I noticed I was losing my hair in my late teens, and at 22 years old I decided to do something about it.

I went online and researched all the possible surgery centers and surgeons. I had made appointments to speak with the ones I was most interested in because I wanted to see their results in person. It turned out that not one surgeon would let me talk to a former patient. They could only show me photos. I didn't feel comfortable making such a huge decision by simply going off of photos.

Then I contacted NHI. They informed me of a monthly open house they were holding where I could see their patient's results in person as well as ask questions.

When I arrived at NHI I was greeted by friendly NHI staff members and surgeons as well as the NHI patients. I was astounded at how natural all of the patient's hair looked, and would never guess they had a procedure if I didn't see the "before and after" photos. I went home to think about it. The following day I came to the conclusion that NHI was the best option for my hair transplant procedure.

I called to set up a consultation, and about a week later I met with Dr. Rassman. He was friendly and very knowledgable, and he understood about hair loss as he is a hair transplant patient himself. He went over what would happen during and after the procedure. I left the meeting feeling very comfortable with the decision I made to have NHI perform my hair transplant surgery.

When I arrived for the procedure at 7am the NHI staff was very friendly. They went over what was going to happen during the surgery and answered any questions I had. Then I was given mild medication and antibiotics.

The surgery took about 6 hours, although I didn't notice the time as I was busy talking to the staff, watching movies, eating lunch, and even slept during the procedure .

After the surgery I was given post-op instructions as well as a tennis bandage around my head and a hat to wear. The staff waited as a taxi came to drive me home that day. Not only was it the whole procedure painless, it was actually enjoyable! The staff and doctors at NHI are top notch, very pleasant to be around.

The recovery period: The first two nights I slept with my head elevated on the pillow. I had a bit of swelling after the first day, and was given medication to help. Within 3 days I was back at work and no one noticed I had surgery. Within 6-8 months I started to see new hair growth. A little over a year passed and I had a fuller head of natural hair.

I am extremely satisfied with my decision to go with NHI for my hair transplant. Meeting with the patients and with the doctors (Dr. Rassman and Dr. Pak) I really got to know what to expect. I encourage anyone who is losing their hair to attend an NHI open house and let the results speak.

Since 2003 I have had 7 surgeries with Dr. Rassman and Dr. Pak. 6 of those procedures have been Follicular Unit Transplants (FUT) and 1 has been a Scalp MicroPigmentation (SMP). The purpose of the SMP was to fill in all the small areas where my scalp showed through the hair.

The following are the number of grafts transplanted during each procedure:
1871 (July 2003)
1859 (July 2005)
2270 (May 2006)
1390 (November 2007)
1243 (June 2010)
1176 (May 2012)
SMP (August & September 2014)
