Week 3 Update
My left boob became Vastly more squishy over the course of today. It was the weirdest thing.
I also figured out why the bottom of my ribs have been hurting. I have strands right under my scars from my boobs to my ribs. I never noticed it before. More stretching to come!
I've been putting Bio-Oil on my boobie skin to help with the tightness. It seems to be doing some good. I'll be getting mederma soon for my scars, that's what my ps recommends. I'm getting the heavy-duty stuff, too!
Oh, and I don't have to wear my strap anymore either! Yay!
I'm going to start being more active and doing some lower-body workouts to get myself going again. Still a ways to go on this journey, but I actually feel like I'm making progress now.
Happy healing to everyone on this side, and good luck to everyone still waiting to go under the knife!
Almost 2 weeks already!
I'm apparently dropping and fluffing well, although it doesn't feel like it a lot of the time. I looked at pics from 9 days ago in one of my sports bras and the same shot taken tonight and there's a Big difference. It's hard to notice changes like that when you carry them around all day. They're getting softer, too. I worry that they'll not get as squishy as I think they should be, but I know that will come with time.
My incisions itch a bit, which is a good sign. Another week until the steri-strips can come off. I'll be Really happy when they do. It's getting annoying. I also can't wait to See my scars and see what they actually look like instead of just a nasty piece of tape under my boobs!
I finally found a bra that actually fits today, I got it at JCP and it's Sooo much better than having to wear a sports bra all the time. My skin's been getting a bit raw from the stretchy material touching my breasts where there used to be an air gap under my bra. This new one is much more comfy (I'll figure out which one it is and post details on the pic if anyone wants to know..).
Apparently it's late because my brain just shut off and I have no idea what else I was going to write about... Oh, I've been off of pain killers (even ibuprofen) since pretty much a week. My armpit pain persists, but it's getting better. I no longer have a strong desire to kill myself every time I accidentally reach out for something wrong.
9 Days Post-Op
My armpit pain has pretty well gone away over the past few days and my range of motion is better all the time. My breast skin is kind of sensitive from being stretched and having a bra against them all the time. I've had an air gap in my bra for Years and it's taking a little getting used to having cloth against my skin. My nipples are a little sensitive for the same reason (and my husband thinks it's hilarious to play with them because I freak out...) And I'm still wearing the band (mostly) all the time, which is not super comfy, but it'll help everything settle, so I'm doing it.
I can tell that they're dropping and softening a little, I am starting to get actual creases underneath, and they're getting a bit more squishy. They're starting to feel like more a part of me and I can't wait until they're not sore anymore and I can sleep on my side and snuggle my hubby properly.
My brain's shutting off for now, so I'll update more soon :)
Merry Christmas!!
Provider Review
I found dozens of surgeons in my searches online and narrowed them down over a couple of months of going through reviews and before-and-after pics and just generally how I felt about the ones that I found. I ended up doing consultations in SLC with the 3 that I really liked. I chose Dr Yates a few days after the consults based on his manner, his views and suggestions, his staff, and most importantly, the fact that I feel he will be able to give me the look that I am after. I never felt like he was pushing me in a direction (as I felt with some other drs), but giving me advice to help me achieve the results I really wanted. I have emailed him with questions (some of which might have been silly) and he got back to me very quickly. I love that I can email (or call) him directly and find out things that I need to know, or just get his opinion on things. I am confident that he will do the best job and give me the best results.
