I am beyond excited and nervous at the same time....

I am beyond excited and nervous at the same time. I have dealt with a bulging belly for way too long. I don't expect to be a size 2 after this (far from it) but I do want a flatter stomach that will allow me to feel comfortable in a bathing suit, dress, even a jumper. I am starting a bucket list at 33 because I realize you shouldn't wait until you are retired. Tomorrow is never guaranteed so why wait for a future that might not happen. I am 225 lbs and 5'8. I don't mind a thick body. Just don't want my buldges dictating how loose my clothes need to be. Looking forward to getting the extra weight off my midsection as well because it will probably make a difference on my back pain. Fingers crossed. Only one week away!

Are you getting muscle repair? I had lower back issues and the MR has pretty much made those go away. Bonus!!! I was so afraid reading so many ladies with back pain from not being able to stand straight. But I was upright the first day- was told was ok if it didn't hurt so I stayed walking straight. I also slept in the bed with lots of pillows. The recliner was killing my back after 2 hours. Good luck on the 8th!

Hi! Yes I am getting muscle repair done as well. I had back surgery 2 years ago for a hernitated and ruptured disc (L5 and S1), so i am definitely worried about the back pain. I ordered a medical pillow so my body would be in the correct required position while I lay down in bed. I am extremely nervous and excited. Thank you for your comment! I knew the extra weight in my midsection was adding to the pain especially when I bent over so it adds to the excitement of things changing for the better!

I have herniated disk at l4/l5 no surgery there but 3 level fusion in my neck. Both have been fine but MR helped my lower a lot. Good Luck!! Sending Positive healing vibes your way!

How exciting! I am scheduled for July and like you, I don't care if I am thick and curvy I just want to feel good about my shape and be comfortable in my cloths! I hate having to buy shirts that are long enough to cover my lower belly. Not to mention the chore of funding pants that fit nicely with out muffin topping...so ready for a change!

I completely agree. I hate when i find a dress I like but don't buy because I have bulges sticking out. Best of luck on your journey! I am only 3 days away now. Time to really buckle down and get ready for the big day!

You look amazing. I thinking about getting surgery. Just trying to find the right doctor. Did you have insurance?
April 14, 2016
No insurance. This is considered cosmetic so insurance doesn't kick on unless there is a medical need for it. When you find a doctor that you really trust, I would ask them because I am sure every situation is different. I did apply for care credit though so I could finance this. There was no way I was going to be able to hand over that kind of money from my pocket. Lol
By the way... Check out as many doctors as you need to until you feel comfortable with your choice. Never settle for the first one or the one with the best coupon. I found my doctor using this site so keep checking our reviews and posts about the doctors you are considering. Real life reviews are the best.

The first two days I spent most of my time in bed sleeping abd regaining my energy. Thankfully I purchased a contour pillow that helped me stay in the correct position all day/night. I have been able to go to the bathroom on my own and get in and out of bed. Guess all of the previous surgeries paid off.
Fast forward to today. I had my post op appointment. By my request, my doctor took pics of what was actually removed from my body. Amazing stuff! 6 pounds of fat and skin. It was crazy! Plus I had severe muscle separation and a hernia under my belly button that I didn't even know existed! This surgery ended up being more beneficial than just looking better. I am so grateful for Dr. Esmailian. He and his wife Sam are such sweethearts and truly care for their patients.

Awesome to hear that you are healing well!!

Yes I went home the same day. Thank you for your comment. I think this is going to be my last surgery but I am glad this one is giving me a lot more benefits.

Last question and I'll let you rest :-) what type of pillow did you get, and are you sitting up in bed or laying down?
April 12, 2016
I ordered a memory foam contour backmax from Bed Bath and Beyond. I love it. Super comfortable and helped me tremendously. I tried at one point to use just regualr pillows and blanket to hold me feet up but I immediately got back up and had my daughter help me put the backmax up again.

And no worries. If you have any questions, I have no problem answering to the best of my ability. :-)

Welcome to the flat side :)! Happy Healing!

Hi. I had an extended TT on 3/28/16 so this is day 16 for me. It's nice to see someone else's story on here for extended...I haven't seen many. Just wanted to say it sounds like you are doing great and wanted to wish you a healthy recovery!! I was in your place just a short time ago and it was not as bad as I thought it would be. Now I am up and around and taking It easy but doing some light "things"...driving, cooking, store, etc. My last of 3 drains came out today. Happy healing!! <3

Glad everything is going well for you. When did you start driving? I know I was supposed to avoid stairs but living on a 3rd floor apartment left me no choice on day one. I have been up and down yesterday for my post op appointment and then again today to move my car so my daughter could get her bike for school. I am winded by the time I get back up. But i felt ok in the car. I just know I should stay away from going anywhere too far being that my reflexes may not be as quick as I need. Thank you for the words of encouragement. I start working from home tomorrow. I need to figure out what the best option is for me. Sitting in the chair or laying in bed and bringing my laptop to me. I may take turns. Have to figure it out.
April 13, 2016
Hi! Hope working from home today goes well for you. You will figure out the chair/bed thing for work via trial and error. I found that I was comfy in a chair but everyone is different. As far as driving, I was allowed to drive by day 5 but I didn't.....I waited until day 14. Not for any real reason....I felt that I could drive, but I just didn't. I was getting a ride to the dr and wherever else I had to go. Have a good day and let us know how working goes today.

Wow... What a challage and a struggle. It was the first time I needed to take off my girdle and put it back on. Finally got to see what happened under my bandages. I am extremely impressed and can't believe it is me! No more lumps that will hold me back from wearing a dress! ???? Here are some pics!
We will be thinking about you this week and sending good vibes and happy thoughts your way. Please check back in quickly and let us know how everything goes.
