WORTH IT
SO SO worth it!
5’9” - 150lbs - 36DDD to 36D (approximately)
I researched and prepared for this surgery for 4 years. I wanted to alleviate neck pain, correct my posture and improve the look of my chest - without implants.
Dr Horndeski did not disappoint!!!
We had two pre-op consultations and he was very thorough in his explanation. His entire staff was friendly, helpful and truly concerned with me and my needs. They were clear and unbelievably responsive to every question I had. I felt fully prepared on the day of surgery and clearly understood what the surgery and post-op would look like.
The most uncomfortable portion was having drains for a few days and it was sweet relief when they were removed - but it certainly wasn’t unbearable.
Dr. Horndeski assured me I would feel immediate relief on my neck and I felt and saw the posture change the next day. The LACK of discomfort by Day 7 was a huge surprise. But the biggest shocker was seeing my 18 year-old boobs again (it’s been a while...)
I’m only one week post-op, so there are plenty of changes to come over the next 6 months, but so far, I’m ecstatic!

2 Week Update
JustMeDJanuary 31, 2020
It’s been 14 days, so time to remove the steri-strips and send update photos to Dr H.
A few things I noticed (which I learned are all normal):
1. Each side is healing differently.
2. There was some puffiness where the steri-strips once held my skin more flat.
3. There are some large indentions. These are strategically places anchor stitches to keep the sutures from riding up and should pop in a few weeks.
Because I felt better so much sooner than I anticipated, I have to remind myself I am still VERY early in the healing process and there are still a lot of changes to come.
In that same vein, I also should share my newly recognized discomforts:
1. Sleeping on my back : ( I was surprised at the beginning of how easy it was to sleep on my back. What I didn’t connect was that the ease was likely due to all the medication that knocked me out. Since day 7, I’ve stopped all medicine and as a result, wake up frequently when I roll on my side. It’s not necessarily uncomfortable, but more like I’m sleeping lightly because I worry about rolling over.
2. Bras! 24/7. Uuuuughhh
2nd verse same as the first.
With meds, it didn’t bother me. Now I want freedom. BUT- I’m protecting my investment by following the doctor’s orders. I’m hoping at some point I just stop noticing it.

3 Week Update
JustMeDFebruary 6, 2020
So today marks Week 3 and I expect it’s going to be similar and slow moving for the next 9+ weeks. When not using my arms I really have zero discomfort from my pecs. But I will say I continue to be surprised by the little movements that I feel immediately in my pecs - like opening a medicine bottle or reaching for the remote. So I do get constant reminders that my muscles are healing and not to push it.
So what’s new?...
Angry areoles. Yep. I said it.
Some how in all my research and consultations, I never thought to ask about what to expect. Nipples? Yep. I asked a lot of questions there, but somehow missed this big one. So here’s what I noticed over the last week:
I started feeling really irritated on my areoles. Not sharp pain, but a constant discomfort that would increase as the day goes on. It almost feels as if I took a was cloth and just rubbed them. A lot. With a DRY cloth.
I tried switching bras but it’s consistent and constant. The good news is it resets over night, so I at least have relief in the morning. Elise shared that this is normal and should subside between 6 - 8 weeks. Knowing that helps a lot. In the mean time, I’m just trying to focus on the positive and next steps.
So now I’m trying to work on my posture. Right after the surgery my posture was beautiful. I suspect it’s because I had no pain, so I didn’t try to compensate. I’ve fallen back into old habits, so I’m paying close attention and resetting my posture when I notice it. It’s going to take time, BUT I don’t feel the restrictions I did pre-surgery. I’m sure I’m on the right track!
