My name is rita and i had a rhinoplasty/septoplasty/inferior turbinate repair with Dr. Vladimir Grigoryants.
Why I wanted to have this surgery in the first place was due to my nose having been gone through so much bumping into and running into things, it resulted in me having trouble sleeping soundly through the night. I had a feeling it was fractured. I began rigorously researching a number of rhinoplasty surgeons because i just couldnt get any shut eye and needed to do something about it and fast. I chose Grigoryants. I had two free consultations with him three months apart, my heart was set on him. He was blunt and pointed out some things about my nose that I had never noticed before, like it being crooked as he held a pen upright to my face to show how it was truly diagonal. He would also fix my fracture and change some features about my nose that I've always disliked about it - reduce the hump, narrow the bridge, reduce the size of my septum. He was nothing but kind to me and most importantly realistic and honest. He told me what he could do for me which is pretty much fix every nasal deformity I had, but he also told me what he could not which was to straighten my nose so it would not be diagonal anymore. It could not be done and many other individuals have this same problem but there's nothing any surgeon can fix. The way my face and my nose is aligned is just not a straight one. Anyway, I was really happy with what he could potentially achieve for me. He also offered me financial advice, he was not pushy at all even though he is a very busy man, he was patient and treated me like a person and not a "case", he told me all the not so great facts about the recovery process and that the experience varies from patient to patient, all what to expect and what to do and not do. I had a tiny notebook with me jotting down all I needed to know while discussing rhinoplasty matters with him. There was really no need to look any further. I booked a surgery date with mr. Grigoryants which so happened to be yesterday September 30 at 6am. Best decision I have ever made :)
Thank you doctor, truly.

day 2

So I didnt want to jump the gun yesterday and say I felt no pain, but as of this morning, day number 2, I still feel minimal discomfort and no pain. I'm very happy about that. Ive been taking my medication relatively on the regular and it's probably the pain killers at work here but to be honest even when I feel the meds wearing off and a couple hours after im due for another pill, discomfort remains at a 1 or 2 on a scale of twenty. This is also probably because im such a healthy person, but recovery for me from all kindsa things have been a breeze for me.
Well, as for eating, ive been eating some cambells soup, tortellinis, yogurt and drinking pineapple juice and ready made smoothies from bolthouse. I eat as I normally do, on time and such, even if ive had no appetite whatsoever, maybe due to the meds ive been prescribed. Also, I might add, that I only purchased the pain killer and infection medication but not for nausea. I remember the price being too steep. But lucky I didnt have to because I never became nauseous though it was expected of me apparently. I never even threw up the blood that I was suppose to during surgery, which im pretty sure is a bad thing. But oh well, I feel divine and have been spitting up traces of blood from my throat deriving from my nasal area. So far my nose looks even, my swelling is pretty awful, and ive been catching up with homework and resting with my head elevated with some ice packs on hand. Ive been cleaning constantly around my nose but also not trying to touch my nose. As for the drippage, ive been cleaning that up with antibacterial dial soap and washing my face as much as I can without getting my nose wet like at all. My eyes are puffy and if ive any concerns at all, that would be my only one. Im not worried at all about the results because I can tell already my nose has improved significantly as far as sinuses and broken noses go. Oh and of course the shape of my nose ;)

I guess your wish came true...I feel the recovery process is going by too fast. Odd to say, but I thought it was going to be longer and a more difficult experience for me...but no :) dead wrong.

4 days post op cast is off :)

So the past few days were really tough because I was feeling restless. I blame it on the pain meds. And this morning, before I was scheduled to remove the cast, I actually took it off myself because it was loose already and I kept messing with the thing and have been cleaning my nose like I had ocd. It came off easily and saw my face and was kind of turned off. I was not at all worried though. My eyes were far apart and my cheeks were huge and just the bridge of my nose look like a blimp. But I put the cast back on because I didnt want my mom to see it, or anyone else. I wanted it to look a little better before people started to see my face. I went to doctor grigoryants office today at 1pm to cut some of the clear stitchings and pull out the fat black thing that looped around my septum. This kind of stung but hardly. After he taped up my nose and had me hold up a mirror to see the reflection on the mirror aid my nose healed really well and that ive at hung on the wall, i was suprised. The swelling had gone done a little more since ive seen it earlier this morning and i was even more suprised to see that my mom was pleased with the results. She was never on board with this surgery thing so i was very happy about that as well. The doctor told me that i had cleaned my nose up proper, that was why there were hardly any dry blood that would have made the stitchings harder and ten times painful to come out. He also said that I should tape up my nose (with some tape that he gave me) before I went to bed and to take it off in the morning for the next few days to keep the swelling down. I cant blow my nose not for another week which kind of made me feel guilty because I had been blowing my nose rather gently ever since I got the surgery. I am able to smell and taste things now. And im not sure why, but I have always been able to smile and move my upper lip just fine. It never went numb like it was suppose to due to severed nerves, and I never threw up any blood as I was suppose to. My bruising is starting to go away and the puffy cheeks too.
