WORTH IT
Having undergone four breast augmentations and/or revisions over the past 15 years, I am not new to implants or the emotions that go along with the appearance of our breasts. Therefore, when I say that INSPIRAs offer something more than other implants - something that can make a real difference - it comes from a lot of personal experience. With my INSPIRA implants, I now have the best of both worlds – a look that perfectly combines the features I loved about my overfilled salines with the benefits of gels.
After over 10 years with round, moderate profile, submuscular, overfilled saline implants (and some long-standing capsular contracture on the right), I thought it was a good time to go ahead and switch out my implants, but this time to gels. I decided on round, high profile Mentor Memory Gels placed under the muscle. I truly went into the surgery with reasonable expectations. I knew that my breasts were far from perfect and wasn’t even going for “better.” I just wanted to retain some of those things I liked about my overfilled salines – specifically the size, roundness, and upper pole fullness.
Unfortunately, upon waking from surgery, it was obvious that the Memory Gels did not give me the look I wanted for my body. I no longer had what I liked about my previous breasts and, to make matters worse, had new problems I never anticipated. Sure, they were softer and my surgeon had corrected the capsular contracture, but the implants themselves offered none of the things I cared about. Anytime I was upright, they collapsed, revealing my totally flat chest wall and then abrupt, very large torpedo-shaped breasts. Thanks to the inescapable force of gravity on planet Earth, no amount of shortening bra-straps or trying different bras to push up the implants could change this - they'd just collapse. I totally regretted not leaving well-enough alone and wished I had my not-so-perfect overfilled salines back. I gave it some time to see if I could learn to like them or at least accept them, but to no avail.
I ended up going in to see Dr. Salzman for a consultation and to discuss my options. He suggested trying INSPIRAs which have only recently become available in the U.S. They have a “higher fill ratio” than others which means that the implant itself is filled-up more and, therefore, should not collapse as much. I held some of the samples and could really see the difference when comparing them to regular gel implants. The INSPIRAs still collapsed slightly, but FAR less than the others. Logically, I knew it had to be at least a little better than what I had been living with, so I went for it.
When I awoke from my surgery, I peeked and could immediately see a significant difference with the INSPIRAs! I was in a semi-reclined position and it was obvious that I had large, rounded breasts and upper-pole fullness. I was so happy! Little did I know that, once I got home, I would see many other great things the INSPIRAs have given me: softness (surprisingly even softer than the Memory Gels), no wrinkles, cleavage (the deep valley between my breasts is gone), and a nice slope from my chest wall, despite having very little breast tissue. Frankly, I would’ve been perfectly happy to have large, rounded breasts with upper pole fullness like with my overfilled salines. I am thrilled that I now have all those and more!

I have enjoyed reading your post and journey very much. I too just had inspira placed (perhaps 48 hours prior to your surgery) - a bit different case for reconstruction, but reassuring that you are so happy with your outcome. May your surgeries be in the past and thank you for such a well written post. Best to you.

Thank you! Best wishes to you as well! :-)

Do you know if you had the soft touch or responsive type implants? I had a revision and changed my responsives for soft touch as they have a slightly more cohesive fill for better shape. I have very little breast tissue but very happy with Inspiras too! x

I am a different person who just had inspiras out in but I belive at this time 9/2015 here in the US only the responsive has been FDA approved in the US. In Canada and europe they have the soft touch but we only have the responsive to choose from but there is full and x full profile. Hope that helps answer even if I am not the original intended person but a fellow Inspira recipient.

sorry my typo -meant to read
just had inspiras put in not the word out in first line.
September 23, 2015
Hi! I found out they are the the responsives.
September 23, 2015
Oops! Luvtiramisu already said that - sorry! She is right!

Thanks for the clarification - I'm in the UK so had no idea about FDA restrictions

Sar40 having jsut recieved the responsive I am so curoius as to the difference in feel/look of the soft touch as you mention you have had them both. We never got the soft touch approved here in US as of yet and curious why you had switched? Was it due to rippling?
September 30, 2015
I found the responsives to be less firm than the soft touch and assumed rippling would be lessened although to be honest there's very little difference once they're in. I had a very kind surgeon who exchanged them for free though. I have almost zero breast tissue so a certain amount of rippling is inevitable I suppose. I have 295cc and wanted to go bigger but was scared of rippling getting worse but mcg612's implants look SO good I wish I had gone bigger!

Thank you for responding Sar40. May I ask what profiles you had with both responsive and soft touch? I believe mcg612 has the moderate and I just got the full. Seems we all had little breast tissue prior to and I really have none due to masectomy and was so afraid of rippling. I was dissapointed that we didnt get the other cohesive Inspira's approved here in the USA as I too thought it would be less rippled and hold its shape better in the Soft touch so I naturally am super curious to your opinion and experience having had both. I am only 2 weeks out . So far I am very pleased and losing weight due to the stress of this journey ( I am 5'3.5 and about 100 lbs I am surprised that I dont have a shelf , that it blends nicely and naturally. I will probably not be able to go braless due to nature of my situation and support the thin tissue and minimize rippling but they came out better than I expected. I didnt know what size I was going to wake up with - went in with 3-4 sizes. Did your surgeon use the same cc's in the exchange? That is Amazing that your surgeon switched them for free. Wow! that is a surgeon that wants you to be happy.

