Provider Review
I've thought long and hard about writing this review. It's not in my nature to bad mouth others and even more importantly I actually really liked Dr. Emer. Unfortunately I can't say the same for his staff and my hope is merely to inform others so that they don't get taken advantage of the way I did. Like many others on Real Self I kept seeing Dr. Jason Emers' name come up and after seeing all his glowing reviews and his impressive Instagram I decided to book an appointment. I was happy with my current dermatologist for fillers and Botox but was interested in doing some anti aging skincare and love that Dr. Emer is young and stays on top of the game by offering the newest, most cutting edge technology. Upon meeting Dr. Jason Emer I was thoroughly impressed. He's everything you want in a doctor. He seems to genuinely care about his patients, seemed extremely knowledgeable and just like an all around good guy. I was really happy to have met him and was excited to start a skincare journey with him. After meeting with him, someone from his office sat down with me to talk pricing on the various treatment options and gave me print outs of pricing for each procedure. I'm probably a dream patient, while I'm not irresponsible or reckless, I also don't mind spending money on beauty and booked his recommended treatments. From here on out is where the disappointment begins. I won't get into each and every detail but I was in the office 4 or 5 times and every time something happened that shouldn't have and the offices general lack of organization and professionalism was very apparent. I had a chemical peel done that I was initially quoted $400 for. I've done many peels over the years, including several $1000 Cosmelan peels, and I know my stuff so I was familiar with the vi peel they were doing (Dr. emer was even impressed with my knowledge and asked if I was in the industy which I thought was adorable lol). I knew vi peels usually cost about $250-$300 but I expect to pay a little more in BH. When I went to pay they charged me $900 instead of the $400 they had quoted. I was surprised and asked about the price difference. I was told the esthetician had decided to do the strongest vi peel on the market so it would be more. If this was the case they certainly should have informed me prior to proceeding. I wasn't thrilled about it but I payed the $900. When I got home I did some research and there is no super strong version of the vi peel. I called other doctors offices and the strongest vi peel price range was anywhere from $200-$300. Totally unethical. I did a PRP 'vampire facial' for $1500 that I saw no difference from. I actually felt like they didn't even know what exactly they were doing. I've done them elsewhere where I was amazed with the results. I did a laser treatment that I think actually made my sun spots worse. I had an amazing facial but again felt I got completely swindled when I got sold nearly $1000 worth of products (with no itemized receipt) some of which she insisted I needed for laser/peel aftercare. When on another visit I asked how I should be using the products and she told me not to. Ok weird, total waste. After feeling like this office had totally taken advantage of me too many times I called twice and requested they email me copies of my receipts to which they never did. So unorganized. All in all I really like Dr. Jason Emer and think he's a talented doctor who may not even be aware of how unprofessionally his office is being run. I do think you're in capable hands with him, you just need to keep an eye on their billing etc.
