Long term effects of Accutane

Long Term Effects of Accutane

I tried everything for my acne, when I was a teenager. But in my mid twenties,I took Accutane.Huge mistake!Sure it succeeded in clearing my skin up but it also caused my eyes to be dry.Which they still are today-I am 57.Accutane permantely shrinks your oil glands .I also have gotten wrinkles prematurely(started in my 40's)and my skin is dry! There are oil glands in your eyelids. That's why they can get dry. And,yes, the effects of this drug can stay with you.I wish I never took it.

Interesting reading this. Hmmm, so dry eye is a long term effect after Acutane! I’m suffering from dry eye profusely now after my upper bleph. We can commiserate on our problem
Yep,and this was in the mid '80's and none of my doctors said it was dry eye so I didn't get treated until long after I was finished Accutane.Maybe if I was treated earlier, while I was on it,it wouldn't have become so chronic.I don't know if you'll still have it after or if your eyes will get back to normal.Hopefully, you'll be one of the lucky ones and have them get back to normal!Good luck!
I’m hoping to be rid of this problem soon. From what I’ve read it’s a common occurrence. I just can’t see too well now. Hmmm, it’s just blurry I am not wearing contacts now, obviously! I am keeping positive.
Do you use drops?
Yes. Just started a second brand. I hope one of these will do the trick. It just feels like there’s something in my eye! Then that feeling goes into a burning feeling. Ughhhhh
Yep,that is dry eye.And I squinted so much(because I could actually feel air hitting my eyes)now I have horrible wrinkles between my eyes.Do you use night ointment?
Yes I use BioRiche. Got it from my ps. I’m not squinting I just feel pain
Feeling like you have sand in your eyes all the time and burning is not fun.I get a lot of mine as samples from my optometrist. So they all pretty much are the same ,for me.
That exactly sums it up. Gravel in your eye, not sand! Sand is putting it mildly. My the evening...I’m soooo ready to go to sleep early, just so I can close my eyes and not feel the gravel anymore.
Exactly!
