Hi All, Looking at Rhino Consultations...

Hi All,

Looking at Rhino Consultations presently to find the right surgeon and was recommended Lucian Ion.

Can someone help, I'm reading a lot of reviews about people having to inject themselves after surgery to do with blood clotting - is this true and do all patients have to do this uinder Lucian, as I don't see comments with other patients not with Lucian - can this process be avoided as I can't physically deal with injections and certainly can't do this daily myself - I almost have a fear of needles and get hot and stressed at the sight of them (I know i'll need to have one with I'm knocked out! though which i'll just have to deal with)

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by injections by yourself? I had a rhinoplasty and didn't have any injections done after the procedure :)

Thank god for that ! I've read one persons review that they did - will search for that one again

I do know that if there is prolonged swelling in the tip, the doctor may inject a steroid or something into the nose, I never had this though, normally swelling goes away itself :)

It was this link I read about syringes :((((

Yeah so that's just if you have loads of swelling, its not a normal thing. in all honesty, the first week/2 is swollen and bruised then youre on the road to recovery, its worth it if you really don't like your nose :)

Phew ! I've been stressing out...can't get to make an appointment with him until after the 28th April he's that fully booked up, there are a couple others I want to see also. Julian De Silva & Rajan Uppal, have an appointment with Allen Rezai & William Townley too. Thanks for posting, feel a little relaxed

I'm looking at having a revision, definitely advice you to research you surgeons, before/after photos, reviews, do you like how other patients noses turned out? every surgeon will have their own technique and method so don't be alarmed if they say different things, the way I think about it, 5 builders would all build a wall differently but still do a good job! :)

Rajan Upple is defintley a good one from what I've read, I'm going to see Dr Tahery in Manchester for a second consultation, he has excellent reviews.
February 26, 2016
I read good stuff about Dr Tahery - but I'm in Kensington so London is better for me. I would say there are about 5/6 top surgeons to choose from and then to start narrowing them down - did not like Dr Frati @ Mya, unprofessional team for starters and waited over 4 hours to be seen for my consultation because there were problems with a surgery that was carried out earlier in the day, so I only got seen at 10.10pm and for 10min only to be rushed and not given the chance to ask questions, maybe because he knows the consultation is free, and he had another 10-15 people still to see - no patient co-ordinator called to advise of delays and yet I'm still waiting for my patient co-ordinator to call me with a revised quote :(
February 26, 2016
Wow, that's really poor, I'm pretty sure it was Mya who told me they don't even do revision consultations.

I'm in Chelmsford so they are all a bit of travelling, except for my actual surgery which was done locally.

Best of luck finding the surgeon you love. if you have any question just ask :)

Thank you - you have been really helpful !

i had a consultation with ion last week and he did mention he gets some of his patients to self inject to reduce blood clotting, so this is true.
February 28, 2016
I wonder if you can object ? I wouldn't be able to do it at all.
February 28, 2016
Mr Ion gave me 7 injectable syringes (1 a day) to take home after my revision rhinoplasty and said they were to prevent blood clotting. I hated them and had to get my husband to do them while I shut my eyes! I'm fairly sure you could refuse them though as I've never known any other surgeon/hospital give them to take home.

I went home from surgery with ion with 7 injectable seringes. I also do not like needles but you have to weigh up the fact that you don't like needles with doing this procedure as safely as possible. Also you can get other people to do it for you and it really doesn't last that long. For the safest results, it's definitely worth it x

Dear lord - now really confused, I truly can't deal with it, and I don't think anyone I know can do it for me either - i'll try an get a consultation with him anyway to have a chat, but this almost narrows down who I would use now.

Booked my opp for the 4th November!

delight24
I've gone and done it, booked my opp for the 4th Nov. Reading a number of reviews September is the earliest, I've decided to go for Nov as it will be colder/darker and avoid the hot days. Will post my updates nearer the time - but within the next month or so I'll start looking at buying my bits and bobs from the list they provide. £500 deposit to secure the date but you get this back. 2nd consultation booked in September.
