I've been a mother and wife from the very young age 16. Our oldest son, who is now 23, 2 beautiful daughter's 17 and 14, our middle son 12, and 2 little guys 6 and 4. I've sidelined myself for my family (no regrets) and am wearing the signs of just that. I just recently turned 40,...looked in the mirror and decided my new 40 looked 55. I'd had a breast augmentation when I was 20 and have always been so glad I did, so, with 20 years more under my belt, I recently had an upper Blepharoplasty surgery and it made a huge difference! I was SO pleased! Dr. Edward Bednar in Charlotte, N.C. preformed my surgery (for those looking for the best, he also preformed my Brest augmentation years earlier) Now, I'm looking to give my tired, almost non-existent lips new life. Dr. Bednar doesn't preform this procedure so I've searched for almost a year for what I feel is the best, most qualified doctor to preform my PermaLip/ SurgiSil/ Lip Implant procedure. I've selected Dr. Oliver P. Simmons, MD, FACS, "Simmons Plastic Surgery".

I'm getting so nervous. I mean, I've lived 40 years with these lips. We spend so much time scrutinizing ourselves...or at least I do... I'm praying I don't take what is seemingly fine and ruin it. I think, in the past week, I've managed to find every terrible story out there about this procedure. (Nail biting) From deformation- loss of symmetry/ implants shifting, loss of sensation, loss of proper speech for months, the ability to regain the same smile, ability to open their mouths, etc.
Deep breaths... I have tremendous confidence in Dr. Simmons!

I totally hear ya. I'm slightly on the other side, but I know exactly where you're coming from. My only consolation is that it's reversible :-) just have to swallow the loss of money, but at least it can be changed back! (The pain though...they will have to be pretty bad for me to go through it again!)
