Night and Day Difference! Amazing Tiny Arms Now!
Let me start by saying this review is LONG overdue but life happened and here we finally are! I started my celebrity arms journey back in December 2017 with a retouch/revision in December 2018 with Dr. Gruber.
I found Artistic Lipo/Celebrity Arms through social media via Instagram and Youtube. I unfortunately underwent a prior Lipo procedure on my arms in 2017 with a surgeon close to home. It was a few months before my wedding and I was desperate to thin down my arms to look my best in my strapless dress. Unfortunately, the surgeon barely made any impact or change on my arm size and actually left terrible incision scars and irregular areas particularly around my elbow and right under the crease of my arm meeting the armpit and only lipo’ed under the arm and not around the whole arm. It was a SLIGHT improvement before my wedding but the year following it, I continued to be incredibly unhappy with my arms.
Most of my adult life I was self-conscious of my irregularly large arms. It seemed like no matter how much weight I lost overall, that I never lost any fat in my arms. So in summertime, I was still covering up in long sleeves and was miserable. When I found the celebrity arms procedure and researched them and watched every video and saw every before and after photos, I decided they would be the ones to finally fix my arms. I loved that the videos clearly showed before surgery, during surgery and after surgery. Seeing the patient’s reactions to having one arm done and fat free and the other arm not done yet was the seller. They remove 90% of the fat while other doctors only do about 50% which I have dealt with. They also lipo the arms circumferentially which is KEY! They don’t just remove the fatty bat wings under the arm but the ENTIRE arm around from elbow to shoulder.
I scheduled consult and despite being out of state (several states away or a 2-hour plane ride) I was able to send my photos and consult with the doctor over the phone. I was very unsure if I should go with Dr. Su who perfected the technique or his partner Meegan but ultimately chose Meegan because she was a board-certified plastic surgeon and that made me feel more at ease. Our phone consult lasted about 20-25 min and I felt confident about everything. I scheduled the surgery date and made the arrangements for flying out to Tampa, hotel stay, pharmacy for meds, labs and so on. There were other areas besides my arm circumferentially that the doctor suggested to add on during surgery such as the axilla/upper back area under the arms along the side chest wall and the little bra bulge area in front by the armpit area. I added them on.
I flew in for the procedure and stayed at a hotel close by. Ate a breakfast as instructed before the procedure (it is awake and better to have carbs in the system to keep you from passing out). Came in the morning for the procedure. Brought back by the MA/Nurse to get vitals, be given oral pain meds and antibiotic and prepped for the procedure and pre-op photos taken. Dr. Gruber came in and met me officially and marked me up. Then I was walked to the room right across and further prepped for the procedure with a quick antibacterial type stand up wash by the MA/Nurse and then laid down on the surgical table.
Throughout the procedure, it was just the doctor and the MA/Nurse. Dr. Gruber made a few local injections and then some incisions to insert the cannula to instill the tumescent solution that would be the local anesthetic to numb my arms. This felt very pinchy and like it was pushing through fibers under my skin and was not totally comfortable but was quick. Then she gave it some time to take effect and then began the liposuction. Starting and finishing with one arm before moving onto the other. I had to flex my arm and put my arm into different positions and hold it while she contoured my arm all the way around. It was mostly tolerable pain-wise and occasionally felt a little stinging. It mostly felt like pressure. We stopped after the first arm and had me get up and look in the mirror to see the difference. WOW! Night and day difference! We then went to work and did the other arm. Towards the end, it started getting uncomfortable and between tweaking areas that we both felt needed a little more, she placed more tumescent solution to numb me up again. It definitely took about 3-4 hours to do my arms. But seeing both of them after they were done was shocking! I couldn’t believe how slim and small my arms were! Also, seeing how much fat was inside the cannisters was astonishing! They took off 2 liters off both arms, so about 1L each arms. That is a lot of fat! The surgeon who first worked on my arms a year and half prior claimed he took of 1.2 total from both arms…which I don’t believe but if that was true then he left 2 liters of fat still!
After checking out the work, they put surgical glue on a few of the incisions to close them and left a few of them open to drain and put on a special salve to help them close and heal. Then, the MA/Nurse put the arm compression sleeve garment on each of my arms and connect them like a bra in the back. That was not fun getting them on but she was a pro! I was given a sheet with my before photo and immediately after surgery photo which was pretty neat. Then I was helped to get ready and given instructions and a bag of supplies given to my husband to take care of me back at the hotel. Dr. Gruber texted me that evening to check in on me which was great.
I was pretty tired and sore/tender. I pretty much took pain meds and passed out propped up on pillows and on top of pads from the supply bag. My follow-up visit was the next morning. I was definitely VERY tender and sore. The MA/Nurse took off the arm garments and WOW! My arms were so bizarrely small and thin despite being swollen even! The doctor came in and checked my arms and took photos. I was put in a new set of arm compression garment . I flew home later that evening and going through security was fun…not! But I made it home and recovered over the weeks. I received calls from the office to check on me.
After a few weeks, the swelling went up especially at night and in my hands! I couldn’t wear my wedding ring. Everyday, all day I wore the garment on my arms except for 1 hour off and that 1 hour off was heavenly! But then after an hour the swelling would get worse and uncomfortable so as tender as it was to put back on the garment, it felt better compressed. You definitely need help the first week or 2 to put on the salve on the incisions and put the garment back on. Right away, people noticed I looked like I lost weight. I was much smaller in appearance just from my arms! I was ecstatic. Once healed, it was so life changing to be sleeveless in the summer! My husband said I had baby arms now! Haha.
I did end up going back to florida about 6 months after surgery to show Dr.Gruber my results and we both felt that although I definitely had a 90-95% improvement in my arms. I could benefit from a little further finessing and removal of a little more fat from certain areas specifically deltoid area. We made plans for me to come back in December 2018 (a year from the original) and fine tune them.
Repeat everything from the first procedure to prep for surgery except brought my mom with me this time around. Her and the doctor marked the areas that should be revised. This second procedure was of course shorter than the first and felt all the same things as the first. Another ½ L of fat was taken off both arms. I was put in an even smaller/tighter sized arm sleeve compression garment, which was great at first but ultimately turned out it was WAY too small because by the next day it was causing me a lot of pain and discomfort. I kept it on for a few days longer but ultimately had to put on my clean but older compression sleeves from the first procedure because the extra small one had dug into my sides by my armpit causing severe irritation close to an abrasion/rug burn look and feel. They also forgot to take post-op photos from this second procedure but other than those 2 things, things went great and my arms look amazing! They were kind enough to send me all of my pre and post op photos for my records and to compare. I continued to heal and recover and my arms looked better than ever!
Now a year later, I love my arms. I love having the option to be sleeveless in a dress or wear a tank top whereas before I never would because of how big and thick and ugly I felt my arms were. Having my arms done made my overall appearance more pleasing and like I lost a good amount of weight. Are my arms 100% perfect? No, but I had really large arms before and the prior lipo on them by another doctor made them more challenging. I do have a little loose skin but not noticeable to others just more of myself noticing. I have the option to live with a little laxity/looseness or could consider a mini brachioplasty in the future. But overall, I am 95% thrilled with my arms and I really do feel Art Lipo and Dr. Gruber changed my life with my arms. It was 100% worth it and I would definitely go back to them for any future lipo procedures and definitely would highly recommend them to anyone for hi def lipo! Their photos and videos on social media are no joke and are 100% real life as I am a living proof of it! Thank you again Dr. Gruber and Art Lipo!
