While on the table and drugged for the procedure, the music played during surgery had racial slurs. I was stunned and disappointed. Up until this point, I had doubts about how the attitudes of the support employees of Artistic Liposuction & Plastic Surgery Center. Nicole had behaved as though SHE was the practicing doctor. She was condescending, telling me that “they felt” I looked a lot better than before the liposuction. Well, I should! That’s what I was paying so much to accomplish!!!
The woman at the window was rude when she was accepting my final payment suddenly needing an additional copy of my driver’s license which I declined to present, because what happened to the copy I already sent? In fact, they acted as though they were doing me a favor! I was paying full price and my credit card cleared with each high-priced fee charged.
I did not think that Dr. Gruber or Angie were less than sincere … until the songs with the slurs played while I was on the table and I was sent an email offering a returning client discount after I asked for discounts that were not offered to me.
NOW, nearly a year later, I am getting an email offering a discount?!!! Wow. The disrespect of it all is disheartening. I had previously suggested to someone else that they should go to Dr. Gruber because I was satisfied with the sculpting she had done even if I was disappointed in the incomplete job from the first visit. I excused the attitudes of the support staff because it was more important to me that I felt good about Dr. Gruber’s work and attitude.
Unfortunately, I am dissatisfied with the scarring. As of this moment, my back, sides and stomach have about 25 scars. All of the scars from the cannula entry points are dark. Some of the scars are flat, but others like some on my torso, my shoulders and on my back near my armpits are raised. There is actually a scar between my breasts that looks like a third nipple. It is very unfortunate because I am unable to wear anything low-cut due to this darkened, raised scar right between my breasts.
They are not forthcoming about the scarring. Even when they provide photos from the immediate results, they make adjustments to optimize the skin’s appearance. I got caught up in the misrepresentation of the immediate results photograph after the procedure. Wearing a tank top or a crop top or a scooped back shirt is not aesthetically pleasing to my eyes-the ones that matter! These liposuction scars are problematic. I never imagined that there would be SO many.
I was willing to see some of my grievances as oversights, minor mistakes or misunderstandings. However, taken as a whole over the course of a few interactions, I see this as a way of operating for this office.
In addition to my issues with scarring, I am unwilling to recommend that anyone patronize Artistic Liposuction & Plastic Surgery Center for the following reasons:
* I asked before coming for my back liposuction surgery that I be prescribed an alternative pain reliever to Percocet. They agreed to make the substitution, but when I arrived they had not actually made the substitution. Consequently, I had to go pick up another prescription from Walgreens. They did not return the Percocet to their pharmacy partner in a timely manner which meant that I had to make several calls to receive my refund for the Percocet.
* I did not authorize the use of my credit card to order pain medications and antibiotics for the Celebrity Arms surgery, but they ordered it anyway. I had to make quite a few calls to get a refund for the drugs I did not order or accept.
* The attitude of the support staff in the front could use some improvement. Nicole behaved as though she is a practicing doctor in the office. I do not know the names of the women at the front desk, but they are less than friendly.
* While I was on the table during my final visit, music with racial slurs was played during my surgery. It was jarring and disrespectful.
* AND, after all of the hoopla surrounding my having to return for completion of work already paid for and my asking for a discount for my inconvenience and my paying full price for an additional surgery, they had the temerity to send me an email offering a repeat customer discount. How about a refund of the discount you would offer for the repeat customer?!!!

Than you for your detailed review. Dr Gruber was first on my list but the information you provided makes me rethink contacting her practice. No one else has mentioned the scarring and altering photos to minimize or hide the scars is in the very least deceitful. These procedures are costly and I prefer to use an office who will make me comfortable from the moment I enter until I leave. I've heard that Dr Gruber is quite the artist and I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience with them. Again, thank you for your honest review.

This makes me very nervous as well. I’ve seen SO many lipo holes in some of the videos but it’s very difficult to see any of them in their photos. I was wondering if they always do a ton of lipo holes for the areas they treat

What a terrible experience! This group shouted unethical practice, complete patient insensitivity and disrespect. You’ve done a great service to others by reporting this. There are many other talented Plastic surgeons to choose from and I hope that those seeking care go elsewhere until this office gets its professional and ethical act together .

I had done some looking on the Florida Dept. Of Health Look Up Doctors License website and was amazed that Dr. Gruber has no specialty certification listed. I just rechecked and still nothing shown and that’s information that is provided by the physician. You might consider filing your complaint with the Florida Dept. Of Professional Regulation which governs the medical profession.

Agree with this. For both Drs Gruber and Su. They pretend to be plastic surgeons and charge outrageous fees. Dr. Su is not even board certified. Be careful.

wow! and I was hoping to get my surgery with her but changed why mind when she quoted me something like 15K for liposculpture of the flanks and abdomen-- and I'm really little to begin with. Such a shame!

I can hear the frustration and hurt in your comments. We always strive to give the best patient experience possible and will take your comments as constructive criticism as we continue to work to improve our patient care. With regard to the music, we are no longer streaming Spotify Top Hits as they do not beep out curse words like the radio would. Thank you for bringing that to our attention. We always feel that direct contact is the best way to get to your goal and if you would like we are here to take your calls and answer any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Dr. Meegan Gruber and team
I see where you commented on my review from realself. It bothers me that you saw that review and commented almost immediately, mentioning that “direct contact is the best way to get to [my] goal and if [I] would like [you] are [there] to take [my] calls and answer any questions [I] may have.” I have been treated poorly. And, in the past, my interactions on the phone, within emails and in texts have not yielded the most favorable results.
I had issues with unprofessional tone-on the phone, in emails and in person. I repeatedly had to call to get refunds for medications I did not order or accept. I asked explicitly about receiving discounts that were not offered to me.
One such very specific example was in a text message on June 8th of last year. I wrote the following: “I still want my back completed. Am I receiving this refund in addition to being able to come back and have my back completed for no additional charge when I come back for my arms and thighs?” The reply I received was as follows: “Im going to have to ask them. I thought that this was a refund because you werent going to come back. Sorry for the back and forth. The business part of the practice is is 100% handled by Dr. Su.
they're gone for the weekend but i sent a text w your question.”
The answer deflected to Dr. Su and resulted in no discount at all when I had to fly back from Tacoma, Washington to have the original work completed. Because I wanted my upper back completed as outlined in my estimate and I was so satisfied with the work that had already been completed, I decided it was worthwhile to continue being a patient.
Even after inconveniencing myself and my family to return to have my initial liposuction procedure completed to the specifications shown on my estimate markup, having scheduled two surgeries in addition to the completion of the first surgery AND asking explicitly for a discount, I was not offered a discount. I am insulted to now-a full year after my first surgery-receive an email informing me that you offer a returning patient’s discount. I would still accept a partial refund for my THREE surgeries since you DO offer discounts.
On the surface, it appears that you are genuinely concerned. However, the fact that this email was sent to me and when I replied you did not look to see that I had already paid for and undergone additional surgeries with no discount shows indifference and inattention to detail. An earnest response to my review would have included contacting me telephonically or the same way you sent this email following up and offering a returning patient’s discount. Instead, after all, there was a quick, public response to my published review expecting me to call your office.
