Dr. Su Absolutely Changed my Life!

I am currently in my 9th week post procedure, which took place on July 19th, 2021, and my mind is still blown. I cannot believe my results. I wanted to wait to write this review until after I got through the beginning of my recovery, so I could accurately share my experience.
This has always been a big problem area for me. I’ve had a complex about my legs since I was very small. I never understood why I was SO thin but carried so much weight in my legs. About 8 years ago I basically starved myself to try to lose the fat in my legs, resulting in me weighing in at 125lbs (which is very thin for someone sitting at 5’9”) and saw NO change in my legs. I was frustrated. I lost motivation and was extremely self conscious. I no longer cared about my fitness because the ONE thing I wanted to change about myself, wouldn’t. I gave up. From there, my legs only got bigger- even when the rest of my body did not. I finally got fed up and just wanted to feel normal, so I started considering liposuction. After doing tons of research and contacting several different doctors, I found Dr. Su. I absolutely knew he was the one. I was blown away with his results! They were like nothing I’ve seen with any other doctors. But my next obstacle was the fact that Dr. Su was in Florida, and I live all the way in Bakersfield, California. It took time, and lots of planning but I made it work. I had officially decided to travel across the country to have liposuction of the calf, ankle and knee complex by Dr. Su. And let me tell you, it was one of the best decisions of my life.
The morning of my procedure, I had a big breakfast full of carbs (which was encouraged) and I was on my way. The staff was absolutely amazing and sweet and helped calmed my nerves. Honestly I was more excited and emotional than nervous, as I was finally doing something I had waited for for many, many years. Dr. Su began the procedure by using several local anesthetic shots to numb the areas he would place the incisions. Although the shots were a bit uncomfortable, they were very tolerable. The incisions were not felt at all, that was a breeze. I counted about 23-24 small incisions in each leg. Next it was time for the numbing, which is in the form of a fluid that is injected into the incisions via a small cannula. The numbing was a very weird sensation, and slightly uncomfortable, but I would not describe it as painful. Next came the liposuction. The first leg was a breeze. Dr. Su made sure I was comfortable the whole time, and if things got a little painful in some areas, he would offer to numb me a little more. I was very appreciative. Before my first leg was even done, I remember I got very emotional because I couldn’t wait to see my results, and let a couple tears fall. About an hour and a half later my first leg was done, and Dr. Su sat me up and showed me my leg. I ugly cried. I was so happy and in shock I couldn’t even speak. I got to look at my leg from every angle and it didn’t feel real. I was ready to start on my next leg. I had a little break, drank a little soda and he got right back to work. I was much more uncomfortable when he was working on my second leg. I believe the numbing was wearing off of my first completed leg because it started burning, making me more sensitive to pain I suppose. I powered through it but was much more quiet that round lol. He was very compassionate and kept checking on me making sure I was comfortable. I just wanted to see my results so I did not want any breaks lol. After he was done, he sat me up and again, I cried. I was in shock. My body was tired. My heart was happy. When I got in the car with my husband to head back to the hotel, I balled my eyes out the whole way there while my sweet husband, equally happy for me, held my hand. I wasn’t crying because I was in pain, but because I was soooooo happy. I just could not believe it was over. I had finally done it. Years of being embarrassed and unhappy- it was all over. I was given a new beginning.
Recovery was hard. Walking hurt. I had a severe burning sensation in my legs when I stood up, but walking is crucial and important during the recovery process to prevent blood clots. I didn’t want to walk. I didn’t want to go pee because sitting down (any bending of the knees) hurt so bad. I had a very VERY hard time, and got to look forward to flying home 2 days later. The next day was my follow up where the nurse changed my compression garments, and I have to say that was the worst part for me. It hurt- A LOT. I was so scared to have to do that on my own at home.. I was very nervous to do so. My husband was patient and helped me get around and even pushed me in a wheelchair through the airports, we had 3 connecting flights. Side note, if you are traveling to have this procedure done, DO NOT do connecting flights home. Do a direct flight. Just do it. I was miserable. After about day 4 shuffling around got a little easier. I tried to stay moving as much as I could tolerate. Changing my compression garments took me about 25 minutes, i tried to take it slow and steady and take deep breaths, because pulling them up over fresh incisions did not feel good. The garments are very important for healing so they MUST be worn! (I still wear mine a few times a week and I’m in week 9, they really help with swelling.) every time you put them on, it gets a little bit easier. Bruising showed up the heaviest in the second week, and the swelling peaked at about the 6th week. Although I am still experiencing swelling, it’s not very much. Walking at a normal pace became easier around week 3, and I could bend at the knees and kneel around week 5. This has been a process and it’s not over yet, but this is what I could share thus far :) I tried to be thorough as I know how much it helped me to read others stories/reviews. Honestly I’m very open and willing to share more info as I know this is a big decision, so feel free to follow/message me on Instagram- Hannajean_xoxo
I highly recommend Dr. Su- no one can compete with his results. I just went to Vegas and got to wear a short dress, you just can’t put a price tag on that feeling!:)
My advice is just do it. Do it now. Don’t wait. It changed my life!
