Tummy Tuck with Umbilical Translocation to Remove Appearance of Being Pregnant
Having always been super slim, I still looked very pregnant long after 2 babies, despite getting all the weight off. I researched widely to identify my problem (i.e separated stomach muscles/diastasis recti) and to fix it. First I tried a women's physio who managed to get me to train my obliques to oblivion, not realising the culprit, my transverse abdominal muscles (TVAs) weren't engaging at all. Realising something was up I begged a lovely osteopath to ultrasound me to confirm my suspicions. I then tried the Tupler Technique followed by Mutu. I tried endless TVA repair exercises on Youtube and researched the condition widely. By now I felt convinced my TVAs were fully working, but in utter despair I still looked pregnant unless I engaged my muscles, hard, all the time. I drew the courage to contact and seek advice from world expert Diane Lee on this matter (a leading physio in Canada). I had retrained my muscles completely and had a high functioning separation, but it seemed my fascia had been overly extended during pregnancy and was never going to shrink back so my only solution was to have it stitched. I used the internet, recommendations and the Tatler Guide to identify a good surgeon. I consulted two. Titus was amazing. He appreciated all the work I had already done to try and fix my muscles. He listened completely to what I had to say and helped fill in the gaps of my (by now) pretty extensive knowledge. He came across as being a supremely skilled surgeon and drew sketches to help me understand everything. He showed me pictures of his work. After examining me he said I'd be a good candidate for tummy tuck with the belly button moved slightly down with minimal skin removal as it was in good condition. By comparison, the second surgeon spent almost my whole consultation going over my mental health and minimal time discussing my problem. When she eventually realised I could contract my stomach muscles perfectly she was amazed. I went ahead with surgery with Titus and it was amazing. Next to no problems/complications. A perfect, flat low scar, an unblemished tummy button which you would never tell had been lowered. For the first 3 months after, I had a 25 inch waist again, although it has given out a bit since (despite no extra weight gain) but I no longer look pregnant, at all, and can wear normal clothes again. For me, the tummy tuck was way more painful, for far longer than 2 c-sections, but totally worth it. 6 months post surgery I still have some numbness across my tummy but it is coming back all the time. I highly recommend Titus (and his team) and also just biting the bullet and getting on with your surgery if your problem is causing you misery. But I also recommend doing your prep - get your weight down and your muscles working; it will help you in the long run. Good luck!
