1 Year Later

Just had my 1year post op, and I couldn’t be happier with my results! I remember how nervous I was going into it last year, but I knew that I chose the right surgeon after years of hours and hours of online research I finally found my dr. He is honest and a straight shooter which after noumourous other consults was refreshing. His skills in my opinion are the best in he world as far as rhinoplasty’s go. I have reasearched doctors since I turned 18 and after 6/7 consults finally at 30 finally found Dr.Rahban. Best investment of my life. I am now confident and feel beautiful in my own skin. He is known for giving you natural results without looking over done or like you even had work done. There are not enough words I can express to tell you of your looking to fix your nose, his is your guy! Trust me I did all the reasearch for you, as a paralegal researching is my job. I didn’t want to share my photos as I am a very private person, but I want others to see how amazing this surgeon is!

I have sat here a few times trying to write up the perfect review, so I can help others with my personal experience, and truly express my journey. But, then when I think of the word "perfect" It brings me back to my first meeting with Dr. Rahban when I met him at my consultation where he explained to me that no one or nothing is ever perfect and seeking perfection is ultimately a let down. he stight up told me in my consult that he may not give me a "perfect" nose but it will be a better one , a more fitting nose, a more appeasing nose. Well he was wrong, my new nose is a perfect little nose, or at least perfect for me. not too big, not too small, but just right! before I go and tell you how much I love my new nose and how much it has changed me and how extremely pleased with I am with the results and the work that Dr. Rahban has done I would like to take you back to my surgery day and recovery time only because I experienced some things I didn't read in reviews and would have made me feel better to know that others have experienced the same. My story is about the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful. kind of in that order too. The Consultation(Good): This had been my 5th and final consultation. I have been wanting surgery since I have been 12 years old when I noticed my nose was significantly larger than both my brother and sister and most of my peers. I had a classic Italian nose, dorsal hump and all. I have been very self conscious about it my entire life. I always avoided being filmed or photographed from profile angles, always held my head at an angle to avoid people seeing my profile even while driving. Once I had to refused to be in a family cartoon drawing out of fear on how the guy would make my nose look. On other consults I have had digital imaging and met some nice and a few 'ok" doctors, but after the consults I had an uneasy feeling or the staff would hound me for pressure to book. In those situations I just couldn't go through and book with them (thank god I didn't). When I met Dr.Rahban he was a forward and was straight and to the point. He also didn't mind me bringing my 6yr old with me to the consult. (i wanted him to be apart of my journey so he knew what was going on and not just come home to a bruised up bandaged mommy one day) Dr.Rahban was patient with us, never rushed and gave me his full attention. I never once felt pressure in booking an appointment like times before. His staff was kind and sweet and patient. After I met with Dr.Rahban I knew he was the one. Not only is he a plastic surgeon but he is a reconstructive surgeon as well. He knows his stuff! So there it is after 5 consultations I have finally found the right doctor for me, someone who listened when I said I want to look natural, I only want the hump gone. he didn't waist my time by showing me all these different "nose" options with digital imaging. That I liked because I knew he didn't use Photoshop as his before and after shots as I have seen some do (When looking be careful of that). I have seen hundreds if not thousands of before and after photos during my search, that is how I found Dr. Rahban. In my opinion he is the best of the best! his style is subtle and natural. Exactly what I have been looking for. I decided he was worth the trip so I booked my consultation. (6 hr car trip). As an out-of town patient all the trips to and from all my appointments have been well worth it. Pre/op My pre-op I was given all my medications fills. ( I dropped them all off at the pharmacy even over the counter just to make sure I had everything I needed. While I was there I expressed my fears and concerns of a freak accident happening to me, or not waking up from the surgery. You know the normal things one stresses before doing a major surgery. He was very reassuring and gave me numbers and how everyday thousands of people have surgery and wake up. I was pleased with his demeanor and calming me and my crazy irrational thoughts. As I am sure he has to explain it time and time again that the likelihood of not waking up is highly highly unlikely.. ( ohh and I am not writing from the grave, I am very much alive and well). You also take your before photo at this time. Surgery Day O-mann this was it, I was nervous, scared , and having silly second thoughts while I was there all gowned up. the only real fear I had was to go under. because I knew who I picked and I knew I picked the best. Also I had this little voice saying " S you have done your due diligence and you are in the best hands, everything will be fine" if you book Dr.Rahban you know this. You are in the best of hands. As I checked in I was so nervous I made my husband leave and sent him back to our hotel while I gowned up. Hours later I woke up.. In recovery and while reading other online reviews 99% of people wake up fine and just a little groggy. I am that other 1% . when I awoke I felt extreamly sore, and started throwing up , i was scared and thought that there was something wrong with me because i didn't read about this in the reviews. but luckily the nurse reassured me that there is a SMALL percentage of people who have sensitivities