I decided to remove my implants after injuring my shoulder. The 25 year old implants were heavy and saggy. Before the injury, I had never considered that removing them, and not replacing them was an option. It's been a month since the removal, which was surprisingly no big deal. I went in and was released from the hospital 4 hours later. I had removal plus en bloc, in which the capsule (that was leaking silicone) was completely removed. The worst part was having the drains for a week. But they came out (10 seconds of pain) and the healing has begun! I am SO happy they are no longer part of me. It's hard to describe how much better I feel, physically and emotionally. If I had known what I know now, I would have removed them years ago.

Thanks so much. All around the best decision I've made in a long time. Looking back, I can't believe I waited 25 years to remove them. As soon as I had them put in, I experienced terrifying and debilitating anxiety/panic attacks. It was the scariest time of my life. At that time no one considered the implants- though I thought of the possibility because it was the only thing that had changed in my life in 5 years, but no one believed it. To this day, I am sure that all of the hell I went through was caused by the implants and I should have had them out immediately. But all I can do is go from today, and be grateful they are out now.

Good for you. You look so much lighter. I removed 700 ccs that I had that long as well. Only I had nothing but skin left after so I needed a bit of extra work. Best choice I've ever made. I hope you continue to feel better and better as I did. I kept noticing one week out to weeks out for weeks out that I was no longer tired and that my eyes were brighter and nine months later I don't think I've been sick. When I had implants I was always coming down with something, and I had multiple sinus infections a year. My joints would swell , and my brain was so foggy. I chalked it up to old age, but that wasn't the case at all. It was those darn implants.

I experienced the same health issues, exhausted all the time, brain fog, achy joints. I couldn't put my finger on why I felt this way. I went to the dr multiple times, had several physicals and nothing made sense because all my tests showed I was perfectly healthy. It was frustrating until the shoulder injury made it nearly impossible to wear a bra and the weight of my breasts with implants was too much to bear. I started to look into breast implant removal and became obsessed with all information regarding breast implant illness. For the first time, it finally all started to make sense. I wanted them out asap, but I'll admit, I was terrified. Some of the pictures I've seen had me scared to death and I didn't have money for multiple surgeries afterwards to make them look better. I was up all night sometimes reading and researching about all the different doctors who were able to do the surgery. There were all kinds of different obstacles, some took insurance, some didn't, some said I'd regret not having a lift with the explant, some said not to take out the capsule. After all my research, I went with the doctor who took my insurance, did the en bloc and advised no life for a year to see how they would look. I am so happy I was able to let go of my fears about the surgery, and am SO happy with the doctor I chose. At this point, I am not even considering a lift at all. I feel 100% better and I know that with each passing day I will feel better.
Good luck to everyone who has gone through, or is considering going through this procedure.

I'm so liberated reading all your experiences ! I had my implants 25 yrs ago. Not long after I began suffering from migraines becoming worse as the years passed ( never entered my head it could have been the implants !!) then I bagan having thyroid problems which with my thyroid glands be removed and more recent 2yrsago I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia. I was research auto immune disorders as the above come under that umbrella and was shocked to read about breast implant disease. To cut a long story I had my implants removed plus an uplift on 14 August I am hoping that health improves but just getting the explant makes me feel very optimistic.

Still
Super happy the heavy implants are gone. I could have a lift, but all the scarring seems daunting. I don’t need a lift- boobs are boobs and mine don’t look terrible- but..., I keep thinking about the cute styles of clothes that would be easier to wear without an old lady “support” bra lol. I’m still thinking about it, but my boobs look natural and nice as they are.

I'm 10 months out from my lift. Scars are faint and silver. If you treat them they do away - fade to thin white lines. Surgical technique, diet and applying scar gels are the trick. You look great either way. I didn't like having the extra skin and for me it was a great choice. Don't be afraid of the scars. I was and for no reason. Hugs!

How was the recovery

Not too bad. The drains get a bit painful and itchy and to be honest I felt like they were making me a little crazy at the end, but luckily they came out the next day. Overall, absolute relief. I had to be patient with my flat saggy breasts until they "fluffed" back into shape, but I would recommend breast plant removal to everyone who is considering the surgery.

I have 16 year old implants. Sagging from weight gain/loss/gain lol. They even feel like they go under my arm pits. I want to remove and get small implants and probably lift and skin removal. Will you be getting any implants in the future? You are healing nicely:)
