It has taken a LONG time for me to be able to get my lips to a satisfactory place. I started out with NOTHING. The shortening of my philtrum is a game changer!
I hope you are enjoying your results!

I think this is really well done. Your upper lip is much smoother, far less lines, more "lip" flip, without the duck lips that some are left with. Your smile seems unaffected and it's taken years off you. Kudos

Lots & Lots of Work

Soooo, here are my thoughts for people, like myself, that have VERY, VERY thin lips. It takes a LOT of CONSTANT work to create something that is not there naturally. Also, lip lift for thin lips does not create a full nice lip. It just shortened my philtrum. Which does look nice. But, I went in thinking I would have lips that looked more full. NO. For a LONG time I felt like I had a pigs snout. I have had THOUSANDS of dollars of filler (that is so embarrassing to admit). My body metabolizes filler like water. Restalyne Kysse (sp?) lasted 2 weeks. Which was really just swelling. Ugh. SO, I had fat grafting done during my latest surgery. September 29th of 2022 I had a lower face and neck lift (reviewed separately). These are the pictures of my before going into surgery and after. I will just have to wait and see if this is what I needed or if goes away too. I’m sitting here today (6 days post-op) of why can’t I just love myself the way I am. That’s usually how I feel post-op. Until I fully heal and then I’m SO HAPPY that I took the leap. Happy Healing!! XOXO Leigh

Hi, TN. No disrespect intended, but for some people a lip lift does make the lip fuller. It did for me. Basically, if your original upper lip is flat against your philtrum, a lip lift will NOT make your lips fuller... it will just shorten your philtrum, as you said. But if your upper lip hangs over your lower lip like a shelf, then yes... a lip lift will make your upper lip look fuller because it will pull it up and flatten it in a raised position. This was my case. My upper lip more than doubled in size. (A welcome improvement, since it was so thin before.) I have before and after pictures on Realself for anybody who would like to see the change. I would post a link to my before and after pictures, but I'm not sure if Realself allows you to post links. So... for some a lip lift does make the lips fuller and for some it does not.

Thank you for posting your experience too. And from what you described that does sound reasonable. I would love to see yours. So, maybe not all is lost for those of us with thin lips!!!

You look amazing! After your lip lift, I wondered why you didn’t do a “full Monty”. So happy for you! Well done.

I was trying to wait as long as possible for a "full monty" (I'm assuming you're talking about a facelift)! I should have done it sooner. I spent WAAAAAY too much money on fillers. I had a liquid facelift that was MORE EXPENSIVE than surgery!!!!! (Ridiculous)

Go for it. Changed my life

Looks like you have a really nice result from your lip lift overall! Would you mind sharing more detail about your recovery? Specifically- how soon after the procedure did you feel comfortable being seen/ out and about? I have to be on Zoom calls all the time for work and am wondering how soon I could return to work after a Lip Lift...

I went back to work 10 days after my surgery. I’m in person at work and was okay.

The lip lift did a lot to give me lip to fill. But, I’ve still had to get filler a couple of times! Going from nothing to a little has taken a lot of money and a lot of time. It is doable though.

I think your lips look great. Very natural. And love your cheeks, did you have cheek implants too?

Hi, wondering if you feel that your nose returned to its original shape by now?

Yes, I feel like it has. It's been a year. I think it just takes time to become used to looking at our face. I'm not sure why but people, like myself, with very thin lips have a harder time with the lip lift. I'm really glad a did it now. With all of my surgeries it has taken a while for me to be happy with the results. I guess I wasn't prepared for the "healing phases". All the swelling and distortions were emotionally hard for me. Now, it's all good.

Thank you so much for your reply. I just had mine done a week ago and feel like the look doesn't suit my face. All I see now is this huge nose in the middle of my face and it's freaking me out. I am not sure if it's just swelling or if the new proportions of my face with the lip lift just make it look really big. The swelling, bruising and distortion is a very hard phase to go through. I guess I just need to be patient and see. I Didn't realize removing a few mm's would be so emotional and anxiety ridden. Thanks again for your detailed review and for answering my questions, these things are so helpful for me right now.

P.S. I think your new lips look wonderful

I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND!!! In 2019 I had several surgeries and just WAS NOT PREPARED for the emotional impact. I know I wasn't. You can look at my " journey into fillers review" too. Holy smokes my face has changed! BUT, the middle of journey is hard. We look at people on here --their before and after--and think oh it's so easy. But, what you're experiencing is NORMAL!! And it's TOTALLY NORMAL to freak out!! However, it WILL change and improve continuously as you heal. We all do this to look better and not worse. So, it's very hard to see ourselves look distorted. Plus, we're in pain. Again, totally normal. Just give yourself LOTS of LOVE and gentleness. Best wishes for your healing.

Hello, i am really impressed about the lip wrinkles. Did you do anything extra or does a lip lift really help with those?
User Avatar

I had filler and micro needling to help with the wrinkles!!

That is an amazing difference. I would say it is totally worth the effort and expense.