I'm from the uk also if you don't mind me asking, what doctor did you go too for the implants?
October 14, 2015
Mr Gill at the Nuffield in Taunton Somerset. He's a big fan of Allergan Inspiras and a great surgeon
October 14, 2015
I went from 255 moderate profile to 295 full profile. Being petite I didn't want to go too big so opted for extra projection and slightly bigger although scared to go too big incase rippling worsened. My surgeon had a years guarantee for problems occurring and allowed the fact that I was unhappy with them even though they were surgically ok to swap them 6 months later. The Soft a Touch are firmer but I can still feel them through my thin skin and lack of tissue but I don't think I could improve on them unless I did something more drastic like fat transfer but I wouldn't go there as I've heard it's rarely successful

My PS used Natrelle Inspira 365cc and I love them. I only had these girls for three weeks and love the look feels natural. Congratulations

You too! I read your post. I'm so happy for you!!!

What projection did he use?
September 28, 2015
Love your results! Did you have rippling or could you feel the implant with the Mentor gels? Do you mind providing the description or number style info so I can research them? Thanks!:)
September 28, 2015
Thx! I am still thrilled with these INSPIRAs! I will post more photos soon. I did have rippling with the Mentor gels. However, I don't know if it would've been less with a bigger/wider/lower-profile implant. I definitely felt the weight and hanging of the implants when I had the Memory Gels. If you look in the photos, I think you can see why.
With the INSPIRAs, I feel like the implants are more a part of me. I like that I have less projection and my implants are wider. I can easily palpate the implants and feel them if I hug someone, but keep in mind that I gave virtually no breast tissue - I'm all implant. ;-) My implants are INSPIRAs round, moderate profile, responsive 485cc. :-)

Thanks for the review! I had BA today and found out they were using inspiras. Dr thought they were great so said go ahead and use. Got 310cc srx...think it's the ultra high profile due to my narrow chest dimensions. Obviously hard to tell too much, but from what I can see they ares going to be great one they drop.

I'm so happy to hear that! I hope you're as happy as I am!

I am still so happy with how these look! It still has not totally registered with me. Never, in my wildest dreams, did I think I could have breasts that looked like this!

Do you have ripples or can you feel the implants?
October 10, 2015
No ripples at all. As far as feeling them, I feel like they are "me!"

Are you going to take more personal pictures? I can hardly see anything. Just explanted hopeful I won't need crutches but was wrong. I'm reimplanting in 3-6 months. Mentor's 375 cc hp appeals to me most size wise I'm very open to high fills though. Had some rippling with anatomical I had before and fear that soft gel may make rippling even more apparent.
I'll be appreciative if you post updates.
Thank you.

marmolade I was so afraid of rippling with round soft gels and I am surprised it isnt as bad I thought. I have absolutely no breast tissue , only thin skin flap from masectomy and I am all implant w/ inspira full ( 450) and it's slightly higher fill helps with rippling. Comes in more incremental sizes too . may want to consider or compare to Mentor.
MCG612 I appreciate your side by side pics to compare but on this site it keeps them small ( not the breasts the pictures lol) and any updated close ups are very helpful since our inspira surgeries are at same time frame. Love how happy you are and after 4 surgeries I am so happy for you! Since these implants are new here in the states not many have them yet. You have been reassuring on my choice!

Hi Marmolada, Yes I have , a bilateral nipple sparing and so the implants are 100 percent me and because of my thin skin I was a huge candidate for rippling, especially with no breast tissue to cushion the implant. I was curious of the new more filled implant coming here to states for FDA approval that had been used in Canada, AUstralia and Europe ( although I believe it only had a 5 - 6% higher fill than current Allergan hp 20 , I needed every bit of fill. It collapses less outside of the body when you compare the implants. Originally it was recommended to put in an anatomical to reduce rippling and hold shape, but due to a rotated expander I felt safer with a round shape. Also the sizing is better for smaller sizes in Inspira. There are two forms called responsive which we have here and soft touch which they have to choose from outside US a bit more cohesive also referred to as true form 1 and 2. My surgeon brought in 4 sizes in OR as I didnt know what I was going to wake up with from sizing in 300 through 400's. I am surprised ( only 3 plus weeks out) how unrippled I am. When leaning forward you will see it some and very slight on sides but same with my BA friends who says it can come with implants in general. It is really a beautiful shape. I dont know much about a sientra 107 more form stable round that may be available as of recent, but Inspira is not much different from what has been on market for years but better fill and sizing. I am sorry after making the explant decision you have to go back and get a " crutch" but they do come in smaller sizes and have a nice shape. They come in low, moderate, full and x full profiles. You may be please with moderate or full depending on size of your BWD. compare it to the mentor that you are considering and hope it helps you choose what is best for you. There is also a new ideal saline implant that just came out this month. SOmetimes dr. will present only what they have but there are other choices and slight variations to different implants and manufactures. I have smooth btw and not textured. Hope this is helpful to you.

How long would you say your recovery has been? I plan to take a week off work... just nervous for my return! If I am wearing the bra they give and the compression band is this going to be noticeable? I work in a corporate office where we are business casual. I haven't seen many people talk about this and its been on my mind!
October 19, 2015
Congrats! Since this was my fourth surgery and the muscle was not cut, I had very little pain. I didn't even need pain pills. After my first two surgeries where the muscle was cut, however, I did have some discomfort, but very manageable. I took pain pills the first day. I took a week off each time and was very ready to go back. :-)

The side profile pics of your inspiras are amazing - they made such a difference to your upper pole fullness. You look great!!!! I'm a huge fan too - had my inspiras 3 months ago and I loved them from day one :-)
