Permalip booked!

Permalip booked!

ali226
$2,300
Honest advice wanted please!
I am nearly 52 and my procedure is booked for 2nd October with Mr Ng in Harley Street.
I've added some photos - first is without make-up or filler, second is with lipstick and third is when I had fillers (and still overlined with lipstick).
Not sure if permalip is going to make much of a difference - I don't mind an unnatural look! I'd rather look too plumped than people not notice!
Also, am I just being too vain at getting old?

No, it's what makes you happy! Your lips looked nice with the filler, so I bet the permalip will be a good permanent option for you. I was scheduled for permalip tomorrow, but canceled, and just did filler again.... now disappointed that I didn't follow through. I researched the procedure, and talked to doctor about it for a year. I say go for it, and I'm older than you......

Hi thanks for replying - why did you cancel? I'm nervous but know that if I cancel I'll regret it! I don't want to keep paying to have fillers - I bruise badly and they only last a couple of months x

Just had damage from hurricane Irma, felt like bad timing, worried they would not make much difference, couldn't take time off work, so I would have to face customers even if they looked horrible.....Had enough money saved, but not enough to have them removed if the were hiddeous. Doctors and his staff (who have them) were gung ho.....UNTIL last week, went in one last time prior to surgery, and said straight to the doctor " do you think I'm making a mistake? " What would you really recommend" He looked at me and said " I think you should stick with your fillers for a few more years, then we will look into implants again" My heart sank, ..... but I trust him, and was pleased he wasn't trying to sell me something to make money. He said some people have great luck, others have problems, and then his nurse who has them, nodded her head yes..... My husband heard the whole thing, so now, I'll probably never get him back on board. I'm like you, love the filled look but can't afford to keep it up.... So my big idea was the permalip. I could kick myself for just not doing it anyway!!!!

I haven't met with my surgeon - he's seeing me as a "see and treat" appointment which basically means he'll see me on the day to answer any questions and advise me as to whether I'm a suitable candidate and then carry out the operation on the same day. I'm hoping he will let me have the 5mm as, like you, I don't think I will see enough difference with a smaller size. Some ladies on here look no different once the swelling has subsided and I definitely don't want to be having the procedure done a second time to replace them with larger implants - for one it is expensive but also it isn't something I'm looking forward to going through once let alone twice! So, do you think you will rebook the procedure or just have fillers? Did your surgeon say why he thought you should just keep having fillers? I hope everything's ok with you after Irma - that looked horrific! X

Thank you for asking......Irma was horrific! Sitting here waiting for a CAT 5 Hurricane to kill you or leave you homeless was a traumatic experience. We faired well, lost some fencing, pool enclosure and lots of tree limbs. No complaints, I am just happy my family is safe.
I don't know right now if I'll rebook. If I decided to, there is a waiting period after fillers, before he would even do it. Honestly one of the things he mentioned was "they can roll over," assumed he meant you can feel them roll over. Less down time with fillers, but he ( as a doctor ) doesn't realize how expensive it is for the average to keep it up. They did tell me before I cancelled, that even with the 5's you can have filler added to increase size. My doctor is the only provider in town that does them, when I called other surgeons, they told me not to get them because they remove a lot of them. So I'm still confused, and just settled for now, for the Juvaderm filler. Hope I've been helpful in some way, would love to see your results!

If it’s what you want then go for it. It doesn’t matter what age you are. I can’t understand why more girls in the UK don’t have this procedure. It’s so expensive getting fillers every 2-3 months so why not go for a more permenant option that’s more cost effective in the long run too! Please post some pictures once you’ve had them done. It would be good to see what they turn out like. Regards, Katie

I don't think it is a particularly well known procedure in the U.K. The lady who does my fillers actually suggested it as I have some scarring on my top lip which makes injecting the fillers difficult - if she hadn't known about Permalip I doubt I would have although it should hopefully make a difference both to my looks and financially! I def will post pics as I go along x

That’s exactly what I was going to say, it’s really not well known at all in the UK and there’s only a few clinics that I’ve found online that offer the procedure. Most places I’ve found it’s around the £2000 mark but I think that’s well worth the cost in the long run x

It's going to cost me £2250 for both lips which, when you consider I would need to spend around £900 on fillers each year in order to maintain the plumped up look will soon pay for itself and I won't have to keep suffering the pain and bruising. I found one clinic in Edinburgh that offered it and Mr Ng in Harley Street who has a really good reputation for performing the procedure x

Hi Honey,

Hope this is not offenssive. You have a great face and your eyes are lovely! I think before getting a permalip you should look into a lip lift. It can make the lips look larger without making them look like you got anything done and it makes the bottom part of your face look smaller. Also have you heard about a phenol peel? It's totally intense but the results are incredible giving the face more volume and often lifting the lips up to make them seem plumper. I just wanted to chime in because I see so many women spending money on something that will only address one thing when they have procedures that make a much much bigger difference. Anyway please disregard if you want XOXO.

