Unhappy with Juvederm, Dissolved with Hyaluronidase - London, GB

My Juvederm wasn't bad, it was even, not too much...

WORTH IT$550
My Juvederm wasn't bad, it was even, not too much and administered well. I had 0.2ml in my top lip and 0.2ml Smile in the lower lip. However, I felt it fundamentally changed my face, my top lip was a totally different shape and I wanted something far more subtle than was actually achieved. I was so undecided as to wether I should leave it to go naturally but desperately wish I'd never done it in the first place, so researched Hyaluronidase.
After my initial fillers I had time off work as I swelled up huge straight after the procedure, everyone who saw me noticed and I was mortified. It was meant to be very subtle, but I was really upset. The original injector would not reverse the procedure as felt I may have an allergic reaction and warned me off Hyaluronidase. She told me to wait 2 weeks before even thinking about having it dissolved. All of my swelling was down after 6 days but she insisted it would still go down and I was still very unhappy.
Seeking a second opinion, I went to an amazing doctor, who consulted me on the same day and I decided to have the Juvederm dissolved. She assured me my swelling was down (day 6 post original fillers). There are minimal risks, and I went ahead with it. I could not be happier with the results!
Warning: it is one of the most painful things I have ever done. It stings and hurts far more than the original lip fillers. It was almost unbearable. Straight after my lip swelled even bigger than before, so I was really scared, but I sat immediately (as advised by the doctor) with an ice pack on my lip, and after 15 minutes it was down significantly. The following day my lip was back to normal 100% Juvederm free. My original filler was injected into the lip surface, and Dr Olver dissolved it from under the lip, I had 2 big bruises afterwards, one visible on my lip slightly and I bruised above my lip a tiny bit. This was all worth it to be back to my normal self! The bruising was gone in 4 days. I am happy again.
I am not adverse to cosmetic surgery, I have had rhinoplasty before and am all for self improvement. My warning to young women, if you want subtle results people won't notice, Juvederm is not for you, be happy with what you have and take your time, it was a very painful and very expensive mistake to make! However, I was so lucky I was able to have it reversed. Always go to someone who is fully qualified and ask to see exactly what they are putting in your lips (I took the label.)
I couldn't find a lot about Hyaluronidase online so I hope this helps anyone who is in doubt. There are risks with anything, and for me this paid off, I wish I'd never had lip fillers in the beginning!

I'm currently undergoing the same situation. I had juvederm fillers on Friday (it's now Monday), and my doctor says to wait a week for the swelling to go down but I know that when it all goes down that I still won't be happy with it. I'm not happy with the shape and feel it has changed my appearance. I am so embarrassed and disappointed. I have taken two days off work(unpaid), travelled 3 hours, spent $600 and will now have to go to work with the shame. I phoned him today very distressed and he tried convincing me that I would be happy with it and to wait. He didn't give me the option of dissolving the filler until I mentioned it and still was questioning why I would want that done. I definitely have a new appreciation for my old lips and I wish I never did this to myself. I couldn’t leave the house all weekend, will struggle to go to work this week and have had to decline invitations which involve building new friendships which is devastating as I have only just moved to an area and don’t know a lot of people. For anyone reading, if you were happy with your natural lips (like me) and thought you might look a bit better with fuller lips, I warn against it. I’m going to go ahead with removing the filler at the end of this week and will let you know how it went for anyone that is interested.

Have your lips settled down any? I freaked out too and thought I looked different and wanted them dissolved after two days. Now it's been two weeks and I am very happy with my lips. Wait it out. It'll get better I promise. Take Advil and ice every day.

I understand 100% how you feel. It was awful, and I just felt so silly for not appreciating what I had beforehand. I had mine dissolved a week after, I didn't go into work until the day after, no one noticed. 2 weeks is a long time and another doctor can tell you if you're swelling has subsided or not x

It sounds very much like you weren't prepared properly what to expect from treatment, lips will go down veryucj after two weeks and I always advise a two week settling period then a review, please be careful having Hyalase (dissolver) as it should just be used for emergencies such as impending necrosis, but just for correction as it has a high anaphylaxis rate and you should ALWAYS have a patch test done on your forearm and be monitored for half hour in clinic before treatmemt commences, also please understand that Hyalase can dissolve your own collagen (I have see this many times - and as I said should only really be used as a last resort or in emergency, have you tried a heat pad and massage yet? As you can break down a lot if the filler just with gentle massage, and any practitioner that is prepared to Hyalase your filler out when it's not even been two weeks I would I be very wary of as its a big risk for something that will settle and be ok, please be careful

I have just had hyaluronidase to dissolve unwanted juvaderm filler in my top lip. I am approaching the 24 hour mark and my lip is extremely swollen with two pockets of what appears to be liquid at the 2 injection sites. The original filler was not his sore or swollen? Is this normal and how long will it take to go?

Thanks so much for your comment. Very helpful. Like you, my original practitioner does not want to reverse the ugly puffy look that juviderm created below my eyes. With the help of this site I am going to get this done - and this time by someone who knows what they are doing. Thanks again.

Me too, I am horrified at what a small amount of filler has done to my eyes. How could I be so stupid! Is there anyone in London?

Hi, sorry to hear you had a bad experience, I must comment to say though that Juvederm if used correctly is one of the best HA fillers there are, the is a range of thicknesses of the filler and maybe you had one that was too thick for your actual lips to start with

(Sorry pressed send too quick) I have administered Juvederm into lips for the past 6 years and had fantastic very natural looking lips, so I think the point is is its not the brand of product used but the person administering it and I do feel it's an untrue statement to make, I have treated lips with Juvederm achieving excellent natural results where you wouldn't even tell the person has had filler yet it's given them a life changing result - please take a look at my before and after pictures on my Facebook page 'Ciley Beauty Advanced Aesthetics' and you'll see a great natural enhancement on a lady who had lost her lip due to extensive dental work and she now has a very subtle lip (with Juvederm) that looks like her own lip now, so maybe we shouldn't scare other people with incorrect facts
