I am a returning patient of Dr. Jeffery Schreiber...
I am a returning patient of Dr. Jeffery Schreiber due to the positive doctor - patient relationship established and the results obtained by the means of FUE technique.
I am a 67 year old male seeking a more youthful appearance following a 75 lbs. weight loss. Trite as it may seem, I did not feel may appearance reflected how I felt.
I fully subscribe to the sentiments of the Dylan Thomas short poem, Do Not Go Gentle Into The Night. I urge everyone to read the poem for it will bolster your spirits as you track your quest along the plastic surgery highway.
In the past couple of years, I realized then when I looked into a mirror I saw the reflection of my father not of myself. I viewed jowling, an emerging "turkey neck", wrinkling around the eyes, folding of the eyelids and the deepening of the nasolabial folds which sparked the primal retort, "how could this be and when did
this happen"? The emotional impact of my mortality was profound.
As before, Dr. Schreiber was most generous with his time as I launched into a clinical fact finding inquiry, of facial, neck and eye procedures. Which procedure, why protocol specifics, anticipated pain levels, recovery duration, transitory side effects, expected results, etc., etc.. To Dr. Schreiber's credit his answers were complete and his reaction was, "you certainly have done your homework, I respect your effort for thoroughness and detail".
Following a comprehensive facial, neck and eye examination complete with photographs, computer software detailing achieved procedural results recommendations were proposed. I chose a SMAS facelift, neck lift coupled with upper and lower eye surgery with an overnight hospital stay.
On August 20, 2015 the surgery was performed and completed and I was transported to the after care wing of the hospital which provides around the clock
nursing care.
I highly recommend the overnight hospital stay regardless of family and friends being available. During my hospital stay an attending nurse suggested that I request bowls of nice chips and wrap the ice chips in cotton gauze and repeatedly apply to the face and eyes every five to ten minutes throughout my stay. In hind sight, her suggestion was profound for I experienced minimal swelling and bruising while not discounting Dr. Schreiber's superlative surgical skills.
The morning following surgery Dr. Schreiber was at my bedside examining initial results, changing dressing and buoying my spirits.
I was mentally prepared to be racked with and writhing in pain. This was my first invasive surgical experience as a man of 67 and elective at that. Thankfully, I was wrong. My after care pain level was no more than 2-3 level of discomfort NOT pain. No pain medication was required though I did take medication upon returning home. I am a big baby when it comes to pain. When I have blood drawn, I clench my teeth and slam shut my eyes and demand a lollipop for my "pain and suffering".
It is worthwhile to mention the application of the non-opioid drug ,exparal a long lasting ,( three days) analgesic blocking pain during and following surgery. It is a blessing, no acute pain for the first three days just think of it. Ask your surgeon if he subscribes to exparal for your own sake. It will make your surgical experience all the better.
The following day of my return home Dr. Schreiber called to see how I was doing and asked if I had any questions or concerns about after care and he gave me his personal phone number if I should need to contact him. This man cares above and beyond, very impressive!
I planned to be a shut-in for two weeks while I healed. I experience minimal pain, swelling and bruising by the end of the first week and was suffering from cabin fever and eager to re-enter the world as the "new me".
As unremarkable as my recovery was my results were nothing short of fantastic!!! No sagging jowls, mid and lower face smooth with reduced nasolabial folds, a well defined jawline, a smooth and taunt neck with NO hint of ever having a "turkey neck". My eyes "twinkle" due to absence of under eye wrinkling and the sagging and drooping of eyelids.
Friends and clients who were unaware of my venture say they never seen me better. Friends who knew were awed by my results and how natural it looked. Three confidents gave me a close inspection looking for incision lines around the ears, under the chin and around the eyes. They could not find any incision markers and exclaimed, "you look so %#$@ good and so natural".
Personally, I am thrilled with my results which have exceeded my expectations. I'm in disbelief that Dr. Schreiber was able to transform my countenance as he had.
Now when i look in a mirror I see the "new me" emanating the appearance and vitality of a 50 year old with a twinkle in his eye. Sorry dad.
