After my rhinoplasty journey I have finally...

After my rhinoplasty journey I have finally decided to write a review for anyone who is considering having this procedure done. Ever since I was very young I had always wanted my nose changing, the Italian in my family had given me a large nose, to which I disliked, and felt that it didn't suit my small frame. Once I had the funds to get the procedure done I started to research many surgeons. After going for a couple of consultations with MYA Cosmetic surgery and Tim Woolford, I realised I wanted something MUCH better. Tim Woolford didn't seem very professional and my consultation was extremely rushed, he drew a picture of what my "new" nose would look like, which I was less than impressed with. Similarly, MYA were only bothered about the money and persisted in contacting me to book surgery, even though I had no intentions at this early stage. So I disregarded both of them completely. I then did more research and thought about going to London ( I am from Manchester). I looked at Harley st surgeons as I know this is the best place for cosmetic surgery. I came across Lucian ion and booked a consultation after looking on his website and finding out a bit more about what he does. The consultation was amazing. He was so lovely in every way and made me feel very calm, as I was rather nervous. He listened to me tentatively and understood my concerns. As I was 20 at this stage, he even mentioned speaking to a psychologist before considering surgery. For that I was extremely humbled by, as instantly I knew he wanted to do the surgery for the right reasons. However, I did know that surgery was for me, this was a self conscious issue that needing changing for my own happiness. During the initial consultation we discussed the changes that I would like and he made 2D/3D morphs of my 'new' nose. I was impressed with the changes made. I then had a further two more consultations and then booked the surgery for June 2014. Everyone who reads these reviews knows the ins and outs of the recovery so I won't bore you with the details! However, it was painful, there was discomfort and I did experience nausea, however, it is pretty much expected after having your nose broken! It really isn't that bad! And I am not great with pain. I didn't have black eyes, they were just a little yellow and blue mostly. The swelling was quite bad and my left cheek swelled a lot, making my face very numb. This wasn't an issue as I didn't leave the house. I had the procedure done over the summer holidays (I am a student) so had plenty of time to relax and recover. When I had the cast taken off I was speechless. I could not believe the nose that I could see in the mirror! It didn't even look like me!!! I loved it. A smooth cute slope, it surpassed my expectations, and I had very high ones!!! Things went well for a few weeks, swelling was reducing nicely and I was loving my new profile. I went back to see Ion after 6 weeks for a check up and some steroid shots for the swelling. About 4 days after the shot I noticed a dip in my nose, I was horrified as I didn't know what this was. Went back to see ion and he assured me it was just from the steroid shot and my skin must be quite sensitive to it. Ion used some temporary filler to fill the dip out to stop me worrying and the dip never returned, even when the filler had been absorbed into my skin (6 months later). However, during this time I could feel a little lump on my bridge, where the previous big bump was. Now, I am a perfectionist and to anyone else this little lump probably wouldn't have been an issue, you could barely see it, I could just feel it and I didn't like it. My family said I was moaning over nothing. And to be fair I was, however i had paid a lot of money and wanted to be happy with my nose. I told Ion about this and again he said it is very slight, but understood me. He did laugh, I did too, but he knew I wanted it sorting. So last year in July 2015 I had a minor procedure under sedation where he gently filed down the little lump on the bridge. This took less than half an hour and I had a tiny little plaster across my bridge. This was done at his medical offices and I returned home a couple of hours later. Now it is June 2016 and I am so happy with my nose! I love it so much and feel it suits me perfectly. I have so much more confidence and truly believe Ion is an artist when it comes to facial aesthetics. Throughout everything he was supportive and even called me back when I was worrying (usually over nothing). His aftercare was brilliant and I am so glad that I plucked up the courage to go to London to see him in the first place. Research is key!!! If you want my advice, go and see him. Yeah the journey may not be plain sailing, however I believe I had it pretty easy considering the major change I had done. I only had the second procedure because I was being fussy, many other people probably wouldn't have been phased by it.
