I have always had a bump on my nose that I was unhappy with, and at the same time I was a terrible snorer (I even had a sleep study done to make sure I didn't have underlying issues such as sleep apnea). When I finally decided to investigate surgery, I asked my physician for a few referrals. While they were all good candidates, Dr. Chatham was the only one who was a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon AND a Board Certified ENT. Others focused on purely the aesthetic part of my surgery, but he was adamant that he do a full septoplasty (really, he completely reconstructed my nose) as well as a rhinoplasty. He promised me that he would give me a working nose, "and while I'm there, I'll make sure it's beautiful." I am so glad I chose Dr. Chatham. After the surgery, my friends and family didn't think I looked all that different, which is exactly what I wanted- I didn't want to look like someone else, I just wanted to look like a better version of me. My nose is fully functional (I am a heavy breather when I sleep, but the worst of the snoring is gone), and I rarely get sinus infections now- I used to get them regularly. All of that, and the bump which started the whole thing is gone!
As for the experience itself and the recovery, I was beyond pleased. Dr. Chatham is extraordinarily strict about post-op procedures (he requires a stay in the hospital overnight), but he promised that if I followed his instructions exactly, I would have a good recovery. He was right. He never had to pack my nose, which meant there was considerably less swelling than I had seen in other peoples' pictures. By a week after surgery, there was no bruising, no swelling, no racoon-eyes, no nothing. By two weeks after surgery, it was like the whole thing had never happened. I was shocked but thrilled.
Dr. Chatham and his staff all have fabulous bedside manners, and are quick to call to check in. My surgery was a number of years ago (I only found him on this site now or I would have reviewed him sooner), and I STILL get a card from his staff every year on my birthday. During the surgery itself, my parents came to stay with me. My dad is a physician, and he couldn't say enough about the professionalism of Dr. Chatham's staff, the nursing staff at the hospital, or Dr. Chatham himself.
If I ever consider another procedure, I will certainly return to Dr. Chatham. I highly recommend him.
