Having had so much help and advice from Realself I thought I ought to write about my experience.
I first had a rhinoplasty at 16. It was ok and I lived with it for 26 years but my nose was still asymmetrical and still a slight bump on my bridge.
I foolishly had a second rhinoplasty last year by a local surgeon I knew little about. He was a qualified ENT surgeon who supposedly specialised in rhinoplasties. I didn't think to ask about surgery he'd done or ask for photos and feel really stupid now for not doing so. I didn't know about Realself then either so went blindly into surgery. The result was an even more asymmetrical nose, over resected bridge (with ski slope look) and inability to breathe properly through 1 nostril. So this year has been awful as I've avoided going out and become very depressed about my nose.
I started planning revision surgery almost immediately yet the year ahead before I could have more surgery seemed so long. I poured over Realself to find a surgeon to fix the mess and only one name came up again and again with great results -Lucian Ion. I've also found being able to chat with others on this site for advice brilliant too.
I'm 12 days post op and although swollen I can see how good my nose now looks. I had rib cartilage inserted so the profile is wonderful. I can breathe really well and it's finally symmetrical!
It's still early days and am still a bit sore and numb but I feel I am now feeling much better and more confident than I have in a long time so thank you Mr Ion and Realself!

Still swollen but healing very well and I'm also feeling less numb around the tip. Pain where rib graft taken is completely gone

Nose looks fab!! Did he say what grafts he used? Did you need a radix graft? Glad to hear that you're healing well!! :-)

He used some of my rib for the central part of the bridge and pared down the radix slightly so that it was more in proportion

Hi there, I was wondering how you are getting on? Mainly with having rib graft- how it feels and if you'd advise this type of graft? I am booked in with ions and may need to use rib graft if not enough septum left. My main worry is that it will feel weird or show through skin as have fairly thin skin. Would love some insight from your experience if you dont mind x

I am now almost 4 months post op and my nose still feels quite stiff on the tip as Mr Ion reduced it quite a bit although it becomes less so week by week. The rib feels absolutely fine and little different to how my nose was before. I can't feel it or see it either, it's all very smooth and part of my nose rather than an odd but added on! Seeing Mr Ion for a follow up next week. Good luck x

Thank you so much for your feedback. Really reassuring and I'm so glad for your outcome. I bet it feels amazing to be on the other side of your revision rhinoplasty experience. I can't wait!/all the best

It always amazes me how many changes the nose goes through, days and weeks after rhinoplasty. I can see more definition of the tip between your 11 and 18 day photos. It is such a wonderful improvement and already looks amazing!

I saw Mr Ion again last week and had another steroid injection to lesson the swelling on the left side. I'm really pleased at the difference from the bridge at the front. The vertical lines either side have gone and it looks a lot smoother. The tip still slightly numb but it's improving. Mr Ion told me he had put rib cartilage in the tip too which I never realised before!

Hi there! Are you still happy with your result from surgery? [RS bleep]

I have a consultation with Lucian Ion in March of 2016.
I've had two rhinoplasties (primary and revision) over the course of a year.
Biggest mistakes I have ever made. Hopefully Lucian Ion will be able to make
it look normal again.
My nose used to have a ski slope-like look. Now it looks very unnatural, crooked and the shape of the bridge is sorta like a parrots beak. Unbearable...
I also have slight problems with my breathing and my sense of smell has diminished.
I will be needing a rib cartilage too. Do you have any where the rib-graft was taken from?
Did you have to have your bloodwork done or any other tests before surgery?
Thank you very much!
Feeling a lot better now I'm just over 2 weeks post op and my rib pain has virtually gone. Still some swelling especially when I wake up but it's settling down and improving each day
