Ever since I was a kid, I have always had a high...

Ever since I was a kid, I have always had a high forehead. It’s always bothered me and people often mentioned it. Like many other people, I had no idea there was a procedure available to lower your forehead. As well as my high forehead, my eyes have always looked heavy and tired. After a bit of research, I found out that a brow lift can be achieved with the same procedure, PERFECT!
Last year, I had a hair transplant to fill in the bits that had receded about 10 years ago. I am not going bald, and there's nobody in my family who are going bald. My hairline has been the same for years.
When i had my hair transplant, i was told i have very stretchy skin (i have always known this, it becomes the talking point when my sister shows people lol)
I wanted to get a forehead reduction ASAP, so I went to my doctors for advice in looking for a surgeon, she recommended a private hospital who have many hospitals around the UK. I searched on their website, and only found 3 people who performed the hairline reduction. I went for a consultation with one surgeon, who basically said that the hair transplant has worked really well for me, so have more of that done again. The only thing is, the surgeon who performed the transplant, said that it’s only recommended for filling in the areas which have lost hair, and not for creating new hairlines. So that was that.
I found another surgeon, and quickly booked in for a consultation. Lovely man and explained what he would do, and that he can indeed perform a brow lift with the same procedure. He also recommended having my brow bone shaved down, as it protruded slightly, and would help my eyes looking less heavy. GREAT I said. I was so happy, and left my consultation with a massive smile on my face.
I booked in for surgery for 3 weeks’ time, and I was so excited. I had 1 concern though, at the consultation, he said he will lower my hairline by 1.5cm, at the time, I didn't say anything as I wasn't too sure how much that was, but when I started looking at everyone's reviews on Realself, most people achieved 2.5 to 3cm. I emailed my surgeons PA with my concern: I said that I was hoping for at least a 3cm reduction. If people with normal skin can achieve 3cm, surely me, with stretchy skin, can easily achieve that.
She forwarded my concern on to the surgeon. I had a response the next day.
I was told that if I wanted that much of a reduction, then I would need to pay extra for something called Endotine implants. These are small implants which get fixed to the skull, and anchor the skin in place until the skin attaches itself to the skull, and they eventually dissolve after around 2-3 months. These would cost an additional £600 (about $1000). I said yes of course, as it’s a small price to pay for something that's going to give me the lifelong results I want.
On to surgery day, I went in at 1pm, had my bloods taken and everything, and met with the surgeon again. I asked if he would be drawing where he hopes to reduce my hairline to, and he said no. I didn’t say much but it left me a little concerned, as I have seen many people on here, have photos of the new hairline the surgeon will create. I didn’t question him, and at 3:30, I went down to theatre.
I woke up in my hospital room, and felt really drowsy, I looked at the time and it was 7:30pm, I went to sleep and woke up the next day. My head was really swollen and my right eye was really blood shot (completely red). I had my dressing on, so couldn’t see the results. I was told to remove my dressing the following day and wash my hair with baby shampoo.
I stayed at my sister’s house as she only lives about 1.5 hours away. There was little pain at all, and I slept upright that night to try and reduce the swelling. I didn’t get much sleep and I was really nervous and wanted to see the results. When I finally woke up in the morning, my sister helped me take on my dressing and I looked in the mirror. I couldn’t believe the results and I cried. I haven’t cried for years, but when I saw the results, my forehead looked no different. My eyebrows looked slightly elevated, but that was mainly because of swelling. I checked to see how many CM he had done, and its no different, it looks as though all he's done is reduced it at the sides by no more that 1cm. I couldn't believe it. Something I have been dreaming of having for years, and these were the results, I was so upset.
I sent photos to my partner and my mum and they couldn’t see any difference either. My partner phoned me and could hear how upset I was, so she phoned my surgeons PA, who then phoned me to reassure me that everything will be ok. I was told that because I have had a brow lift as well, the swelling from my eyes is pushing my forehead upwards, and I won’t be able to see the results until the swelling goes. She said to stop getting the ruler out and measuring it, as it will all be fine. She reassured me a little, but deep down I wasn’t so convinced.
It has been 8 days now since my surgery, and although still a bit swollen, nothing really looks any different. I certainly can’t see the swelling going down and reducing my forehead a further 2cm.
It’s just a waiting game now, all I can do is wait and hope that she is right. I will wait for my swelling to go, and just hope that what she has said is true.
At the consultation, I got told 1.5 CM, which is why I paid an extra $1000 for the endotine implants so that he could reduce my hairline my about 3cm. but it seems he has done even less than the 1.5 he initially said.
I get married in 7 months, and I really wanted the results I hoped for.

2 week update

I'm leaving in half hour to go get my stitches and staples removed. It's a 2 hour journey each way which is a bit of a pain, but oh well.

Forehead still the same size as it was before the surgery, but I've been assured it will get lower when the swelling has reduced (even though the swelling has gone now).

I do however, have a strange swelling to the top of my head. It's completely numb still, but feels really hard. When I run my finger over my head, there's a certain part where it dips in, a bit like a crater (if that makes sense).

I'll ask about it when I see the nurse today, but feels very odd. I hope this is just swelling and that it will go down. If it does go down, I HOPE this is what they mean about my forehead being lower when the swelling goes, although a can't see this reducing my forehead by 2+cm.

I'll keep you all updated :)

3 week update

Face swelling has gone now, as have the black eyes.
Not too sure why i had to specifically go back to the hospital just to get my sutures removed when my GP could have done it. It was over 4 hours driving there and back.
I completely regret having my surgery. Such an unhappy experience and after speaking with someone else who contacted another surgeon for me, it seems my surgery has not been done properly. I have been told that the Endotine implants which he used on my (and charged me an additional £600 for), should not be used for forehead reduction. If my skin didnt have enough elasticity (which i know it has), then an expander should have been used, NOT the implants.
I have had no after care what so ever, despite contacting them the day after surgery to explain how upset i was with the results, nobody has called me to ask how i am, how the swelling is, or to reassure my concerns.
I want it done again, and have been told i would have to wait up to 6 months for the swelling to completely go, and even then, i would need scan of my head to see what he has done to me.
I know which surgeon i am using next, but i dont want to pay for it again, firstly because i cant afford it again, and secondly, i shouldn't have to. I will be attempting to get my money back for the surgery, as there are zero results.
I am still gutted, and more angry now too. I get married in August and I really wanted this surgery to help boost my confidence so that i can enjoy the day without having to worry about my hair moving out of place and constantly checking my fringe!
I will see what happens and update when i know anything else.