to the medications. She helped me and stayed with me until i felt better. I threw up some blood and was having a hard time getting rid of the nauseous feeling. The same thing happened to me when I went under for my appendix so this was just my reaction to the general anesthesia. After I got what was in my tummy out I was fine. The nurse was amazing and so kind she helped me get into my car and off to the hotel we went. ( all I remember from the car ride was being very sore and nauseous) The Pain: Well I have heard that most patients don't even need the pain meds, I almost didn't get them. But, thank god I did. come to find out my rhinoplasty wasn't your run of the mill nose job. Poor Dr.Rahban ran into some complications. When he went in to reset my nose or do his magic my bone completely crumbled, he explained it was like a windshield cracking due to previous fractures I have had. (Played a lot of sports while young and took a lot of hits to the nose). I ended up also having some staples in my head where he had to take some muscle from to rebuild my nose. After I heard this about my surgery all I kept thinking was THANK GOD I WENT TO DR. RAHBAN with his experience as a reconstructive surgeon I was in the right hands. I truly believe god brought me to him and that is why I was never able to go through with booking with anyone else. I am terrified to think what I could have looked like if I went with another.. I am so thankful that I chose Dr.Rahban. What was scheduled to be a 3hr surgery turned into a little over 5 hr surgery. I am so grateful he didn't just close me up and said “oh well” with him you would never have to have that worry. He did whatever it took to make sure I had the best results possible. He is dedicated to his patients and goes above and beyond. I also had some soreness on the roof of my mouth at first I was concerned about but after further research and questioning found that to be normal as well. 1-Week Post Op- the ugly/bad : So your nose is bandaged up, like a mustache thing covering the bottom. There is tons of packing in your nostrils so during this time you cannot breath. The bottom has some blood and is kinda gross. I found the first week to be kinda painful. I recommend to use this time to catch up on shows and movies you have been wanting to see. Also don’t eat anything that is hard. Stick to softer textured foods. You only have one breathing hole at this point so I suggest you stalk up on straws. Straws were my life saver while drinking fluids. Week 2 The Good: The packing and casting was removed and replaced with a small nose splint. More so just tan tape over your nose. This one you can breath through you nostrils and boy can you tell the difference from before. I cant believe how much better I can breath. You notice an immediate difference ( I also had a deviated septum) .he looks inside and clears out the packing. Feels so bazaar having that stuff pulled out of your nose. At this point I got a little glimpse of my nose, where I kinda freaked out. This is the time you really need to trust in your surgeon and know that the end result will be beautiful. But I am not gonna lie, the first few weeks are not so pretty. The swelling goes up and down, and for me my tip was really swollen. Also, looking in the mirror for the first time to a new reflection after 30 years is an experience all in itself. I was actually happy to have the second cast put on. Week 3 or 4: Tape/final split had been removed. I looked in the mirror ans was pleased to see my bump gone, but was still kinda in shock at my new reflection. During this time Dr. Rahban told me not to take selfies and during the next few weeks the nose swelling will start the go down and will look better and better. I suggest to avoid looking in the mirror during this time too, you don’t want to trip yourself out. The nose tip can be so swollen that it almost looks turnt up, but this is NOT the case and is just where all the swelling is because that is the incision point is. I was worried at first but kept reminding myself I choose the best and everything will be fine. As I suspected the selling started to go down and my nose started to go into its new natural position. Week 6 Post Op- The beautiful: By week 6 I have noticed most my swelling has gone away. I went into my consult and Dr. Rahban took my after photo. Informed me throughout the next few months I will be noticing changes in my nose looking more slender and defined. At this point I am already so pleased with it its hard to imagine that it can be better than what it is. Most my family was against me doing this and now after seeing the end results they ALL tell me how beautiful I look and what a great job my surgeon has done, and the best compliment to date was when my husbands grandmother told me it looks like a nose I was born with, or should have been born with. Week 7 I am ever so happy with my results, everything I expressed in my consult was addressed and fixed. I Love my new nose. I love the results, and I excited to live the rest of my life with that burden of being self conscious about my face is gone. It is such a weight lifted. All those tears gone. I will never cry again after seeing photos of myself posted on social media. I feel FREE. Over All Experience: From my consult to now I have had a great experience with both Dr.Rahban and his staff. Someone always got back to me whenever I had a question. Rahban and his team or both professional caring. The kinda people you would want to hang out and BBQ with after your appointment. I am not rich, I drive a simple my car is a $5,000 car. I have invested into houses and own a few rental properties . This is actually the most I have ever spent on myself. I am a shop on Amazon or Ross kinda gal. There are times and places to look for a “deal” and plastic surgery is NOT one of them. This is an investment, one you will have to live with forever. My rhinoplasty with Dr.Rahban was worth EVERY penny and if I had to rewind the clock I would do it all over again every part. The only thing I would have done differently would to have been to find him sooner, so I may have lived with this new nose longer.
