fact I was very numb in those areas helped. I am hoping to get my other drain out on Friday.

Enjoy the photo updates.

I am glad that I took the time to look for the right Surgeon for me. Dr Goh has been nothing short of amazing. He has been honest and upfront about what he could do, and the results that I would get, and I've not being disappointed so far. His team at Valley Plastic Surgery (Brisbane, Aus) are not just professional, but supportive. His Nurses also answered all my silly questions and fears, and are just nice people. The follow up care that I have received since my surgery and being discharged from hospital have far exceeded my expectations. When I thought there was an issue, they jumped on it right away (they never made me feel like it was a silly concern) and they partnered with my to address my sermoa (which in the end was a non event). One month post surgery, I'm already planning the 2nd stage of my surgery, and will be going back to Dr Goh, there wasn't any doubt.
