Welcome to RealSelf :)   Would you share your tips and tricks during recovery with the ladies on the site?   It is really nice to hear from everyone so we are all able to learn from each other.

Do you have pictures you care to share.  We are a visual group out here!

What would you say is your biggest complaint so far in your recovery?

Hi Kimmers,
I have before pics that I took myself but no "afters" yet. I will post some soon! BTW..Where do I go to post those?
As far as my recovery, I really expected the worst. I was thinking I would be completely bed-ridden for the first few days. Surprisingly I was able to move around the house slowly and carefully. It really felt better to stand than sit at first. My pain is not so bad except for getting up and down. My leather sofa has been best for me getting comfortable- I think because it is easy to slide around on without lifting your body too much.
My biggest complaint is the constipation. I tried to be prepared for that by taking Miralax several days before the surgery. I feel like if I could just have a normal bowel movement I would feel so much better! Still taking stool softeners and glycerin suppositories to try to get things back to normal.Ugh!
The other thing is that your back gets so tired from stooping over. I have one of those gel ice packs...thanks for your advice about that Kimmer! It has been a lifesaver!

The best way I can explain the pain is a burning sensation where the incision is. The lipo areas are just sore like someone slammed you with a baseball bat!

Reading your post I was having flash backs to my recovery....OUCH.  Over all it sounds like you are doing very well.  Hang on because it does get easier.

I loved looking down and seeing the flat tummy!  I would always look in amazement and just smile :)  For years I was not able to see my Va Jay Jay when standing up.  Funny the little things that excite us...

Did you try taking the Milk of Magnesia?  A couple of full doses of that will clean out the pipes quickly.  You will feel like a new woman after that little episode.  We will all do the poopy dance for you...LOL

Some of that burning sensation is the pressure from the bowels being full...UGH right!

For posting your pictures just log into your profile and go under the "Edit" button.  From there you will see at the bottom of the page where you upload pictures.  Let me know if you have problems with that and I will help you out.

Hang in there and keep me up to date as you go!

Yay!!! Milk Of Magnesia success! Thanks for the recommendation.
January 29, 2011

LOL...must have been the poopy dance I did for you.   I love that stuff!  It makes you go but doesn't give you cramps.  Tastes like nasty chalk but works so well that it is worth it!

Thanks for posting the pics!

I have uploaded my 1 week post-op photos now. I am very pleased with my results so far. BTW...any suggestions on how to get rid of those gorgeous purple marks where the doc marked me before the surgery?
User Avatar
January 29, 2011
I am so thrilled to hear you love your results!! I don't see your after photo but rubbing alcohol takes it off but I not sure if they recommend using it after your tummy tuck. I used it when they marked me at the consultation back in Oct.
It is good to see the milk of magnesia works so well. I might have to get some just to be ready!!

So the lipo do you think it is more painful than the tummy tuck area? My doc was going to so little lipo on my love handles. Thanks for your post

I think it takes 24 hrs for the photos to update so they should show up sometime today.
As far as the lipo...it just makes you very sore and at first it did seem worse than my tummy.

Thanks for the photo info. Really the lipo is that bad...dang that makes me worry about the love handles but it will be worth it to have them gone!! Its one of those things I have no matter how much I drop lol.
January 31, 2011

Oh my gosh you look awesome!!  What a difference!

The purple marks will come off after a few showers...no worries!

Thank you! My daughter signed up on the site a couple of days ago with her testimonial and before/after pics. I have tried to search for her profile and it's not showing up. Her username is DixieTexas. Is there another way to find her on the site?
Maybe it's just not updated yet?

Hey Julie,
I have posted some after shots now. Still some pretty ugly bruises from lipo, but it's still early...7 days since the tummy tuck.
Do you have yours scheduled yet?
User Avatar
January 29, 2011
Ack, I don't see the after pics...

I am hoping to schedule it for the week that my kids are on spring break so that I can send them away. That would be the last week of March. Give or take a few days. I am willing to take them out early to schedule around the surgery too, if I had to. I am going to ask that at my consultation.

Thanks so much for the compliment. You will be so glad you did this..I am excited for you!

I haven't shared my tt news with many people here in my hometown yet. I am so happy with the way it looks that I kinda want to show it off! :))

I did have drains- 2 of them. I was very blessed that one was ready to come out 3 days post-op and the other at 5 days post-op. My daughter had her tt the same day as I did. Yes,we did it together and it has been a very special mom/daughter experience!

She still has one of her drains in at 9 days post-op.

How's it going for you? Just thinking about you...and wondered how your consult went. Are you excited?
User Avatar
February 12, 2011
Hey! Everything is good, thanks... starting to get to get a little nervous since i just basically wrote a check for more than what my closing costs were on my house!!! LOL. My pre op appointment went well, PS took my dreadful pics and I have completed my physical and blood work.
Makes it seem all too real now. I have to write a review when I have some time- grad school consumes all my free time.
How about you??
User Avatar

Had mine on the 02.11.11. I was excited until on the operating room got a little nervous. Woke up with pain but was able to tell myself I was glad I had it done. There will be pain and problems of discomfort when moving in bed and getting out.

1 week later started feeling less pain, bandage removed, stomuch swollen and tight but soooo flat. Tenth day started standing more upright, tightness remains but I am accepting it all because I know it was all worth it

I know exactly what you mean about the butterflies. I wouldn't even say out loud that I was going to have this done because I really thought I would chicken out!
Then I wrote the check...and I knew I was not backing out after that.
Are you going to post your pics? I would love to see your before and afters.
