Drs Are Great, Their Spa Not As Much

Had a tummy tuck back in 2018/2019. I ended up developing fibrosis and went back for stomach liposuction (since you can’t do a tummy tuck and stomach liposuction at once) + arms. I stayed at the hospital a few nights and did the massages at their spa clinic and I have to share some real concerns about their practices.

Hospital and Drs:
That was great. No real issues there. Everyone was friendly. The only issue was the A\C for the rooms would turn off at night and it would get hella hot ???? (80 degrees). Had to call the nurses to turn it back on each night.

Spa (oh boy):
1. Torchure: they are NOT gentle. You will scream and cry. I passed out from the pain. At one point I had 3 people working on me at same time (one was training) I told them that I couldn’t have more than one person working on an area at a time, cause it was way too painful. They stopped, but then they would go back in an effort to train the other lady. I was so exhausted from the pain I would get home and pass out for 4-5 hours each time.

2. Sterilization concerns: They cut q-tips to make pointy angles to re-open cuts to drain. Wouldnout them down and re use them. Half the time they didn’t use gloves or would go in and out touching other surfaces and wouldn’t change gloves.

3. They have their kids running around and one (4 or 5 yr old boy) came in opened the door and started asking his mom about food while I’m there butt naked trying cover myself and not to pass out from the pain! Very awkward and uncomfortable! I don’t let my own kids see me naked at that age. It happened 3 more times through out my sessions.

One day, they forgot to book me, so I had to find someone else ASAP since you have to do the massages every day. I found a med spa in San Juan, and holy crap, what a difference! She had surgical grade individually wrapped stainless steel pins to reopen wounds for drainage (not unsterile qtips), used gloves the entire time. She was gentle and was able to remove and drain as effectively with hardly any pain!!! The owner explained how the extreme pressure and deep kneeding massage technique I received at DaVinci Spa was obsolete, and has not been recommended for years because it was found to cause fibrosis. She explained how that’s how she learned at first too, but that was over a decade ago. And through continuing education classes, new techniques have come out. I cried, knowing I was tortured for no damn reason….literally cried. I was seriously scared and have mini-anxiety attacks thinking I had to go into a massage with DaVinci. With the new lady, I would get home, walking around feeling better (no crash afterwards). Was still painful, but tolerable - no crying, yelling in pain, or passing out. And she was HALF the price! I stopped going to the DaVinci spa, and just went to her exclusively after that.

I’m finishing up week 2, will post after pics after week 3.
