26 Years Old Male Wanting to Do 3rd Revision Rhinoplasty - London, GB

Hi yes I also did let him know I was worried about the warping again but he said he hasn't seen it in his practice I trust dr ion he looks like a honest and skilful doctor, I will take my chance with him I don't want to see other doctor as it will just confuse me even more ,all the patients are happy with dr ion so hopefully he can fix my nose next year ,he did tell me he will have to use banked tissue from animal skin I'm little concerned about that because of the infection ,did he also suggested that animal skin on your nose ? also what is the problem with your nose what you need to change ?

Hi thanks so much for getting back. I'm feeling the same as you. Dr ion seems the best and feel I have to put my concerns aside. Don't want to consult with anyone else either. Its all hard enough as it is. I had a bad primary with over reduced dorsum and over rotated tip. Ion said I'd need rib due to amount of augmentation needed. He mentioned the animal doner graft as a possible onlay over rib to prevent it showing through as I'm thin skinned. Fascia is another option but he has not used this. Im more worried about it showing through the skin than warping as ion said warping is more about the skill of the surgeon using this material. I'd be reassured by that and he uses rib a lot so I'm sure you won't have a repeat of your current situation. He gave me the name of the animal skin graft but can't remember from the top of my head. Let me know if you want it so you can research about infection etc. Ion said he has used this material not extensively and mainly to augment rather than as a camouflage to rib graft like I was wanting

Thank you for getting back ,the animal skin is called surgimend it's safe to use same as you really I just want to think positive and leave my concerns alone and think about positive outcome I really dont think there are any other doctors in London that can do better than dr ion really I just hope nothing negative come up from other patients ,when are you getting your surgery done its nerve rucking isn't it I want to get it done asap but I'm keep delaying it for some reason I just don't know why

Yeah its super scarey! End of summer I think. When do you think you'll get surgery? I guess its best to be 100% before so take your time. I wish id been as cautious before my primary. I think we will be safe with ion. His work is beautiful. I'm really positive for you and just keep going back for consultations until you are ready. Ion has been really amazing and I've seen him a few times just to go through things I'm unsure of. Think he understands that when you have had a bad experience with rhinoplasty that you are going to be more cautious for any further ops. I think you will have a great outcome :)

I will have to wait till next year summer I need to save up ,the reason we get it bad the first time is because we are busy enjoying our life we don't go and search on Internet how to make sure we get the right surgeons etc it only happens when it goes wrong I was never looking on Internet about rhinoplasty I had broken nose I wanted to fix so I went turkey and they made my nose bad and dr mati in London made it even worse,so how dr ion will fix your nose is he using one big piece or small pieces of rib cartliges also are you letting him to use the animal doner graft

The plan would be straight rib graft rather than little pieces wrapped. I know he plans to use rib on tip. I'm really unsure about the onlay of animal doner graft. Im going to do more research I think. I am the one asking for a material like animal doner or fascia to prevent rib showing through in years to come and I am more worried that by using it it may take away from aesthetic result as his work is really beautiful using rib alone. Did ion suggest animal doner and for what reasons? Did you see before and after using animal doner graft? I am so sorry about what's happened. I don't think surgeons realise how much a bad surgery effects peoples lives. I know its been devasting for me. The good thing about having to wait like I did is that you can take your time and consider all aspects rather than rushing and like I said ion has been fantastic in all my consultations. I think he will help us put this nightmare behind us

Yes I know dr ion doesn't do diced cartliges with fascia he said he dosnt like doing that as it won't have good projection to the nose like mine because my nose need alot of building up and lengthening I'm only worrying about the doner tissue getting infected or the nose dosnt accept it that would be hell of a problem but i think if it dosnt work there is no way dr ion will use it anyway because he has a good reputation he will not destroy it I'm hopping this surgery will put me on the right track and forget about all that pain caused me ,I wish you good luck plz share when u have done it thanks

Hi yeh Well the rib cartilage is tricky it has to be used and carved in the right way if the doctor is rushing the surgery and not skilled surgeon it will warp or shift in nose 100 percent after few month so that's what my last surgeon did he just did everything very quick and I'm left with twisted nose and the tin cartilage is showing through the skin and moved

Hello mate I don't remember what was the surgeon name was this was 8 years ago ,don't rush revision find a good surgeon .

Ah ok, I consulted with Lucian this week but he didn't want to take my case on which I was gutted about (he was who I was hoping for as his tip work looks incredible and that's where a lot of my problems are). The abroad consultant I'm looking at is pietro Palma (my only remaining choice) but he doesn't use rib and I'm not a massive fan of his tip work. Now that Lucian has said no I have no other choice other than to live with something that I hate

Oh no that's bad news mate maybe he felt like your nose is hard work and because his very busy now days he might not take on a lot of revisions ,maybe it best to completely leave nose alone and live with it ,I know it's hard ,if ion can't do it maybe other can't do it as well

Hi there do you know why Ion said no? Generally surgeons who don't use rib or do a lot of revisions will turn people down. But he does both so I'm surprised to hear that