Hi I had Permalip done 10 years ago. Going back next week as my implant has migrated to the back of my lip. Honestly, it looks like I never had anything done but I do have pretty think lips. Dr Ng actually did my procedure. Personally I don't think you get the volume whatsoever with the implant and still need filler for that plump look.......I also believe the implant he used was way to small and too short either side of my lips so never got the desired lips!

Thank you for being so honest. Could you send me some pics if you have them please. My email is alijoy1511@aol.com. I'm still unsure as to whether I should proceed or not x

I absolutely do not think you are too old. You also have to do what makes YOU feel good. You are a beautiful lady! Ive actually been looking into perma lip b/c Ive spent $1860 for 3 vials of juvederm and it already seems to be fading. SO tired of going back every 3 months even though my doctor is AMAZING! Post pics and best of luck!!

Thank you for the kind comment. My surgery is the day after tomorrow so I'm both nervous and excited. X

Day of permalip procedure

ali226

I met with Mr Ng who explained to me what would happen during the procedure and to answer any questions I had.
He told me that he recommended the 5mm implants but that I should be prepared for more swelling and bruising than normal because I had scar tissue from a prior surgery along my top lip. He also explained that the procedure would not rectify the asymmetry of my lips. He pointed out that because of the scar tissue there would be a higher than usual chance of the implant moving out of place but that it was not a certainty and I could return to have it removed and replaced if I so wished once all the post-operative swelling had gone.

I decided that I still wished to go ahead with the procedure as I have been deliberating about this for about 4 years and knew that if I did not proceed I would only regret it later.

I lay down on the surgical bed and was given an eye mask and a cover over my jumper. Mr Ng then administered the dental blocks which I think were lignocaine and adrenaline. I literally did not feel a thing although I know some patients have found them painful.

After a few minutes Mr Ng performed the procedure on the top lip first (as had there been a problem due to the scar tissue we were not going to do the bottom lip). He said there was no problem and proceeded to the bottom lip.

There was some pushing and pulling but no pain. It was all over in about 30 minutes start to finish.

I was given an ice pack and some aftercare instructions and as I had already paid for the procedure earlier I was free to go.

That was when the fun began! My partner was with me and we got a taxi back to our hotel where we had parked our car. We then had a 5 hour drive home.

I knew I was swollen because I could literally see my top lip sticking out like a duck's bill (and still can).

What I hadn't expected was that I was shaking like a leaf, my nose was streaming and I was really anxious/angry and boiling hot! I assume this was the effect of the lignocaine and adrenaline. All the way home my teeth were chattering and my legs were shaking. My lips felt stiff and tingly but the worst thing is that my bottom front teeth are aching like mad and are really sensitive - much worse than the pain in my lips!

I took some more pain relief on the way home (can just about suck through a straw) but to be honest the co-codomol tablets didn't really touch the pain and I have only just taken the second co-amoxiclav so hopefully that will take care of the pain and allow me to get some sleep if I can stop shaking long enough!

I used to get injections here and there, etc. I found a great PS for faces only and follow her advice for a better all over perspective. Age is irrelevant, it's about looking your best for yourself. 55, had a few things done and looking natural, not overdone. Some the ps does, and others she says no. A successful PS doesnt push procedures or agree with you on everything. Use their expertise for your own benefit.

I love it! As far as I am concerned a perfect and natural looking outcome. Enhances your already beautiful face.

Day 1 after procedure

ali226
I never got a solitary wink of sleep last night - not because of the pain - that was manageable- but because I was absolutely wide awake and raring to go! I assume as before it is a reaction to the lignocaine and andreneline. The first pic was taken at 2.00am and the second at around 7am when I felt absolutely exhausted.
I finally stopped shaking at around midnight last night.
I cannot believe how swollen I am! I don't recognise myself. My skin feels so tight and tingly, the roof of my mouth is very sore and my teeth ache badly. I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself today probably because I'm tired.

I actually managed to nap for about an hour this morning hoorah! I'm taking all my medications, drinking lots of water (when I say "drinking" it sounds more like a Wildebeast at a watering hole because I'm still mastering the art of sucking on the straw)! I've had some grapes for breakfast but don't feel hungry.

Mr Ng told me that I would experience the most swelling and bruising tomorrow so considering how badly swollen I am now I'm not looking forward to that!

I'm finding it hard to make myself understood - hooray for texts!

Funnily enough, ice doesn't feel great on my skin - I've got a small ice pack that I just brush gently over my face but it isn't particularly pleasant - I'm only persevering because I'm hoping it's going to help reduce the swelling.

I'm going to try and keep napping today but will post again later.

Wow, looks painful as you've explained...You see people have no idea what goes with these procedures...The pain, not able to eat or drink properly, toothache, and not going out until it goes down..
