Provider Review
I recently had a consultation with Charles East for a revision rhinoplasty which would involve cartilage grafting. Charles East came across as a fairly knowledgable surgeon, particularly regarding functional issues, however there were a couple of things which greatly disturbed me and convinced me not to proceed further with him. 1. He took great offence at being asked technical questions. I had a bad primary result partly because of poor communication with my surgeon, so I became relatively well versed through reading clinical studies and medical journals so as to not make the same mistake again with my revision. When I started asking Mr East technical questions, he became annoyed and impatient and was not prepared to answer them. 2. I asked to be sent copies of the morph made during my consultation to my email or to at least have them put on a memory stick I had brought along, but this request was denied. Mr East told me he couldn't give me the morphs because they were stored privately as part of the confidential patient record, which struck me as rather dubious. Morphs are obviously not totally indicative of the final result , but at the very least they're a good way to facilitate communication and make sure you and your surgeon are on the same page. I believe Charles East could potentially be a surgeon worth consulting with for a primary rhinoplasty or if you have functional problems, but the overall impression he left on me was that of a rather impatient and arrogant individual who would not be suited for my particular revision case.
