Price Gouging, Lies, and Poor Customer Service
I've been going here for more than a decade, probably spent 15k at this place or more on AFT, laser hair removal, botox, and lip injections. It's consistently went down hill over the years. I purchased the BBL (broad band light) package with the understanding of having a set price for follow up treatments. The follow up treatments were to be much cheaper thus justifying the high price of the original package. This was several years ago and I've got the follow up treatments multiple times since then. After the first time I was switched to AFT for some unknown and unexplainable reason and there was some confusion on that but that was years ago and not the current issue. The AFT treatments have always been about $140 or so. I made an appointment recently and asked to confirm the price to make sure they knew I got it at the discounted rate. I was told $500!!! I thought she just wasn't aware that I had previously purchased a package so I explained and was told Sona is no longer honoring that price and the Sona Forever Price Guarantee does not apply. Instead they offer 20% off individual treatments after you purchase a package. Well that was not the agreement when I purchased the package and it seems Sona can can change the agreement at any time. I spoke with Alison who is the regional manager. She asked me if I had an email or something showing that I was told the price for follow up treatments so I recommend getting everything in writing and keeping it. Of course I dont have emails from 6+ years ago and I purchased this in person anyway not thru email so there wouldn't of been an email anyway. But I told her she could look at my chart and see that I've always paid $140 for this. The only explanation I could get was the $140 was before they increased the price but it was now $500. She told me she requested for the price to be honored but it was denied. She then told me she could request for it to be honored as a one time courtesy and let me know by 5pm the next day. I let her know I had an appointment the following day and needed to know beforehand if the price would be honored and if it wasn't I needed to cancel. I never did hear back from her, I had to call the day of my appointment just to find out she had cancelled it but didn't bother calling or emailing me to let me know. Going from $140 to $500 is a huge price increase, more than 300%. So they offer a 20% discount on individual treatments after the package and then triple the cost so either way you end up paying much much more. These treatments were always hit or miss depending on which of their employees was doing the service. My last treatment the woman barely touched my face and spend all of 60 seconds doing the treatment and then said "were done", she spend more time interrogating me about the color of my skin and where I had vacationed than she did on what I actually paid for. So this time I specifically asked who was doing the treatment to make sure it wasnt her but found out she no longer works there either. Some employess will go over your whole face throughly and then ask if there's any areas you want to go over again, others will just want to spot treat a few spots on your face and scoot you out the door, you get charged the same price either way and you don't realize the difference in servcies until you've been multiple times. If your first service is with one of the more slack employess, you'd never know they were slack because you have nothing to compare it to. I've only noticed because I've been doing these things for years. Their employees change so often that when you do find a good one, by the time you make your next appointment they are no longer working there. At times this was not even worth the $140 I paid (again, depending on who does it) but this definitely isn't worth $500.
I've had similar experiences with laser hair removal. Certain employees are much more through and do a better job while others just want to get you out of there as quick as they can. I try to specifically make appointments with the good ones when I can but like I said I'm often told that person no longer works here. I've been doing laser hair removal for probably 10+ years (multiple times a year) and still not hair free. There has been improvement but it's temporary and not something that you can expect to get 7 treatments and be done like they first tell you. I know results aren't guaranteed so it is what it is but the price gouging a $140 service to $500 is unacceptable. I will find somewhere else that appreciates my business. Unfortunately I have nonrefundable gift cards from here but after that is gone I won't be back. This place is way too mediocre to have Beverly Hill's prices and clearly they don't care about keeping customers long term.
