The Before Pictures of my "nuggets".
These are the pre laser liposuction photos. I am 6 days out from my procedure and looking forward to seeing the results once the swelling goes down. Keep in mind, no suction was performed on these areas, only laser lipo.
Desperately Seeking Results with SmartLipo!
This is a story.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Robert this past November for a liposuction consultation. I had a few small problem areas that I could not get rid of with diet and exercise. Additionally, I had a previously treated area that was uneven with a lot of scar tissue that I really wanted corrected.
Let me start with how easy it was to obtain an appointment. Using their website and "contact us" option, I was responded to by the next day. When I called to schedule the appointment, I was able to get the location and a day that was perfect with my schedule. I had to wait a few weeks, but I would expect as much having such specific scheduling needs.
After waiting for several weeks and driving 30 minutes to their office, I received a text that said "we need to reschedule your appointment." Nooooo! So I called the office and explained to Daisy that I was already there. She said the doctor was delayed in surgery and that I would have to wait, but that they would get me in. No problem!
Consultation begins. Dr. Robert is a very personable doctor. He has a lot of energy, a good sense of humor and explains things very clearly. He starts with a medical questionnaire to determine candidacy. Then, he has you step on a scale (just mean lol) and proceeds to calculate your BMI. It doesn't matter how small the area is that you want to have done, there is a $200+ increase in charge, per area/side, if you are over on your BMI. That was a bit of a disappointment. I would have to lose 10 pounds to be "normal" and by then, probably won't feel that I need lipo. Dr. Robert did explain the reason very well and it did make sense; however, I personally didn't feel that my areas of concern warranted such a big jump in price. But, it is how they do things and I respect it. It is a business, after all.
So, I work my butt off, literally, and shed 14 pounds. I called the office and said that I was ready to book and had lost the weight in order to avoid the additional BMI fee. They scheduled my pre-op and my procedure and stated that I would be reassessed during the pre-op for the BMI adjustment. That seemed reasonable.
So, I arrive for pre-op, gung-ho! Dr. Robert came in and it was as if he did not remember me at all. In his defense, my body looked pretty different with a 14 pound weight loss. BUT, my problem areas that I went to him for to begin with were still there, just smaller. Dr. Robert tells me that the areas are too minor and there is nothing he can do. WHAT????? I've done everything I could to get ready for this. I am here for pre-op. Surgery is scheduled in 3 weeks! I need these awful, unsightly areas sucked out and fixed! Help me! Dr. Robert gives me the very glum scenario that all he can do is laser lipo, no suction, and there is absolutely no guarantee that I will see an improvement. In fact, he was adamant that I needed to be clear and 100% OK with spending the money and being prepared for no change whatsoever. As any of you are reading this, can you get a sense of how disappointing this was to hear? Dr. Robert decides that he wants me to take some time to think about this. He has me re-schedule my pre-op to allow me the time to really wrap my head around my options. 1. Spend the money and get ZERO change. 2. Don't do it at all 3. Take the chance and maybe, just maybe, get some improvement on these nasty areas that I lovingly refer to as my "nuggets".
Anyone who knows me KNOWS that doing nothing was absolutely not an option. I HAD to at least have Dr. Robert try. Why Dr. Robert? Because he has made a career out of liposuction. He does it day in and day out. He performs liposuction 6 days per week. If anyone knew liposuction, it would be Dr. Robert.
I return for my 2nd pre-op and await Dr. Robert. He did not remember me AGAIN. My hair may have been different, but I felt like I was there for the first time. I had to re-explain my concerns, show him the same "nuggets" and hear the same speech about what he couldn't do. "Dr. Robert, Honey, you may not remember me but I remember YOU. We discussed this. I NEED you to TRY and help me." I am here specifically to see you because this is what you do practically every day of your life. I know it may not help, but I need to try!" I was practically begging him. I finally felt like I got through to him. I assured him that I knew the risks and I was willing to take them. The "nuggets" bothered me SO much that I could not NOT give the laser lipo a shot.
I arrived for my procedure and brought a little gift to ensure that the entire team would remember me. I brought a specialty pastry and drew on the box, "REMEMBER ME! :-)" It got a giggle. Dr. Robert came into the room and said, "Now, WHO are you?" Of course, I got a nice hug and he was ready to go to work! He marked me up and addressed every area that had me so concerned. The staff...Beta, Kim, Linda...all so wonderful!!! Even after ALL of the previous times of feeling irrelevant and dismissed and flat out forgotten, I was comfortable and KNEW I was in the right place. If anything was going to help, this was it. The procedure went off without a hitch. Easy and completely painless. Dr. Robert explained everything as he went, making sure to check-in on me often to be sure that I was comfortable.
I am only 4 days post procedure. Too much swelling to tell if only having laser lipo made a difference, but I am feeling optimistic and looking forward to my results. I will keep you informed and will post pictures when I can.
