Photo upload for previous post. I don’t m Ke why it didn’t post the first time. Realself is still clunky it seems. And posts are required to have a 200 character minimum so here is me rambling with empty nonsense to fulfill that requirement. Thank you.

Hi there! How many mm’s did you remove?
Hi! I think I said it in previous post. I started at 17.5 (but when lips rest against each other it could possibly be longer), and had 6.5, then 2.5, then another 2.5 removed. So 11.5 removed, but my end result is actually about 9mm, not 6 like you’d assume with simple math.
Hi! Can you tell me whether you would recommend Dr Hsu or Mascaro ultimately? I'm booked for a consult with both of them (revision) and just want the least noticeable scar possible. Don't care about location, but my scar is really awful.
Honestly I’d say they’re both equally good and they will both clean up your scar nicely. Mascaro is about half the price. Unfortunately, some people just scar more on the lip area, myself included. So I always ended up with a scar, not invisible but not noticeable by other people. So I wear scar tape or waterproof bandaid wings (they work great or better) and slee with them nightly to encourage a smoother scar. I also microneedle the scar occasionally as it matures.
I’d add I think I got a slightly better scar with Hsu, but unfortunately that was countered by the kind of stitches she used (at least this is my theory) I reacted to them just a little and got a pimple looking abscess that 9 months out, I think finally totally drained and so I scarred a little more in that area.
Thank you so much! I didn't realize Mascaro is half the price, that's wild because he is so much more known for this procedure. I don't tend to scar badly, but I did once have a bad reaction to dissolvable stitches which makes me a little nervous that the same thing could happen to me. Anyway thank you so so much this really helps!!
Location location location. California Beverly Hills is expensive! Florida, not so much. You are welcome!! I never reacted to the stitches Mascaro gave me.

18mm vs 9mm Before and After

This measurement is the bottom base of nose into dip of Cupid bow. Before any LL surgeries vs today. Believe it or not, a total of 11.5mm was reportedly cut over my surgeries, but the end result is not 18-11.5, and actually I supposedly started at 17.5 which minus 11.5 would be an end length of 6mm (standing measurements always), but that’s not how skin works since it is elastic, so keep that in mind. I think lip lift surgeries generally come out less drastic than you’d expect.

6 month update

I am very happy I went forward with this. No regrets. It’s been an expensive journey but I finally feel like my mouth is where it should be! Does not look unnatural at all. The initial swelling and extra perkiness has subsided, but lips are still a little perky like I had hoped with a nice shape. Know that with lip lifts they almost always “drop” due to loss of swelling and I think the stitches dissolving which hold the lip more taught.

The only bad thing that happened along my healing is the incision was initially undetectable, until my body became unhappy with the type of internal sutures used. Along my incision I kept getting a small purple abscess (like a pimple) that would plump, pop, drain, reappear, and this process happened four times and started to cause hypertrophic scarring. The last abscess never popped and so I have a tiny lump stuck underneath my scar it seems - but I proactively “drained” it by microneedling it which seemed to reduce it to half size and I’ll repeat this process, along with continuous nighttime use of waterproof bandaid wings over the scar for hypertrophic scarring - I have found waterproof bandaid wings to be superior to any silicone tape or mepitac tape I have ever used. It literally sticks always for 12-24 hours straight, doesn’t budge with any water or sweat, and it’s super cheap. Go get yourself some bandaids and just cut up the wings to your desired shape and size. So now overall my scar is pretty flat and not noticeable to anyone besides me, but I will need to microneedle a little more to drain whatever is still stuck under my incision - I think the internal sutures have mostly dissolved at this point.
