In my first consult with Dr T, I kept saying, “I’m just not the type to have plastic surgery” and “I want to be the type of mom who shows My kids I embrace my body the way it is” “I want to accept myself and not conform to societal norms of beauty and youth etc”. But- I was miserable with my body post kids. I avoided any nudity whatsoever - I didn’t even like getting dressed in front of my kids. My self confidence was in the toilet- so in a way it didn’t matter what I wanted my kids to think, because I couldn’t really hide the dislike and disappointment I felt when I looked in the mirror. And it affected my health- I was stuck with an extra 15 pounds I couldn’t get the motivation to lose, I wasn’t treating my body with the love and care it deserved. And let’s not even talk about sex- or lack there of. During my consultation we talked about a lot of this stuff. Dr T was funny and practical and pragmatic. He didn’t sugar coat things but gave me a very objective perspective on why it wouldn’t actually be compromising my values to have surgery to assist me in finding peace and happiness within my own skin. He gave me a few different options- a breast lift with implants, a breast lift without implants (with them the option to put in implants at a later date), and a breast lift with fat transfer - from my tummy thighs and back- to fill in my breasts. In the end I chose the latter- a breast lift with fat transfer. Vicky was terrific in explaining the costs- which felt pretty fair all in all. I also appreciated how NORMAL everyone in the office is- not overly done up or Hollywood- just lovely naturally beautiful people. My surgery went well- the recovery was tougher than I expected- but at the 1 month post op I was pretty much back to normal. I was immediately thrilled with the results. I think Dr T does a great job about being realistic about results and timing, as well as reminding patients that it is as much of an art as it is a science. And I will say- I think my breasts now look better than they did even when I was a teenager! Not only has it given me way more confidence and self love, but it also kick started a much healthier lifestyle for me as well as a more disciplined approach to self care. I think my kids see me happier and more confident, and sex? Well, that’s been MUCH better as well! My daughter loves the song “Most Girls” by Hâlée Steinfeld- and one of the lines in the song says “ some days you feel so good in your own skin... but it’s ok if you want to change the body that you came in” - to me, that pretty much sums up my experience. And I think Dr T is an absolutely terrific doctor for anyone who’s ready to reinvent what they see in the mirror and wants a little professional assistance.
