Plastic surgery is something I never thought I'd...

WORTH IT
Plastic surgery is something I never thought I'd consider. However, after my youngest of 3 turned 4 years old, and I was 2 years removed from nursing, that changed. My breasts became completely deflated to the point that I felt deformed. I'm fit and active and take pride in my appearance. I also consider myself a feminist and wanted so much to not only accept, but embrace, my post-baby body, but it truly began to affect my life negatively. I began having to think about the clothes I could wear, looking for items that could camouflage my chest. I never wanted anyone, even my husband, to see my naked; I didn't even like to look at myself. I decided to go to some consultations and, suddenly the concept of having surgery became real. I consulted with 4 doctors, all different price ranges and practices. I narrowed it down to the two who made me feel most comfortable, who were easiest to talk to, and whose recommendations made the most sense according to my research and the other doctors I spoke with. From there I chose Dr. Desai with Doctors Plastic Surgery in Long Island City, NYC. After consult and research, I went with 400cc Mentor Memory Gel on both sides. My surgery went well and the entire team was professional and skilled. Although, frightened, I felt secure and safe. Breast surgery is no joke, and recovery was not easy, particularly the first few days, but from my research (and I did a lot), I would say my recovery went smoothly and rather quickly, as compared to some others. My breasts looked pretty good right from the beginning and there were no complications. As each week passed, they looked better and better, and my mobility slowly returned. Sometimes it felt as though it would never happen, but here I am, just past my 5 month mark, and I'm back to running and yoga (with a few modifications), and my breasts look great! The scars are still visible, but getting better, and I still have some numbness, but those things feel minor. I feel so good getting dressed and wearing bathing suits again. The size is perfect and they truly feel like they are a part of me. I actually rarely even think of them anymore. It was a difficult decision and the process was long and hard at times, but I can truly say I'm happy I did it and would do it again.

I'm considering Dr. Desai:
How is your scare?
What was the down time?

Hi. My surgery was almost 7 months ago and my scars are improving every day. They're located in the crease so I don't see them unless I look for them. They're flat now and fading in color. My down time after surgery seemed about average, from my research. The first 3 days were the worst. After that, I was moving around and engaging in my normal activities, although, very tired and at times in pain. I made sure to walk daily as soon as I could, and move around as much as I could. Sleeping upright was one of the most difficult things. I'm now sleeping on my side and stomach (with pillow support), jogging, and doing yoga. I don't think of my boobs on a daily basis anymore. I'm very happy with my decision. GL!!
