I can almost smile normally but I can tell the stitches need more time to dissolve! Maybe another 2 or 3 months. I attribute the inner stitches to the tugging you see on my skin when I smile- I haven't asked Dr. Mascaro but I feel this is normal and will go away. You can see it has slowly improved.
My incision site itches every now and then. I believe that is because the stitches are dissolving.
Some days my scar looks invisible! But when I am very cold it gets red blue and more noticeable. I added another post op comparison pic also for front view. Love it!
Also, multiple people ask me if my speech changed. No! The first few months I was careful about talking because I didn't want to pull anything. So yes I talked softer. But unless your doctor accidentally cuts too much off and prevents you from pursing your lips to make a P or a B sound, you are fine! Also people asked if my lips move less. YES MY LIPS MOVE LESS. Just barely. Why? My philtrum is shorter. I have less skin now. If your philtrum was so short that your lip was stapled to your nose, it would barely move. So the shorter your skin is the less it can move. Saggy skin can move more also. It doesnt bother me and I don't see anything wrong with it so long as I can talk. I think people who naturally have short philtrums can't stretch them out a lot while they talk either.
Dr. Mascaro does a check to make sure the amount he cuts off will not cause you to strain so much to close your mouth. This avoids speech issues to my understanding.

Spitting Stitches, Friends, and Hyalenex
I stand by my wish i had gone shorter, but this procedure was very worth it. I need to keep reminding myself and give me a pat on the back for choosing a safer length ahahah! Couldashouldawoulda right?
My philtrum sits at 11.5mm exactly what Dr. Mascaro measured me at day 10ish. I started with 17.5mm. I wanted 6.5mm removed plus a tad extra (I assumed 7 to 7.5mm in upright position would actually be removed)...but it didn't quite end up that way so a heads up to those out there.
Everything looks better. Clothes. Makeup. I'm very happy. But anticipate another in the later future.
No huge updates besides my nose spit a stitch. I didn't cut it because dir ended falling out on its own after 2 days. Pimples going away now that I switched from vaseline to scar cream 2x a day. The whiteness is the scar cream.
I got Hyalenex done yesterday to dissolve some uneven filler still remaining. No problems there.
Some friends saw. One want a a lip lift herself now. She kept saying how natural I looked.
Btw the scar cream really helps get rid of redness. Bumpiness subsiding also.

Amazing results. I have my surgery with him on January 29th and now I'm very excited. I hope my results are as nice as yours. But you made me think... Maybe I should opt for the most he can take off haha! Eeek
Lol I would go for it if you arent worried about getting through the first 2 months with a more bunny look or aren't worried about people noticing : )
omg the bunny look is crazy. Im six weeks post op and although improving I still look like my pet rabbit lol! I think my lips are similar to yours and our measurements are about the same. When did you notice the peakiness subside for a more even look? Love your results btw, perfect!
Hi there! I actually love the bunny look but everyone is different. Here is my theory: the bunny (I call it the perky) seemed to subside around 6 months and I highly suspect that it’s because there is some dissolving stitches holding that lip taught a little that finally dissolves and the tissue releases some. I took a ruler and my philtrum is literally the same length but visually it’s dropped just barely and I think it’s because my lip puffed upward some though the same length. I haven’t taken pics to show the different but imagine a 45deg angle lip versus like a 20 angle. Hope that helps!!
Oh I just realized you’re on my first lip lift. I got a second. You can see on my second how my lip angled downward after the stitches dissolved and I also dropped 1mm because I smiled a little too early. But anyway both times my lips lost some perk at 6months. Sad face!
make perfect sense, thank you for your detailed reply, it has eased my nerves!
Ferfect results, scar looks wondefull, dont touch this amazing outcome.
Thanks so much
I agree,,,perfect outcome. Beautiful lips.
Thank you!
Looks amazing. Have you noticed a drop? I'm nervous bc I went from no tooth show to A LOT.... currently 2.5 weeks po. Did yours "settle" or change? Does the tightness in the middle go away? If so when did it happen for you
The tightness goes away at 3 or 4 months so you need to wait. So do I.
"Drop" as in did my skin stretch out? No it measures the same still. I sure hope it doesn't drop!
Some people drop though. Don't stretch it in an attempt to lengthen your lip. You will only tear up and stretch your scar.
Your swelling will subside more at like 5wks PO so you may look poofy and honestly the swelling will still remain a little for up to 3+ months. I hope you love it soon.

