Lip Lift Journey

Hello everyone! I have finally decided I am going to have my lip lift done, I've booked the date and with that I have decided to document my journey here! I will have my op on the 30th of October, that should leave me with enough time to get ready.
I'm gonna be travelling alone so it will be even more nerve wrecking\exciting. No one except my fiance knows about this (he supports my decision but unfortunately he cant come)
Hopefully I can gather some tips so I can be even more prepared, I've already booked the time off work but I still need to sort out plane tickets, means of transportation, accommodation(going to be using AirbnB for this). I've never been to the states before let alone had a surgery done in a foreign country, so any advice is appreciated. Im happy to talk to anyone here whos going through\been through the same experience.
Based on all the reviews here I have chosen Dr Miguel Mascaro to be my surgeon. I've already had the skype consultation on the 24th of July, he was super nice and answered all my questions, his assistant Lauren has been super helpful too. Lets hope it all goes well.

How much is it going to cost? Which country are you from?

Good luck. I had my Skype consultation with Dr Mascaro on 22nd July but still have a few questions so will email him before deciding whether or not to go through with the procedure. I'm afraid of nostril distortion and scarring. Please keep us updated on your experience. I will be travelling alone as well should I go through with it. Maybe I just need to take the plunge after 10 years of thinking about it haha.

I have no nostril distortion. For the first couple of weeks they looked wider/more flared, but went back to normal

Hello, it is exciting and nerve wracking. I will be having my procedure done in a couple of days. My husband will be with me and I’m still nervous. I’ve too been wanting to do this for years and didn’t even know this procedure existed until a few years ago. I had 2 FaceTime consults before deciding to schedule. I did know I wanted Dr. Mascaró to do the procedure based on reviews and our consults. I posted before pics and will post after the surgery.

58 days to go :')))
I've used expedia to book my flight and hotel. decided to treat myself and go to a real hotel instead of going with AirbnB, the cost isn't that much more expensive.
I've got my USA adapters, surgery masks(so I dont get weird stares while healing), bought a scar cream(Kelo-Cote UV), ordered a triple antibiotic cream(on its way), health insurance, now I just need to sort out:
- special transportation service to pick me up after the surgery
- a phone package deal so I can have internet and a phone line while im there(just in case)
- get some money exchanged
- pack as lightly as possible so I only need carry-on luggage
- buy a tablet or a laptop so I dont die of boredom while waiting at the airport!(loooong layover and equally long flight)

CANT WAIT. Posting a before and potential after of what im hoping to achieve. Hopefully I don't have unrealistic expectations?

Are you from the UK? I'm looking at travelling to America next year for a second lip lift on my own.

You should be able to Uber/Lyft it back to your hotel afterwards.....it's an easy procedure typically done with local anesthesia (unless you requested IV sedation or General), so you shouldn't need special medical transport. Best of luck!

Dr. Mascaro requires you to leave with a trusted friend or special medical transport. He will not operate if you do not have a way home with either a friend or medical transportation. Most surgery centers will not let you leave with Uber/Lyft/taxi. You are in a vulnerable state (twilight anesthesia) and if you are assaulted, the doctor's practice can get sued....

Hey, I'm planning on having a lip lift with Dr Mascaro in February. I will be flying alone from the UK. Do you know of you can arrange medical transportation through dr Mascaro /his office? He told me I'd just be having it with local injections as sedation has little effect on me x

Hi Eleanoradoll - yes you can arrange the medical transport through the contact they give you at the office. It's fairly inexpensive. You will still need to have transport even if you're just doing local injections because you might have a pain pill beforehand as he suggests. Good luck with your procedure!

Look into getting Quercetin with Bromelain, TCA, PAL-GHK, Peptides BPC-157 for healing.

Hi. Do you have personal experience with these compounds?

10.28.19- I had two flights ahead of me, one a connection flight, a total 30 hours of waiting and a lot of anxiety, my flight to Florida nearly got cancelled but thankfully eventually worked out.

I’ve arrived to Delray on the 29th, tired as hell but the staff has been really accommodating and considerate. Got myself a nice little room to suit all my needs. After buying the medication that’s been prescribed to me I’ve just drifted off to sleep.

The next day, 30.10, the day of my surgery. I got to explore Delray a bit and arrived to the clinic. Dr. Mascaró and his staff were super nice, I’ve showed him what I’ve wanted, i initially thought the distance from my lip to nose is 20mm, but he measured again and it’s 18mm. I’ve originally wanted to remove 5mm but he said Id get a better result if I remove 8mm, I can pull it off, and boy am I glad I listened :)
The op didn’t take long, I’d say about 40mins, I was later picked up by special care transportation and brought back to my hotel.
Since then I’ve mostly been following the post care protocol religiously, getting tons of sleep and eating lots of protein shakes/pineapple juice/baby food. So far so good :) it’s best you don’t do much for the first days as those are the most crucial days in your healing process!
The motel provided me free WiFi and Netflix so I wasn’t bored. It’s pure bliss.
Fortunately for me there was no bruising/minimal swelling but it’s still too early to tell what the final result will be like. It could take up to 2 weeks for the entire swelling to subside.

Today it is the 1st of November, I’m getting my stitches taken out on the 4th at 9am,
I have to say this has been the best and scariest decision of my life and if I could I would do it all over again because it’s absolutely worth it. Dr. Mascaró has given me my confidence back, he has exceeded my expectations and honestly, I’m not ashamed to say I feel beautiful. I just hope the result doesn’t change much.(I know it will .. a little bit. :/ )

But anyway I’m so happy I did this for me and didn’t chicken out.
Also for those who are wondering the procedures doesn’t hurt at all.
I’ll upload pictures in a min.

You look beautiful!
More questions please? I have a Skype consultation with Dr. Mascaro on March 6 ..
1. Did you rent a car at the airport or did the office send a car for you?
2. Name of the hotel and cost?
3 Did Lauren book the room for you... and if so ..was she able to get you a good deal/discount? .
4. Did you need a room with a kitchen?
5. Are there grocery stores near the hotel?
6. Did you have to sleep in a chair rather than a bed?
7. Did you find that you lost weight due to it being a liquid diet? ( I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one) lol
Thanks in advance...Look forward to hearing from you.
