Week 5 and 6 is great!

Dr Ersin's assistant, Murat checked in with me last week via whatsapp to ask me how I am and if i had any questions or needed any help with my recovery. I am SO pleased. It is precisely this kind of care that I was looking for when searching for a surgeon. For the clinic, it may not take much time to send a short message, but for a patient like me who lives abroad, it means so much knowing they still remember me and bother to ask me how I am.
Week 5 was really great as with my daily self-massages (still doing them after my showers), my MLD treatments and exercise, so much more of the swelling and pain subsided! In week 5 I finally felt more mobile, I could move and bend my arms and legs around so much more naturally.
As I mentioned in my last update, because your nerves start to work again, you begin to notice 'normal' every day aches and pains that you didn't before. (eg. aches in my feet from walking/standing a long time etc) Well, I guess this makes you feel a lot more like a human being.
I still get stiff and experience mild pain if I sit down for too long (poor circulation), but the lumpy swollen areas (abdominals, inner thighs) really reduced so much from week 4 and 5, there are times I forget that I have had surgery.
All of my stitches closed up by week 3-4, and by week 5, they were no longer sore. Some are little bumps (still brown in week 6), and others are completely flat and smooth.
I have noticed the discolourations and marks on my abdominals from my abrasions from my garment (I had some scabbing) are still visible but have reduced with the creams and oils I have been using.
Most of my friends who do not know about the surgery have remarked that I look great, but no one has asked me about my body shape/weight yet. If i do not wear anything tight fitting I look very similar. My friends who know I have done the surgery say when I wear something fitting, they can see the difference clearly. They have also remarked that my exposed arms definitely look leaner.
I can definitely see the difference (EVERY DAY!). My stomach is SOOOO much smaller. My knees for example look so shapely now and my legs (even with swelling) are so much more lean looking and parallel. I still feel like my hips and butt are big, and I'm trying to be patient and wait for them to go down further.
I am at Week 6 and it has been fabulous. I went for an aerial yoga class this week and was able to do some cool moves! Had minimal pain, and I am not able to stretch as much yet but overall I am happy and proud of myself. I also received a normal body massage a few days ago and there was very little pain. I feel its helped my recovery as the last few days I see even more difference in my body.
So far I have had 7 MLD sessions (2x a week) and will do 3 more (1x a week) and see how it goes. I am looking forward to going back to my gym training, pilates classes etc. to tone up and lose weight, and I think I feel comfortable enough doing that this week.
The recovery has been rapid for me BUT I am learning that it still needs to take it's course, so you really have to be patient and go easy with yourself.

Week 4

In week 4 I continued with my MLD treatments, and I continued to shrink every day! EVERY SINGLE DAY my body changes. And it reminds me to be patient. I also continued at the gym, very gently, just 30-40 mins a day (it still hurt). In week 2-3 when I got back to my country I immediately sent my compression garment to the tailors and she took it in like 3 inches! I started on the middle row of hooks again, and by week 4 I was on the 3rd (tighter) row of hooks!

Even though Dr Ersin said I only need to wear the garment for a month, I have continued to wear it at home and to sleep. My friends from South-America say patients there wear their garment for 3-6 months for best results! My compression socks have been SO helpful in helping me reduce swelling, I wake up every morning with visibly smaller thighs.

Week 4 was good because I would allow myself to go out without wearing my garment so I felt less hot and a lot more free. I also bought a thigh/butt shaper to hold my hips and butt IN, as I feel thats the last bits to go down (still very swollen there). They look like bicycle shorts, and work quite easily under clothes. After wearing this, I have felt my hips and butt FINALLY start to go down. I did not do a BBL mind you, but some fat transfer was done for shaping, so just to clarify, I do not want a big butt!

I got strains in my neck and shoulders from sleeping face down .. I am really over this not being able to sleep on my back thing and CANNOT WAIT FOR MY 2 MONTH MARK so I can sleep normally.

Interestingly enough, the numbness started to subside more in week 4, your nerves start to speak to each other again ... which meant ... in a way, 'more' pain. Basically you feel more sensations in your body, it feels more sensitive and tender in some areas. YEP. In week 4 I was surprised I still had some pain, but this is apparently normal.

Week 3

WOW I can't believe as I write this that it is already been 44 days since my surgery.

Even though I was already 2 weeks post-op then, the plane ride home was one of the most uncomfortable I had ever experienced! I flew with a very good airline AND had an empty seat beside me but still! Travelling long haul post surgery is really, URGH. I just could not wait for it to be over. You are stiff, you swell up, and the BBL pillow is not comfortable to be sitting on for long. Dr Ersin advised me to walk for 5 mins every hour and to do feet and leg exercises. But with the tiredness, discomfort etc. i just wanted to get my ass off the plane and finally lie on my own bed. I cannot imagine and do not recommend someone else doing that after only a week or less post surgery.

Naturally as I am shrinking everyday, I got excited and tried on every piece of clothing in my wardrobe when I got home. Looking back I do not recommend this, haha as now, a few weeks later, I am already smaller and things fit differently (and even better). You do not realise just how swollen you are until you are not.

I began my MLD treatments (2x a week) once I got back. I found an MLD therapist here who although did not specialise in post-lipo treatments, has had experience with tummy tuck and lipo patients in the past. She has also worked with people with much more serious conditions, like lymphoma and trauma after accidents etc. She is not a masseuse (a lymphatic drainage massage is not the same as manual lymphatic drainage). Each time I see her I feel the difference right away. Swelling goes down, less lumps, less hardness, things flow. It's a gradual process as she can't do everything all in one session (45mins), but definitely effective! Please work with a professional.

Week 3 I also began exercising. Dr Ersin said it was safe for me to do whatever I felt comfortable doing. I did intermittent running/walking on the treadmill for 20 mins and some weights almost every day from week 3. Yes it hurt, especially my inner thighs which were still very swollen and sore, my abdominals, and I could not stretch my sides (it felt like it was tearing).
