I underwent the Asian double eyelid surgery at Dr Kenneth Kim. I will not go into all the details about his pre consultation and the lack of communication. The complaints in other reviews about Dr Kim not going through the details of the eyelid shape design during pre-surgery meeting is all true. I had thought he would do a decent job based on his credentials and the before and after photos on his website but now I am not even sure if those photos are his patients or ones he got from Dream Medical Center in Korea which he is associated with.

To put it simply my eyes came out completely two different sizes with one side being an infold and the other side an out fold. Also the the bigger eyelid he created was not even a smooth arch but more of a rectangular shape above the eye. It took over 6 months for the eyes to look somewhat acceptable but every time I see a photo of myself with the weird eyelid I cringed.

He also tried to pull my lid up without consulting me and my eyes resulted in being slightly flipped. It got better after 6 months but still even with a lot of camouflaging with eyeliner you can see them.

Finally I decided to go through a revision surgery in Korea by one of the top eyelid revision surgeon. It look him about 4 hours of surgery (!!!) to correct the eyelid sizes to even them out and to correct the flipped eye.

Now at 10 days after the surgery I am so happy with the result. With the initial surgery with Dr Kenneth Kim I looked horrendous for over 2 months where I could not go out with a glasses to hide my eyes. With the revision surgery I am already out and about with a light make up on only 10 days after the surgery. So much difference!

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE AND DO YOUR DOUBLE EYELID SURGERY WITH DR KENNETH KIM!! FIND A DOCTOR WHO WILL LISTEN TO YOU AND CONSULT WITH YOU IN DESIGNING YOUR EYES. BE VOCAL ABOUT WHAT YOU NEED. AND IF YOU CAN GO TO KOREA THAT'S WHERE YOU SHOULD GET IT DONE IDEALLY AFTER SOME RESEARCH.

It was at DuHan Plastic Surgery in Gangnam, Seoul. Here is their webpage regarding eyelid resurgery. http://www.duhans.com/v2/htm/clinic_01_01.php I went with him based on his experience and his before and after photos which were abundant on the website and even more example photos at the clinic. It looks like the webpage is in Korean, so hope you can read Korean or have someone translate for you..

Someone above thought I was a broker for Duhan for posting this information. Please be advised that I only posted this because I was asked who I had my resurgery with. Please do your own due diligence when finding a doctor for your own surgery. I am only posting about my individual experience and am not promoting any doctor. My experience at Dr Kenneth Kim was really traumatic because my eyes looked so horrendous for over 3 months and the photo I posted is a 6 months post operation which still looked bad. I just wanted to make sure that I shared that information with everyone as a warning!

Congrats that you had a successful result at Duhan Plastic Surgery, but I should say that you were either very lucky or a "broker"(promoter/marketer hired by the hospital). Many people have been fooled by Duhan's brokers that Dr. Duhan Shin is a top eyelid revision surgeon and his plastic surgery hospital is popular in Korea. This is all FALSE. I've seen a lot of people who failed their double eyelid surgery at there. What I mean by "failed" is not just looking awkward, but looking horrible. I also heard Duhan Plastic Surgery refused to give refund to those patients even though the doctor made their eyes a mass. My friend's father is a surgeon (plastic surgery) and said he never heard of Dr. Duhan Shin's name. This means Dr. Duhan is not a renowned doctor in Korea. I hope people don't get fooled by such marketing activities.

Perhaps I was lucky! I had spoken with only a couple of doctors when I was in Korea and I went with Duhan because his portfolio was impressive and massive. I only posted his name here because someone had asked. This posting was to review Dr Kenneth Kim's surgery not Duhan. I am extremely happy with my result, and I haven't seen any complaints about Duhan on many of the discussion discussion forums out there that I have read. Would you be able to show me images of these failed surgeries done at Duhan and let me know where they are posted? If that's true, I will make sure to mention that if someone asks about my experience. THe purpose of these forums is to share information.

The more I think about it, the more upset I am about this comment above. Please have a close look at the photos of the eyes I posted. This post is about evaluating Dr Kenneth Kim. I am so horrified how horrible my eyes looked after the surgery at Dr Kenneth Kim. When I had to live with it, I tried make it OK, but now that I have fixed the problems, it's incredulous to look at these old photos where my eyes were completely different sizes with one outfold and one infold lines, over-corrected ptosis make my eyelids flipped up which I had disguise by putting eyeliner underneath the upper eyelid, and just overall ignore the condition as much as I can because otherwise it was too upsetting. People, be warned!!

I have hundreds of more horrendous pictures since I was documenting my eyes obsessively after the surgery at Dr Kenneth Kim. I took multiple photos everyday from all different angles at different times of the day because I think I was hoping that it looked better than it actually did. These photos I posted are not so horrendous as the others. I tried to use as neutral a photo as possible, but I hope these two photos can serve as a fair warning to everyone.

I never said you are a "broker" advertising Duhan. I said you were either very lucky or a broker. I can't give you the photos of the people who suffered from the badly done plastic surgeries from Duhan. I can't give you the website address as well. You know why? Because Duhan asks those websites to delete all the negative comments about them. That includes any comments, photos.. anything that is against them. When a post or comment is deleted, it does not just disappear. There is a sign that says "this post/comment is deleted due to violating (the hospital's) rights." This sign indicates that the hospital asked the website to delete the negative post/comment. When you search posts regarding Duhan, you can see a lot of posts/comments that have signs like that. This explains how Duhan has many good reviews but very rare bad reviews. Plus, I am glad that your revision surgery went well and thank you for giving us a warning about the other doctor, Dr. Kenneth. But so far, many people who posted their revision surgery experiences at Duhan turned out to be "brokers" who work for the hospital. Usually, people who had successful surgeries don't post their experiences online. Most of the time, only those who failed do. The reason why I post these comments are NOT to say you are their broker, but to correct the wrong info. in your post (that Duhan is a renowned surgeon in Korea) and to warn people that there are numerous sufferers who had unpleasant experiences with this hospital.

THank you for that clarification. I believe I never said "renowned" in my post if you read it carefully below. I just said they were located in Gangnam. I think people should do their due diligence for their surgeries and re surgeries. I was careless first time around and I was lucky/ did some amount of due diligence the second time around.

The reason why said "renowned" is because in your post you said you went to "one of the top eyelid revision surgeon," which is Duhan. Renowned or top. I read that as the same thing. I agree with you that people should do their due diligence. We should search as much info. as we should before going through a plastic surgery.

I would agree with you that there way too many plastic surgeons out there who don't take responsibility for their work and not qualified. Dr Duhan Shin spent a lot of time with me before the surgery answering all my questions and gave me realistic warnings about pros and cons and what to expect, not necessarily all rosy pictures. He spent 3.5 hours doing the revision surgery to balance the eyes out. He even had to take a break in the middle since it was such an intense and long surgery. Given all the things that had to be fixed, I am extremely happy I went with Duhan clinic. My personal experience. I will create another review under Duhan Clinic when I have chance and post photos. Workday today, so gotta get back to work..
