Just ok. Made hollowness under my eye look worse. Guess I'll have to try some type of filler. Dr. Bitter told me it might make it worse. I didn't get to see my before and after pictures. They were running behind and didn't have time. I waited for two hours. Also my fault because I didn't ask to see them.

Dear Perfumegirl,
Thank you for posting a comment. I hope that as the days go on and especially when you see your before-and-after photos that you feel it appropriate to change your "indecisive" to "worth-it". I want to apologize for running behind on the day you came in for your follow-up. We really try to do our best to schedule an appropriate amount of time for each patient. However, we also try to give every patient individually the time they need. As you can imagine, this varies greatly from patient to patient and sometimes, we get behind. So, again we are sorry and hope you never feel like we are not respecting your time as equally valuable as ours. Also, I hope you feel that, even if we are running behind, that we will always spend whatever time you need and are never rushing you out the door.
As for the hollowness under your eyes, I would be very interested to look at your before-and-after photos. From what you had listed and the cost, I think we only did a revision facelift and not eye surgery. Of course, a facelift is meant to rejuvenate the neck, jowls and a little bit of the cheeks. However, a facelift is not meant to do much of anything to the eyes. Sometimes, in people with a feature that ages them, such as hollowing under the eyes, once you tighten the neck and cheeks, the features around the eyes seems to stand out more. Again, it's not from anything that was surgically altered but just that the other areas look so much better that the eyes start to stand out more.
Of course, I take full responsibilities for both what I did do and for anything I failed to mention during your initial facial analysis at your consultation. Afterall, that is why you entrusted me with your face in the first place. However, often times with volumization procedures such as fat grafting or fillers it is not wise to do it at the same time as a facelift, so, I will stage them. A facelift can variably affect the midface and by lifting up the cheeks, it can make lower eye hollowness look less noticeable, obviating the need for filling. Or, sometimes the cheek is so low and the distance so great between the eye and the cheek, that it won't fix the hollowness. So, in order to not have too many moving pieces, I make changes to the lower eyelid only after the person has fully recovered from a facelift. It means two procedures instead of one, but is the safer approach. I hope that information helps. I usually follow up with my facelift patients for a full year after surgery. I hope you have a return appointment scheduled. Please make sure that we look at your before-and-after photos and that we figure out what we need to do to address your eyes and make sure you are very very happy with your final result.

Thank you for this reply. This was very helpful in my research. I know other surgeons will do the lift and eyes at the same time. I appreciate your conservative approach and detailed information provided.
Thanks for sharing on RealSelf! What, specifically, did you have done?
