After having had gastric sleeve surgery in 2013...

After having had gastric sleeve surgery in 2013 and having lost 100 lbs, rather than be elated with my new body I was sad with my bat wings, droopy shrunken breasts, and hanging belly. Countless hours at the gym were never going to fix these problems, believe me, I tried. I set out to consult with six different plastic surgeons and one after the next made me feel worse and worse about myself. Mind you, at the time I was 135 lbs and a size 0/2. The first one convinced me that I needed a full circumferential body lift, breast lift with implants, full arm tuck, full thigh tuck. Of course all of this came at a hefty $52,000 price tag. The second one convinced me that I needed all of the above in addition to a butt implant. That came with a hefty $50,000 price tag. By the time I met with the third and fourth plastic surgeons I was deflated…literally. Their quotes were also far lower ($14,000 and $22,000) but it was also clear to me that their experience with post-bariatric patients was not there and ultimately you get what you pay for. Dr. Katzen was the fifth plastic surgeon I consulted with. I’ll be honest, at that point I felt like a train wreck that only upwards of $50,000 could fix, and all cash because insurance wouldn’t cover any of my “vanity” procedures. I walked into his Beverly Hills office (literally around the corner from Rodeo Dr.) with a chip on my shoulder ready to be told all it would take to make me beautiful for a small fortune. I was so relieved to find that he was so knowledgeable and kind and the opposite of arrogant. His price, $28,000 for an extended tummy tuck and liposuction, breast lift with implants (I also ended up having a biopsy of a mass found in my breast), torsoplasty and full arm tuck. It was exactly everything I needed and at a bargain if you compare the first two surgeons. But that wasn’t what impressed me the most about Dr. Katzen, prior to my surgery he saw me twice more for pre-op appointments. We discussed the procedure at length, he explained to me that it would be 11 hours long and that he would come see me at the after care facility for as long as I remained there. Despite being a mother to three small children, I felt 100% safe in his hands. After my procedures he saw me almost on a weekly basis for the first four weeks, then at 6 weeks, 8 weeks and what feels like a million times more in the four ½ months since my surgery. I feel better and stronger than ever before. His after-care has been amazing, he is so patient, kind and pro-active. I would never trust another plastic surgeon like I do Dr. Katzen. He is truly an amazing man and such a skilled surgeon.
