I had my facial feminization surgery with Dr....

I had my facial feminization surgery with Dr. Keojampa in February and wanted to wait several months before writing this review after the healing stage. I only looked for FFS surgeons who perform Type 3 forehead reduction. In my research, there are only a few surgeons in the world who actually perform this aggressive Type 3 forehead which is so important to achieve the ideal feminine face. Many FFS surgeons claim they perform the Type 3 but after consulting with them, their technique is to only shave the forehead bone instead of setting it back. After reading Dr. O's book which in his experience states that >95% of foreheads need a Type 3 and not just shaving, I only researched the surgeons who perform this procedure. My first consultation with Dr. Keojampa was in his office in Los Angeles, California. I live in Canada and while he also does skype consultations, I wanted to meet face to face so I flew to Los Angeles. His staff was friendly, accommodating, and he has one of the nicest offices I've seen with views of the pacific ocean. We spent the first 20 minutes or so discussing the story of my transition, how long I've been living full time as female and on hormones. He explained to me his experience with FFS and his trainingg with Dr. Spiegel where they performed a Type 3 Forehead on practically every patient. We then took CT scans in his office and reviewed them together. He showed me CT scans of females and males showing the differences. We then discussed the areas of my face that concerned me. The forehead definitely was my biggest concern as I feel my forehead is so prominent that it is a dead give away preventing me from passing as a woman. My nose and jaw also needed changes. He suggested Type 3 Forehead reduction, scalp advancement, rhinoplasty, lip lift, and jaw contouring. I didn't feel like he was trying to sell my on unnecessary procedures. He showed me extensive before and after pictures of his patients. I like that he does not share pictures of his FFS patients online so you will NOT find them anywhere on the internet. Its hard enough coming out as transgender let alone having your face plastered on the internet for advertising. He then went step by step in exact detail how he performs to procedure. He showed me the CT image guidance device he uses during surgery to see the CT scan realtime during surgery. He calibrated the device on my forehead and showed me the images moving while tracking the tip of his pointer. I've never seen any FFS surgeon use or offer this type of tech so I was very impressed. The consultation lasted a little over 1 hour. I felt very comfortable with the consult with Dr. Keojampa as he came off as friendly and I could tell he has a lot of experience working with transgender patients. After the consult, I flew back home and did some more research. I ultimately knew that Dr. Keojampa was the surgeon for me. I paid my deposit and booked my surgery date. I flew back to Los Angeles the day before surgery for the preop and again to review the plan for surgery. The day of my surgery, I was excited rather than nervous since I've waited so long for this. The surgery lasted about 7 hrs and I stayed a Serenity a surgical aftercare facility. The nurses there were amazing and took great care of me. No one misgendered me at all. Bruising around my face was intense at day 3 but came back down at day 5 or 6. I stayed in Los Angeles for 7 days at a hotel near his office. Day 7 was when the stitches came of out and I could already see that major changes despite having swelling. I was so happy. I flew back to Canada after 1 week in LA. Since my surgery, I haven't been misgendered when out in public. It took several months for the swelling to come down especially my jaw area. Overall, I am extremely happy with the attention of detail and service provided by Dr. Keojampa and his staff. Not only is he personable, he is extremely detailed in his explanation without being condescending that anyone can understand. I highly recommended him for anyone seeking FFS.
