How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.
If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

do not get a lower blepharoplasty here!
I struggled with whether or not to leave this review, but I really don't want anyone else to have to go through what I did, and waste their time & money.
I ended up choosing Dr Surek because he had incredible reviews. I researched and found that he also teaches other doctors, so he must know what he's doing right?
Our consult was short, but went well. I asked about lower eyelid options and CO2 laser. He seemed very confident when He suggested a lower blepharoplasty and lower lid chemical peel. I asked about fat grafting for contouring the area, since I had seen photos online & the results seemed very natural. He decided to do the Fat Grafting as well. This was my first cosmetic procedure so I wasnt sure what to expect. Still, I was excited to finally be rid of my eye bags, which have plagued me for years and no amount of sleep, excercise or healthy eating would improve.
Fast forward to Post Op:
DAY 1:
I return home only to find that I had a large purplish bruise - on the inside of my thigh near my crotch?! (Fat was taken from my abdomen, nowhere near my crotch area..so, I'm not sure where that came from! )
Seemed a little strange, but no one mentioned it so I just wrote it off and focused on healing.
I followed all directions exactly as written and I took off work for the next 2 weeks to make sure to be well rested.
2 WEEKS POST OP:
My eyes were healing and I was loving the results. The Skin under my eyes was smooth from the peel and the bags were reduced. I could still see the line and shadow of a bag, but i could see a difference and I was thrilled with how it was turning out.
THEN something happened over the next two weeks.. It appeared the fat grafting must not have worked because over the course of 2 weeks, my large puffy bags began to re-appear under my eyes and now you could barely see any difference at all. I tried convincing myself it was some sort of post surgical inflammation returning... there must be some explanation.
But I really knew something was up when my sister came to visit and asked me WHEN my surgery was scheduled for!
( My own sister thought I hadn't even had my surgery yet! )
After telling her what happened- She suggested that I share my concerns with Dr Surek on my next visit.
30 day (final post op:)
I show Dr Surek my eyes and gently ask what couldve happened to cause the bags to re-appear ?
This obviously bothered him because he suddenly had another appointment he had to get to, and became flippant to the point of seeming arrogant.
He never bothered to respond to my question, other than to tell me that "HE" thought it looked "fine" and how "HE" thought I must just have a case of "unrealistic expectations!"
Instead of communicating with me about what my options were at this point- (I would have paid for corrective surgery, or whatever he suggested..)
He just handed me a bottle of moisturizer as he walked out the door & saying it was a gift (making sure to inform me that it was a "very expensive" bottle of moisturizer) then simply walked out of the room.
I left feeling more confused than before- only now, somewhat guilty for ever voicing my concerns.
I never heard back from him or his office again. Now I cringe when I see my eyebags and think back to the amount of money I paid (in cash, and up front) and trust I put into Dr Surek only to be dismissed when things didn't go according to plan.
Dr Surek may be skilled in other areas- I cannot speak to those- BUT- if youre interested in having lower blepharoplasty-
I would highly recommend finding someone else, preferably an specialist in occuloplastics...
Because ZERO accountability or responsibility will be taken here, if things don't work out.
