I have had a tummy pouch since my first child. The loose skin pouch grew with each child. I also had rolls on my back that showed through in everything that I wore. I had a breast reduction with another doctor (Dr. Abell) in 2014 and I ended up with internal bleeding. In October 2015 I had a revision of the breast reduction with the same doctor. This time things were worse and I got a breast infection. After these experiences I was afraid of being cut and afraid of any invasive procedures. I found out about Smart Lipo and Dr. Boutte on RealSelf. She had good reviews and was in my area.
In December 2015 I had a consultation with Crystal Johnson, the office manager. She was very patient and very nice. Mrs. Johnson suggested that I should have a tummy tuck because of my loose skin pouch. I explained my concerns and told her that I would be back for Smart Lipo only. I was given the promotion for bra roll, love handles, lower back, upper and lower abdomen. When I came back to schedule my appointment the following month I learned the area below my breast would be an additional fee of $1800. It seemed as though this is where the money is really made because everything was an additional 1800.
On the morning of my procedure, at 8am, the nurse, Ms. Natasha, prepped me. Ms. Natasha is so nice and welcoming. Afterwards Dr. Remy, an assistant, started the procedure. I was dissapointed because I did not meet Dr.Boutte prior to the beginning of the procedure. I felt every patient should feel worthy of speaking to the doctor they are paying, prior to a procedure. I am only sure Dr. Boutte was there because as I was coming to at the end of the procedure I heard a female voice say, "Should have gotten a tummy tuck." I responded "huh?" Then the other nurse, Ms. Lee (also very kind) said that is Dr. Boutte talking. I went back to sleep and was awoken at 4pm, dressed and quickly pushed out to my sister's car.
I am now 4 days post and am still sore and have some burn marks. Maybe from the skin heating that goes with the Smart Lipo process. I am dripping and draining from everywhere. But I am feeling better everyday. Crossing my fingers on these results.

Work in process. I am going to continue to go down. I am dealing with a 2 seromas (1 in front and one in the back) and a few burns (you can see them on my sides clearly) which make compression even more difficult because I am still very sore. I did get prescription for the burns from Dr. Boutte's office and am using lipo foam for the seromas. I am going to schedule some lymphatic massages next week.

Are burns normal for this procedure? I was considering using this doctor, but I am apprehensive now. I hope your have a speedy recovery and hopefully you will see your desired results soon, sans the scars from the burns.

They shouldn't be. However I had a lot of excess skin and the doctor appears to have used more heat than normal to get that extra skin to tighten.

Best wishes on your recovery. Burns from laser lipo is concerning and I'm sorry you're dealing with that complication. I really don't like the fact that the doctor posted defensively on your journey. It seems unprofessional and invasive. I looked her up and she seems to do that everytime someone posts something negative about the experience with her. Sorry, but it really made me feel some type of way. Keep us updated on your healing. :-)

BC I didn't not take anything she said about boutte negatively. She just wanted to meet her, and I understand.

Thank you ladies. I thought it was just me. I simply stated facts and was not rude our negative.

She did! She came for me! Did not read what I wrote and got snappy. A mess. SMH and LOL.

12 Days. Seromas still here.

I told Nurse Lee about my seromas (large pockets of fluid) last week and I was directed to wear lipofoam. I had already been wearing the lipo foam and compression board prior to the advice. Several days later, the seromas are just becoming more painful. Between them and my still healing burns, wearing my compression is difficult. (I had to stop the prescription burn medicine because it was giving me a very bad reaction. It was making my skin burn and causing me headaches. The medicine is actually used for heart issues. Scary. ) Nurse Lee has now given me an appointment to get the seroma drained.

I am almost sure she gave you nitroglycerin, which is the same thing she gave me to correct burns from the device she used. I really hope you continue to heal better than I did. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Yes. That is what she gave me. I couldn't take it. The lady who does my massages suggested Bio Oil. I am going to try that.

Nurse lee gave me nitroglycerin. I took my behind straight to the er. They admitted me and I have been here for 3 days and probably won't leave until Thursday.

I hope everything works out well. I too was afraid of such an invasive surgery and just wanted lipo. When I went for my consultation my surgery said that I would be much happier with a tt and I would have hanging skin. He made me feel so comfortable with his expertise that I scheduled my tt 2 weeks after my consultation. I really didn't even have time to think about because j was so busy getting prepared for my surgery by getting my exams, meds and supplies. I didn't start thinking 'wth am I doing?' Until the night before after my anesthesiologist called me to see if I had any questions about my upcoming surgery the next morning. A tt is not an easy recovery for some (I had a seroma that had to be surgically drained and scraped), but I'm very happy with my results this far. I see a difference in your pics, but if you don't get the results you want, decide to get a tt, and have any questions, please let me know. Happy healing!
Btw, bio oil does work. I'm using it along with a silicone gel on my scars.

Thanks! I ordered my BioOil from Amazon. I will start using it immediately.

If you use Groupon heck there also too. That's where I ordered my replacement bottles from for a rally good price. The last time I checked it wasn't there anymore, but they often put things back up.

Thank you for your feedback! Please know that given the amount of excess skin present prior to your procedure with us, it is normal to experience drainage for a few days. Upon your initial consultation, the concept of having a tummy tuck was discussed. You signed a form DECLINING a tummy tuck, despite it being highly suggested for achieving extraordinary contouring results.
We sincerely understand your fear of considering this more invasive procedure, given your previous experience with another surgeon at the time of your breast reduction. However, it is difficult to "shrink" the amount of extra redundant skin (as you have shown in your "BEFORE" photos above), even with the most aggressive laser liposuction treatment.
I did my best to address the unwanted fat and the redundant amount of skin with which you presented. I did take "AFTER" photos immediately after the procedure, simply to demonstrate during your ONE MONTH post-op visit with me the challenge you may have with excess skin.
Please continue to compress for the ENTIRE 6 months, as we suggest for best results. While I am certain you will lose 7 to 10 inches in your waistline by your one month post-op visit, and look EXQUISITE in your close. However, I cannot guarantee that you may still desire intervention for removal of the excess skin in the future. I look forward to seeing you in one month, and monitoring your progression closely.
Warmest Regards,
Windell Davis Boutte, MD
I don't know if you may have missed it, however I did mention in my review that Ms. Crystal was patient and kind and that she suggested the tummy tuck and I declined. (2nd paragraph, 3Rd sentence.) :- ) I understood the excess skin may be a challenge, however I was simply explaining the one time I distinctly remember hearing your vouce because I had not met you prior to the procedure. I was incoherent when I heard the unfamiliar voice and remembered thinking "huh?" I am in agreement that at the least, I will look Exquisite in my clothing.
I look forward to seeing you in one month.
Thank you.
