One month post op
WORTH IT$6,800
Hi ladies! I'm now over one month post op and I feel so good! I can't believe it's been a month already! I still have some numbness underneath my nipples, but the hypersensitivity has decreased drastically! I've been sleeping so much more comfortably and do my best to sleep flat on my back, but I'll wake up in the middle of the night on my side. Oops. I still haven't started to use any scar creams (need to get on that), but my scars are healing very nicely on their own. My breasts are super soft and definitely dropping more. While I was in NY, I got sized for a bra at VS... Can you believe they sized me as a 32DDD?!? Lol! I don't really "care" necessarily about the size, but the bras really did fit well! I got two and they were only lined, no push up. I did try on a push up for fun and it was just too much for me. Because of the padding I felt like it made me stick out on the sides and it just didn't look as good. I guess when you get fake boobs you don't really need push ups anymore! I've been wearing the bras, but since we have had to wear a sports bras for so long now - to be honest the sports bras are still more comfortable to me.
I have to be honest, I haven't been massaging as much as I'm supposed to.. But I feel like they've dropped and are starting to fluff all on their own. The massages aren't as uncomfortable as they were initially, either. Hmm that's about it for me! How everyone else feeling??

Post Op Visit #2 & Progress Pics
Hello ladies! I had my 3 week post op visit today with my PS. Other than waiting 45 minutes in the office (grr) , the visit went really well. He's pleased with my progress and thinks I'm doing a great job! Yay! I asked him about my numbness and hypersensitivity and he explained that the numbness will turn into hypersensitivity (booooo) but hypersensitivity is good! He said that means the nerves are healing and making their connections again. He said to rub the area when I feel the zing and "pain" and even though it's uncomfortable it will make healing and the overall sensitivity go away quicker. So, we just gotta suck it up and rub our boobies haha! He also mentioned that any pain or sensitivity along the scar can also be lightly massaged and that will help with healing and keloid formation. I am instructed to keep massaging!
New instructions: next week (1mo post op) I can return to light cardio (walking/running, cycling). I kinndddaaa cheated and already starting doing that last week haha oops but just walking on the treadmill - no running! :)
At six weeks post op, I can start doing ab workouts, legs, and light arm excersises. Chest exercises are ok after 3mo post op. But let's be honest, are any of us doing bench presses? Probably not... Lol.
I still need to wear a sports bra - but not I can try out regular bras! He said it's best to wear the sports bras but if I'm going out, or wearing a too that looks funny with a sports bra it's ok to wear a regular one for a few hours. So yay!! Bra shopping! I wonder what size I am :) I'm also kind of hesitant to buy any, in case I still have some swelling .. What do you girls think??
Oh! Before I forget, I asked him about the "pain" and discomfort to my ribs and beneath my arm pit on my right side/breast. He explained that that's where a lot of nerves stem from.. And during the surgery, they kind of have to pull on that area to make the breast pocket. Because I am right handed, he said it tends to be more sore in that area on the side where you are dominant. It makes sense! I'm going to try to use my left hand and arm more and let my right side rest - but it's so hard because it's so automatic to use your regular side!
Anyways, he also wants me to begin to use a scar cream or gel to help my scars heal. The majority of scar healing/damage occurs in the first year. So we need to be extra careful in our first year of over exposing our scars to sunlihht. Obviously, we are not walking around naked all the time. BUT sunlihht does penetrate clothes and swim suits. He recommended a scar cream with silicone and sunscreen. Has anyone begun to use a scar cream or gel that you love?
Through his summer specials, he mentioned if I wrote a yelp review I could get a scar laser treatment done at his office for free. Any one done this either..? Or heard about it?
Phew, this was a long update. I hope some of this information is helpful to others! Please comment and let me know how your progress is going or if you have suggestions to any of my questions!
Off to NY tonight!!! So excited!! :))

You're looking great! My op is the Friday before Labor Day w dr David Kim. Super excited! Quick question, how long did it take for the bloating to go away? I'm so sad that post op makes you look bloated. I'm a workout freak and I hate seeing myself gain weight. I think that's gonna be the worst part for me!
I still feel bloated LOL but I think I don't have an excuse anymore.. Hmm probably the first week! :( it wasn't good and I wasn't expecting it bc I hadn't read about it before.. So it caught me off guard. Just give yoyrself a break! It will go away :) I drank a lot of water so I think it helped flush the excess fluid out.. I also only took norcos for about 2.5 days before switching to Tylenol so I didn't experience any constipation. Good luck w your surgery!! The anticipation is the worst part
yay! you look great and all good news!!! I have my 3 week visit this morning and am hoping to get the ok for light cardio... I bet it's not until next week though. I have been walking this week though.
Have a great time in NY !!! and have fun bra shopping!!! let us know how that goes :)

