I’ve always wanted a fuller upper lip, but wanted something more permanent than fillers. I ended up finding Dr. Almonte and couldn’t be happier with my experience so far.
His whole staff is super friendly and helpful and Dr. Almonte is amazing. He only does facial surgery and specializes in face lifts, so I knew I was in good hands.
I found him on Instagram (@californiafacesurgeon) and was able to schedule a consultation for the next morning. I had my consult with the RN Cynthia and booked my surgery for March 12th.

Day of surgery and day 1 update

Yesterday was day of surgery. Surgery went well. Dr. Almonte and his staff are wonderful. I asked for as ‘much off as possible’ without looking weird. He removed 7 mm - starting was 17.5/18 mm. My biggest concern was my lip looking more or less the same after surgery, but I think I will be very happy with the end result.
Eating has been difficult. I wasn’t in too much pain, more just tightness day of surgery.
DAY 1
Lip was very very swollen this morning. More so than I expected - hoping tomorrow will be less swollen. I’ve been taking Arnica and icing as instructed. So far no pain today.

I was just as swollen and mine has turned out beautiful! I am at month 3 and it gets better everyday! I don't understand why some of us swell with this procedure and others do not??

Thank you for telling me that! I looked back at other reviews this morning and nobody else really looked too swollen, so I’m glad to hear your experience and outcome.
Maybe it has to do with how much was skin was taken off. I feel like most of the cases that weren’t super swollen ended up being a more conservative lip lift.

Woke up much less swollen than yesterday, which was a pleasant surprise. A lot of the swelling has moved down to my lower face, so I will try icing this area tonight.
Pain is very minimal (maybe a 2) and have only been taking Tylenol. Zero bruising. Eating has been getting easier since I’m not as swollen.
I can’t emphasize enough how amazing Dr. Almonte has been throughout this journey. I was concerned about the selling yesterday so I texted him a picture. He called almost immediately and answered all my questions. He reassured me that my swelling was within acceptable limits and that I was probably in the worst of it (of course he was right and the swelling has gone way down today). He gave me a couple things I could do to help with the swelling alongside icing. He has even been having me text him pictures every day so he can monitor the swelling. Needless to say I am very very impressed with Dr. Almonte and his team!
