Day 6 Post Op!

Hello!
I had liposuction of my flanks, abdominal, and upper/inner thigh on Tuesday February 23rd. I was scared of the pain of recovery, and honestly got myself all worked up for nothing.
Long story:
I arrived at Dr. Shenker's office at 8am on Feb 23rd. Nurse Angie took my before pictures, and got me settled into a gown and cozy fleece blanket covered bed (that was heated!). She went over the drugs required for after care and wrote the frequency of dosage on each bottle. Then Dr. Nicholas the anesthesiologist came in to ask me some pre-operative questions. Wonderful and comforting bedside manner! Then Dr. Shenker arrived to do his artwork, drawing all over me and making notes of where the incisions would be. The time had then come, I updated my snap chat story, and off I went into the surgical room. I laid on the bed, they tied down my torso, then got my IV started, Dr. Shenker went over what he was planning to do and checked that everyone was in position. I felt the IV fluids start, then my arms were gently tied down to the table (but wrapped in blankets and not in any way scary). Jenny the patient coordinate even popped her head in the OR to say Hi! Dr. Shenker asked what music I wanted to listen to, and this time I was ready, "Backstreet Boys"! The song started, the mask went on my face, and next thing I knew I was waking up!
The aftercare nurse Adrienne was incredible, she put the nice heated blower up the bed, as I was pretty shaky from the anesthetic wearing off (think shivering). Adrienne checked my pain level (0-10, maybe 1?), and kept checking on me. Dr. Nicholas checked on me shortly after, again his bedside manner is calming. Then Adrienne brought me an apple juice and arrowroot cookies. Dr. Shenker had a busy day of appointments ahead of him, but he made time to pop over and say hi and get a selfie with me! Within an hour of waking up, my husband had arrived and I could go home. Adrienne helped me dress (over my rib to ankle long compression garment!), and walked me out. At 6:30pm that night, Dr. Shenker called me to check on me (how many other surgeons do that?!). Aftercare Nurse Lauren called me the next day to check on me, she's so reassuring and calm!! Not that I needed it, but it's nice :)

Recovery is a breeze! I took the pain medication Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and then just one overnight Friday. Today is Monday (day 6) and I haven't taken any pain meds in 3 days. Yes, I'm swollen. Yes, I'm bruised. I'm feeling pretty numb internally, just my flanks feel some "burning", and my inner thighs are tender.

To anyone considering Liposuction - do it. Your skin will never be this young again, and skin elasticity and overall health plays an important role in recovery. There will never be a better time to invest in yourself than right now!

I'm a mom of 2 kids (ages 3 and 5) - and I was actually so looking forward to this surgery and especially the care that the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic provides. As a mom, nobody takes care of ME. But the TCSC does! I remember being in the OR, and the nurses tucking my feet in with a blanket so they wouldn't be cold. I'd pay just to have a nap there some day, and be fed "snacks-in-bed", and music, and the heated blanket... I could go on!

Pics to come!

Liposuction abdominal, flanks, upper thigh

Only 6 more sleeps until my liposuction! Feb 23 is the date. March 5 2020 I had breast lift, fat transfer, and 470cc implants with Dr Shenker and I was so impressed with every part of the process and especially the results!. So I decided to go back to him for lipo. Summer 2020 I was in the best shape of my life - stronger and better cardio. But despite my working out, 1200 cal per day eating, my weight wouldn't move. My stomach flab and upper thigh fat are so discouraging. I'm 5'9 and 154 lbs. I'm so nervous for the procedure. Based on reviews on RS lipo seems to only have good results 50% of the time. Lots of poor results on here. However I'm confident with my surgeon and his skill and desire to leave my body looking better than when he got it. I've read that recovery is really painful so I'm also worried bout that. Ughhh I wasn't this nervous about the breast surgery. I guess I knew they'd look great, and be noticeably better. Nervous about this surgery though. Hope it gives me more confidence to wear dresses, shorts, and of course a bathing suit!