Thank you for this update!!!! So helpful :). Any luck finding a scar cream with spf? My doc recommended kelo-cote but I don't believe it has spf. I'll be on vacation and wondering if I should just put sunscreen right on my scars just in case..
Yes! Do it! It won't hurt and it's well known that sunlight darkens scars.. Especially if you aren't fair skinned. I'll let you know! I just got to NY so I need to research in my downtime :) I know Mederma is well known to lighten and heal scars but I don't know if it has SPF in it either.
Haha ok! I'll just use sunscreen. I really didn't know if it was okay to put it on the scars :s
They look great! Your scars are quite small too.Are they starting to feel softer yet?
They are much softer but still a little tender during massages. I've noticed the hypersensitivity is higher at night (prob from all day of rubbing on my clothes) but it's not *as bad... Slowly but surely! My PS said it can take up to 3 mo and sometimes longer for your nipples to feel "normal" again.
My doc suggested Biocorneum, which has SPF. It was $64 on Amazon - eeks - but he said the smallest tube will last me forever.
Yes, I've heard of that as well! Hmm I still need to do some research :) might take up my PS on that free laser treatment offer. My scars look really good tho for just a little over 3 weeks! Well, I think so.. Haha

Hypersensitivity??
Hi ladies! So now I'm 2+ weeks post op and I feel like I'm more uncomfortable than I was in the first week post op! My breasts almost feel like... When you get the chills and your breasts get tingly -- but ALL. THE. TIME. Girls I'm so uncomfortable!! My left side was initially more tender than the right, but now it's less sore and my right side/ribs are atill feeling like they are bruised under.. I started back to work this past week so when I'm working I can't massage.
Does anyone know if you're unable to massage - can it make your outcome worse? I have several friends who have had BA in the past who did have to massage.. Some that didn't.. I guess it's just the PS preference?? I'm not sure why some say to do it and others don't.. Same goes with pre and post op instructions! It seems like there is a wide range of orders.
My breasts are looking softer and dropping and rounding out. From the side I feel like they still sit fairly high, but from the front they look very good. I'm so pleased with how they look!
I guess I am experiencing both hypersensitivity and numbness at the same time LOL. I'm still pretty numb under my nipples and to make 1/2" around my nipples. Overall they're pretty sensitive and I'm constantly running around all day which is irritating to them. Poor girls haha.
My incisions look great. They're scaring, but the scabs are almost gone and it's nice and pink now. Still thick, but that's understandable. I need to schedule my next post op visit. I'm going to NYC this Tuesday for 10 days so it might not be until Labor Day before I see my PS. At this next visit, he said he would check out my breasts, see how healing is going, and give me further follow up instructions on scar care, massaging, ect.
I'm just worried I will develop CC even though I have no issues with scaring, low risks, ect. I'm just concerned bc I'm still sore and not healing as quickly now as I was in the beginning. I guess I've kind of plateued. I can't complain bc I had a great first week post op in comparison to other stories I've read.
I know I'm only 2.5 weeks post op, but anyone else with similar healing experiences? My massages are still really tender to do and I hate doing them haha. Sigh. Trying not to get discouraged.

Don't get discouraged! I am still very sore and my ribs feel bruised and painful at times . I understand because I feel like I'm healing slowly too and I can't be as active as I'm used to! Maybe to reassure yourself you could call the dr office and get some so that you aren't worried! I actually checked my ribs for new bruises lol
I don't have any physical indication I'm bruised but it just feels like it.. I just hope this doesn't last much longer - numbness I can work with but sensitivity .. Oh man. Over it. It's almost too sensitive to do the massages! :/
I get the cold chill feelings deep and zingers . I can feel my muscle spasms but I don't massage so I don't have to touch them while they are sore. good luck!!
Maybe I'm a slow healer too but I was def still in recovery mode at 2.5 weeks! I actually still have some minor numbness in the bottoms of my breasts and sometimes (on and off) my nips are really sensitive (I'm almost at 6 weeks)
As for massaging I think sometimes it depends on your progress. I know ladies who were told to massage and some who were told not to (I'm not massaging) and we all had the same PS.

That's so weird! I have another appt with my dr tomorrow so I'm gonna ask.. This hypersensitivity is so annoying! I am worried it might be CC - I don't know why bc my left breast was a larger implant and ya, it's sensitive but my right is sooooo much more tende and sensitivity and it doesn't seem to be improving? I dunno :(
Wow only 2.5 weeks and you are back at work as a nurse!! I'm impressed. I believe that a lot of the after care institutions have to do with the kind of implant it is. And of course individual dr training ;) try to find ways to get massages in whenever possible, like when you use the restroom or are alone in a supply closet (if there are no cameras of course;). Good luck ;)
