London Lip Lift scar revision Excellence
London Lip Lift Excellence
Three years ago, having noticed that my naturally long philtrum was getting longer, I underwent a lip-lift from an expensive, 'top' Harley Street surgeon. I was shocked at how badly it turned out, the scar was too far beneath my nose, every stitch mark showed and he had 'ruched' my skin, leaving the scar looking 'ribbed' (hopefully the first photo shows this, apologies for the quality, I’ll try to add more photos) . He also pulled out my nostril lining into the scar, making my nostrils look like narrow slits and clearly operated on. He was indifferent to my concerns and persuaded me to spend a great deal more money having pixel laser treatment to improve the scar, which had no effect, and I lived with this for three years, hoping the scar would improve, which it didn't. Make-up didn't conceal the texture of the scar and I became very self-conscious about facing people, eventually realising that I needed a scar revision, not to mention that I needed my nostril lining pulled back into my nostrils.
To cut a long story short, I have since had two revision operations on my nose to correct the damage done by the first surgeon.
The first was undertaken by the extraordinary Lucian Ion, who pulled back-in my nostril lining (apologies for not providing photos of this as it was a separate procedure undertaken before this lip-lift scar revision, and in case you are wondering, sadly he does not perform lip-lifts!).
The second operation, which is the subject of this review, was undertaken by the also extraordinarily skilled Georgios Orfaniotis, whom I chose because he is a plastic surgeon skilled in reconstructive/revision surgery who also works in the NHS (an indication of skill, in my experience), and because during our consultation, he was immediately insightful, empathetic, and spotted all the issues which needed correction, such as that my philtrum had also been stitched out of alignment and required straightening. Mr Orfaniotis agreed that the scar needed to be raised and that I had only 2-3mm of spare skin that might be removed to achieve this, therefore any scar revision had to be done very conservatively. I was nervous about too much skin being removed, but trusted Mr Orfaniotis' judgment and experience.
My previous lip-lift operation had frankly been brutal and left me in pain during the local anaesthetic, so I was wary about having local anaesthetic again, but during this procedure I was constantly tested for adequate pain relief and reassured as to each step of the operation, even being able to converse with Mr Orfaniotis as to the procedure, which instantly reassured me that I was in safe hands. I made my own way home after the procedure and even carried on with my work afterwards!
I've had a very easy recovery since then, and my second photo shows the scar at 2 months-post. It looks wide and is still swollen, no doubt due to my previous scar tissue, but as this isn't my first time at the rodeo, I know that once the swelling is gone, I will be left with a correctly-placed, flat scar. I accepted from the start that only the skin above my old scar could be removed (2mm of skin was removed this time), hence there are still stitch-marks beneath the scar, but these can be covered with make-up, and now that the scar will be flat, that can also be covered with make-up, which the previous textured scar would not allow me to do.
I can't say how grateful I am to have found Mr Orfaniotis to perform my surgery, and I wish I had known of him 3 years ago. He is professional, extraordinarily skilled, his stitches are small and neat (which is important in this procedure!), he has the patience to perfect his work and he will tell you straight what he can and can't do. If you are looking for highly competent, natural-looking work, I highly recommend Mr Orfaniotis, whose expertise in problem cases means that he can assist where other surgeons may not be able to.
I'm incredibly happy that Mr Orfaniotis has been able to correct a problem which I'd almost lost hope anyone could fix. I hope to update this with a new photo once the swelling of my scar has gone down.

Im considering a surgeon on the same street, I would be terrified if it happens to be the same who did that to you..
