Welcome! Tips for preop - a recliner for sleeping helped me, as well as cooking and freezing meals ahead of time. Taking help and being patient as you can - this surgery takes quite some recovery time. gas x pills for the first week really helped me, as I was so bloated when I ate. Not sure when you can go in a hot tub - I am sure your PS can give you the ok for that. Good luck and keep us posted!

You're welcome! I used Mederma & Palmers Vitamin E oil. Also massaging the scar is very important in the first few months - I truly believe that helps - I wish I did it more. Just rub the scar for a few minutes at bedtime or whenever you can. I am at 11 & 1/2 months post op & my scar did not heal well (due to tension - I accidently straightened the 2nd day after my surgery), so I am actually having my scar revision surgery tomorrow! Definately be careful not to try to straighten too soon or put tension on your scar. Most people heal very well & do not need scar revision.

Ok Ladies, I have a question, Does anyone know what is done if I have My period on the day of my procedure? The reason I ask is because I have been Charting my temperature for over a Year, and according to my records I am scheduled to have my Cycle The same day as my Surgery. Will My procedure need to be rescheduled or will they allow me to use a pad during surgery? I know this may be TMI, but I would like to know if any of u had this to happen before. I was also wondering How Long will it take for me to start walking upright instead of hunched over after surgery>

They will still perform surgery if you have your period. I think they will catheterize you during surgery, so I am not sure how that will affect it. I am sure they will give you a pad during and after surgery. Usually the average time it takes to walk upright is within one month. Please do not try to straighten up too soon - that may have contributed to my scar stretching out - I was so anxious to stand straighter, I may have pushed myself too soon! I just had scar revision surgery yesterday - it was so stretched out and thick! The main reason being I had major tension on the scar the 2nd day post op when the nurse moved me too soon and I flew straight back onto the bed in pain! Anyway, each day you will notice that you are standing a little straighter, until one day you look at yourself and realize you are straight! Good luck!!
