I decided to go all in and pursue a goal of...

I decided to go all in and pursue a goal of "physical reclamation". I sought to take control and attempt to reverse the signs of aging, i.e. thinning hair, the advent of jowls, the existence of the dreaded "turkey neck", and the insufferable hooded eyelid and underlying fine lines.
To set the stage for such a venture I lost eighty pounds over a period of a eighteen months to address a prominent gut and double chin. I was resolute in my pursuit to seek a new lifestyle and not to employ medication to lose weight. I chose adopt a regime based on a nutritional balanced diet and exercise. The weight lose challenge was a personal litmus test to determine the measure of my commitment and conviction of my quest. I told myself that if I could achieve appreciable weight loss that I would pursue plastic surgery.
My extensive research led me to develop a detailed plan that was both sensible and prudent to address "my needs" over a span of two years.
Who am I? When I started my journey of reclamation I was a sixty-six years old male, an empty nester flying solo in the throes of winding down a career and a business. In addition, being confronted with the emotional impact of standing in front of a mirror and seeing the image of my father with his jowls, the lines and fading jawline which resulted in a personal reflective state of depression.
What motivated me was the recognition and emergence of plastic surgery as a possible means to afford a physical declaration of establishing a new relationship with the world and myself.
I decided upon a sequence of procedures, beginning with a FUE hair transplant, followed by a SMAS facelift, cervicoplasty, Blepharoplasty of the upper and lower eyelids and a subsequent extended Adominoplasty with muscle tightening.
Thorough due diligence allowed me to develop a list of surgical candidates to interview based on a criterion of experience, training, peer and patient review, research articles written, awards received, location and the X factor of personal ease, manner and chemistry.
As we all know, no matter the extent of one's due diligence the journey to leading to the right choice of a surgeon is fraught with uncertainty, risk, skepticism, anxiety, worry, conjecture and trepidation. All that said, we must rise above it all and persevere if we are to reach our goal.
Interviews were unremarkable from the point of constant glance of watches, perceived defensive postures, and a general sense of ill at ease when asked to provide answers an extensive list of probing and qualifying questions until I met Dr. Jeffery Schreiber.
Upon meeting Dr. Schreiber, his demeanor and disposition was so down to earth he immediately made me feel comfortable. He explained exactly what he could do for me and the rationale behind it. He welcomed my long list of questions and stated that he was gratified to see a prospective patient make a commitment to seek the necessary information to arrive at an informed decision.
I was most impressed by Dr. Schreiber's listening skills, honesty, empathy and patience. He shared with me his philosophy of the surgeon-patient relationship and realistic expectations. When I left Dr. Schreiber's office, I was convinced that I had found a surgeon who was above reproach in his care and concern for his patients and possessed impeccable and gifted skills as a surgeon.
Each follow visit and consultation was professional and thorough. I remember prior to each procedure feeling confident, well informed and knowing that I found the perfect surgeon for me.
To date, Dr. Schreiber has performed seven specific procedures, FUE hair transplant, SMAS facelift, Cervicoplasty, Blepharoplasty of the upper and lower eyelids and just recently, 1/14/16, an extended Abdominoplasty with concomitant muscle tightening.
Prior to each procedure, I reflected upon the writhing in pain and how best to cope with it. Not one procedure did I experience pain but rather no more than a level 3 of discomfort. As a consequence of my low pain experience I did not require pain medication except for choosing to do so upon each initial return home. I do recognize that the pain response and experience are individualized.
I did experience two occasions of acute pain following my abdominoplasty within
the first week when I coughed. Best described as eagle talons embedded in my stomach but quickly dissipated. Word to the wise think cough drops.
While having minimal pain throughout seven procedures I did experience a few side effects, a perpetual smile and a propensity for juvenile behavior. As an example, as a sixty-seven year old upon a follow up appointment I sat in the wait room with other patients WEARING A SIGN, "BODY BY SCHREIBER". I could see that I caught the eye of a woman sitting across from me. I told her and others, "that's right not only did he do my body but my face also". I went on and stated that I was sixty-seven and family and friends tell me I look fifty and at times act as a tweleve year old. When Dr. Schreiber walked into the treatment room he cracked up and told me that I was unbelievable. I correct him that it was he who was unbelievable by transforming my appearance, enhance my life and lift my spirits to heights not experienced in a long time by virtue of his God given talent. Other incidences of juvenile behavior, how many sixty-seven year olds do you know who goes around challenging family, friends and acquaintances to punch his stomach as a means to verify the strength of his board flat stomach while standing in front of the bathroom mirror punching himself while admiring his svelte profile? THERE IS NOTHING WRONG BEING SIXTY-SEVEN LOOKING 50 AND ACTING AS A TWELVE YEAR OLD. WHAT A PLEASURE IT IS TO MANIFEST JOY OF SELF AND HEART!!
Choosing plastic surgery is not an easy decision and it shouldn't be. Take advantage and benefit from my exhaustive research, due diligence and personal experience. Consider my seven procedures performed by Dr. Schreiber which exceeded my expectations and reinforced by incidences of validation by close inspection of family and friends. Just recently, I visited my dentist of twenty years, who exclaimed "you look terrific, where is the surgical scarring? You cannot tell you ever had surgery. It looks so natural."
Oblige yourself and accept a positive course of action and contact Dr. Schreiber. You will not find a more skillful and compassionate surgeon and a more responsive and friendly office staff. You can thank me later.