And my cheeks and nose are less puffy than before.
Thanks!!! I had the same questions than "Mystory30"... so the only thing that we need to do is wait.... 3 months look so far away.... Zelda another question, in your first weeks did you have struggles with your speaking???
No. I only struggled to speak when I went up to the snow and my face froze lol
Hi Zelda!
I can not stop staring at your photos, and admiring your gorgeous results. You certainly have some juicy-luscious lips. I'm sure all of your girlfriends are considering a lip lift after seeing your evolution!!! Congrats!!!
I'll keep following your journey, my beautiful friend.
I'm scheduled in May for a facelift and neck lift. I posted a review, sans photos. I'll post pix at my pre op.
Hugs. Love. Peace. Xoxo
Thank you and I'm super excited to see your lift results!!

Incision Over Time
This is only over 25 days. I'm not disappointed but I sure hope it fades more. I get to start the scar cream today actually.
Dr. Mascaro told me to stay out of any temp extremes...well I will go snowboarding this winter so I asked him about that. I already went once. Face swelled up (kinda normal for me in the cold though) but warm water made that go down immediately. Dr. Mascaro did his 1 month email follow up which was much appreciated. I'll show him my incision and get his feedback if it is coming along as normal.
So some of the bumps are pimples but some are also the internal sutures dissolving just fyi.

Well I think your photos say I all. Perfect outcome. I"m sure you will be in his book of before and afters as your results are so stellar. Happy snowboarding dear!
That looks like as fine a surgical line as is possible and it should definitely fade. Curiously, when you say you can't smile wide, is that because of tightness from underlying stitches or something else?
Yes from tightness of internal stitches. It doesn't hurt but I feel a pull. To me that also means I should not make large facial expressions in order to preserve the thin scar line. Dr. Mascaro says to be careful for a few months.
It will take 5 months for the internal stitches to dissolve.
Your lip shape Looks so beautiful! I don’t mean to be rude but I am genuinely curious since my surgery date is coming up. Does the scar on PO day 25 looks more obvious/darker than on PO day 5? Also in your opinion, do you think closing the distance between nose and lips makes your nose look bigger? I’m worried It may make my nose look bigger, but ofc you look wonderful both before and after.
Ask away.
My incision sometimes looks invisible one day, then obvious the next day! The cut is so thin but the redness and bumps of dissolving stitches comes and goes as it heals. It's like PO 5 was the least obvious then after stitches came out it got red and more obvious and now at week 4 week 5 it is reverting back to being more invisible.
At first yes it made my nose look bigger for 2 reasons. First now you look at 2 objects on your face are closer together. But mostly it's because the swelling literally does make your nose bigger for a few weeks and the remnant swelling takes a few months to totally go away. So it isn't in your head. My nose looks normal again to me.

Im looking over your pictures again and your results are so pretty. I'm at a similar starting length, about 15.5 and want to go down to 10.5 ish. One of my concerns is a down turned mouth and more prominent nasolabial folds. Have you had that experience or is it not really noticeable or is it worth it?
Thanks xx
Your folds shouldn't be more prominent. Mine softened just a tad. Barely because there is less skin there to say.
So my lip part is not downturned. That is a matter of the lower lip. BUT a heightened upper lift will make an arch like an A (a little) and that can give the illusion of or make an already downturns smile more prominent. Dr. Mascaro will recommend a corner lift if you need it
To feel better look at some lingerie super models. They have short philtrum and "look" as if they have a downturn because some of them have a pouty upper lip. It made me feel better when I looked at them and some actually love that look.

I meant there is less skin to "sag." Because it was cut out. Which can soften your folds! But it's not much.
Look at my day 10 Before after in office picture from the SIDE view. I see my nasofold is a tad less. Lmk your thoughts.
The 10 day before and after made me think they were slightly accentuated but it's hard to tell. It is probably an illusion from the close distance because your nasolabial folds aren't apparent in any other pics. I think how it looks in person with the harmony of the rest of your face matters more. you definitely look more youthful!
Thanks. Plus day 10 my cheeks were still puffy. : ) I would say overall the folds aren't affected at all it is just an optical illusion and looks better or worse (barely) depending on the angle.
