Revision Liposuction and Fat Grafting for Botched Knee to Ankle Lipo

WORTH IT
In 2021 I made the disastrous decision to seek ankle liposuction from the Dr Lanzer clinic in Sydney. They absolutely [RS bleep] my legs and now I'm seeking the help of Dr Rodrigo Rosique to help restore them to some semblance of what they were.
Sucking out almost 2 litres of fat from legs that weren't big to begin with, left me with loose skin from my knees to my ankles. Particularly my knees and the back length of my legs where the skin is now wavy, not taut like it once was. There are significant dents on the inside of my calves where little fat remains to cover the movement of my muscles, particularly noticeable and hideous on my right side. The outer side of my left calf muscle was stripped of fat so that you can see defined areas of the muscle, which looks completely unnatural and weird. As if that wasn't enough, there still remains pockets of fat on both ankles, I can literally see where the cannula stopped and didn't reach all of the fat on the lower inside of my ankles. Seriously, unbelievable.
I spent one whole year after my surgery wearing compression stockings 24/7 in the hopes that I was doing everything I could to affect the best possible outcome – and also because I just couldn't look at my legs without crying. After undergoing therapy, I got to the point where I could finally look in the mirror without bursting into tears. I then worked up the nerve to contemplate revision surgery and that led me here.
Finding reviews on Realself from ladies who'd had successful outcomes with their own revision leg lipo performed by Dr Rosique, spurred me to get in contact. After two consultations, talking thorough all my issues and concerns, as well as being fortunate enough to be in contact with some of his former patients and benefit firsthand from their insights and experiences, I feel very confident that Dr Rosique can help fix my legs.
My surgery is scheduled for 24 August and I am flying to Brazil with my partner who will care for me. I will spend 3 short weeks recovering there before making the horrendous trip home to Australia.

Thanks B!! Everything is going well!. Dr R is very happy with how I am recovering, and me too. I am getting a little to used to lying in bed all day though (minus the walks, of course) haha x

100% agree! I consider myself one of the fortunate ones because there is a class action against my doctor and all the doctors out of that clinic, which thankfully is no longer operating. Also, as I lay here recovering, just last week, I got an email from the lawyers saying one of the defendant doctors died. Although they didn't say, I am assuming it was by his own hand. Crazy.

I am confused why you originally wanted leg lipo if you say your legs weren’t fat to begin with? Did the doctor just do the wrong areas or places you all had not discussed? I’m not judging you, just genuinely confused and interested to know how it went so wrong!

Re-adding Before pics – Healing well from revision surgery

I just realised RS compressed the life out of my pre-op and original pics, so uploading them again individually just so it's clear what a disaster my legs were after being botched by that flop of a surgeon from Dr Daniel Lanzer's clinic in Sydney. Looking forward to those butchers getting nailed in court!
On a happier note, I am 2 weeks post my revision op. I am incredibly happy with the outcome so far. I will write a more detailed review when I'm further along and have the energy to do so. But my experience thus far has been terrific, and by the way I am looking right now and how well I am recovering, I am anticipating a very satisfying result. I remain exceedingly positive. I can't speak highly enough of Dr Rosique and his team, they have been exceptional in every way. They have looked after me so well and I feel a deep gratitude for the care and attention they have given me.
I have just less than a week left to recover here in Brazil until I fly home.

Thank you, I appreciate it. Yes, the healing process is tough! I hope you are recovering well and happy with your results x

tbh I am not :( I don't have those deep defects the Lanzer clinic gave you, but I suspect there are maybe a lot of fat pockets left behind around/right above my ankles, at least there is still swelling 3,5 months after surgery... but doctors tell mee it is too early it could be swelling and I have to wait the full 12 months... Are you recovering well from your revision?

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's so disappointing when you realise the outcome is not what you were expecting (and paid so much for!). The silver lining perhaps is that fat pockets are an easier fix then fat grafting, so you could still end up with an amazing result after a revision. And yes, it could totally still be swelling. Especially around the lower legs and ankles which take ages to resolve. I will say though, that after 3 months, I knew full well that it was still fat pockets in my ankles and not swelling because the shape never fluctuated like swelling does and I was acutely aware of what my fat ankles looked like prior to surgery. Are you still wearing your compression stockings? If not, I would suggest to continue wearing them 24/7 for at least 6 months. It not only helps with swelling but also skin retraction. If you can't wear the compression for whatever reason, make sure to oil your legs, keep them super hydrated, which is important for skin retraction x

Hello and thank you for your review. I have also had leg lipo and was left with contour irregularities, so I am looking for revision options. I am curious how you're liking your results? If you wouldn't mind posting updated photos, that would be so appreciated. This is such a difficult journey! I hope you're healing well

Hi moonbaby, how long has it been since your procedere... ? Seems like I will also end up with irregularities:(

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you're having to consider a revision as well, that sucks :( I will try to take photos and update my review in the next week, thank you for the reminder! As to be expected, some of the irregularities reappeared once the swelling subsided but I still remain incredibly happy with the job Dr Rosique did and I would certainly recommend him to anyone looking for revision lipo/fat grafting.

How are you healing if you don’t mind me asking?

Which surgeon from the Lanzer clinic was it? Was it Ali or Lanzer himself?

I'm curious to see what other cases he's botched. He seems to have disappeared off the radar. I hope you're recovering well.
